Five-member group FTISLAND will become the first idol group to have their own reality TV show that is rated 19+.

On March 31, it was confirmed that the group’s upcoming SBS MTV reality TV show “Coming Out! FTISLAND” has been given the 19+ rating.

A representative from SBS MTV told the press, “As ‘Coming Out!’ is the first 19+ idol reality show, we will be holding a launch party where the fans will be able to enjoy beer with the group.”

They also revealed, “We knew that FTISLAND was famous for being honest, but we were surprised to hear them say such shocking statements on camera. We decided that we had to show all of this freewheeling side of theirs.”

“Coming Out! FTISLAND” will premiere on April 7. It will be the group’s first reality TV show in nine years.

It has been belatedly revealed that male group SMASH disbanded at the end of last year.

Produced by former H.O.T member Tony Ahn, the group promoted in both Japan and Korea after debuting in 2008. Despite having a stable fan base, SMASH has not promoted in Korea since last spring, and halted all Japanese activities in December.

According to reports, SMASH could no longer be sustained due to personal reasons and members’ military enlistment. Some members also departed from the group, making it difficult for SMASH to continue.

A representative of the group revealed, “At one point in 2014, we worked extremely hard to choose and train new members to revive SMASH. We sent a newly organized SMASH to the stage with new members and prepared for a single album. In October, we promoted the single album and followed up with a year-end concert. This is when Minkyu left the group due to personal reasons, and we ended up letting go of three original members.”

While the company had plans for future promotions, all parties ultimately decided to go their separate ways.

It’s a Girls Republic now. Taking the festive mood of a good April Fool’s joke, Boys Republic has officially transformed into Girls Republic!

On April 1st, Boys Republic made a complete transformation into their new girlish persona, photoshopping female wigs onto their group photo and bringing laughter to their fans. Their SNS accounts as well as official fan cafe accounts reflected the girly reflection, as did their 2nd mini-album Real Talk as it took on a pinkish hue as opposed to its normal black and gold concept.

Yewon’s managing agency, Star Empire Entertainment, released an official statement on the controversy between Lee Tae Im and Yewon.

On March 31, they said, “We would like to send out an official document regarding the conflict that occurred while filming ‘Tutoring Across Generations.’ First of all, we would like to apologize to those who care for Yewon and Lee Tae Im for causing so much trouble.”

“We take on most of the fault for rashly releasing an official statement after depending on only the hearsay from the staff, while failing to receive any accurate facts from Yewon,” they continued. “We apologize for the harm we have caused Yewon and Lee Tae Im by judging this issue based on the atmosphere and failing to professionally take on the issue. We will do our best to treat future sensitive issues with more caution. We will also make sure that Yewon takes this as an opportunity to mature.”

“We hope that you forgive us for sending out such a dated apology and understand our situation with a generous heart. Once again, we send out our deepest apologies to Lee Tae Im and the fans,” Star Empire said.

Earlier, controversy sparked when it was exposed that Lee Tae Im had cursed at Yewon during the filming of “Tutoring Across Generations” on February 24. Though the case was closed after each side apologized, it’s becoming the center of attention again since clips of the scene have been revealed.
