With the release of EXO’s much anticipated comeback album EXODUS happening on March 30th, the members of the group gathered at SMTOWN COEX for a press conference, but Chinese member Lay was unfortunately unable to attend.

Prior to the physical release of the album, the group has already achieved an all-kill status on the online music sites.

Lay had to excuse himself from the important group event due to his conflicting schedule in China as he is filming for upcoming Chinese movie Oh My God (Cong Tian Er Jiang). In regards to his absence, leader Suho stated, “Our comeback stages on music shows this week will still take place smoothly. We are regretful about his absence.”

Due to his absence, Lay had to greet the media and fans during the press conference through a video call sent from China. He expressed, “I am filming in China. I miss the members a lot. I will show a perfect look for the comeback this time. Please look forward to the changes.”

In place of Lay, his corresponding EXO mascot had the honor to pose with the other nine members during the press conference’s photo time.

In other news, the Chinese movie Oh My God started its first filming in Beijing, with official photos and posters shared on March 23rd.

EXO-L’s have expressed their outrage at a question directed towards Lay during EXO‘s press conference for EXODUS.

The group had held a press conference at SMTOWN Coex Artium to commemorate the release of their 2nd studio album EXODUS on March 30th with former KBS announcer Oh Jung Yeon acting as the MC.

Unfortunately, Lay wasn’t present at the conference due to his conflicting schedule in China for his upcoming Chinese movie Oh My God. Instead, his EXO mascot took his place in the group pictures, while Lay himself joined through a video call.

In an attempt to joke with EXO during the conference, Oh Jung Yeon playfully asked Lay, “You’re going to come back, right?” to which the EXO member replied, “Of course I’m going to return. There’s EXO.”

The MC then wished his well return, “I hope you return for sure rather than stay in China.”

However, EXO-L did not take the MC’s jest so lightly as it hit a sore point with them, considering the loss of Luhan and Kris, two of EXO’s Chinese members, in the past year.

As the negative responses continued to pour in, a representative from the conference stated, “While trying to express her interest in EXO, announcer Oh Jung Yeon ended up saying something like that.”

Despite the statement, netizens have continued to criticize the reporter for what many of them call her “inappropriate” and “thoughtless” question.

Lay was cute in that video call (wasn't Kyungsoo holding the phone for him at some point? I don't remember. But it was cute.) And that mascot killed me lol, SM already starting the process of replacing the EXO members with the superior versions. :v

Okay, legit question. Before I even start to stan this kid (Lay), I need to know, it is worth it? Has he done anything questionable that would make him unlikable? I'm uncomfortable as it is about this burgeoning noona crush. I just want to be well informed before I commit. Help me! Not excusing the other things he's done (as said above), but also know that lay is always the last one left on stage to the point he needs to be dragged off by staff because he's too preoccupied bowing to every single fan. He's also a composer and has stated his ambition to write songs at like every possible opportunity, can sing, and is easily the best dancer after kai in exo. He's a good guy who's done a few questionable things.

Oh, definitely. I think I'm too old to be naive enough to think any of these people are perfect. I just want to make sure he hasn't physically hurt anyone or is shooting up drugs on the reg. As for that reporter, she should have known how the fans would react to such a sore spot like that.
Her fault for not only reminding the fans but also putting a spotlight on the fact that Lay could leave which basically attracts more China-Line hate. I hope I don't hear booing or silence during any of Exo-M parts.
