[I'm not sure whether there should be a trigger warning for sexual assault/violence or not as there are no details of the events, but I am putting it here just in case.]
A damage compensation suit raised by the sexual molestation and rape victims of the so-called “Dogani” incident was thrown out by the judges of the Seoul Central District Court.
The Dogani incident occurred in Gwangju Inhwa School, a school for hearing-impaired students in Gwangju in the southwest, in which at least nine of their deaf-mute students were sexually abused by six teachers including the principal between 2000 and 2003.
Of the six perpetrators, four received prison terms, while the other two were freed because the statute of limitations for their crimes had expired. Even for the four, two were released after less than a year in jail and four of the six teachers were reinstated in the school.
The real-life events were later published in a book in 2009 and then adapted into a movie “The Crucible [Silenced]” (Dogani in Korean) in 2011 that drew almost 5 million viewers.
The civil court judges of the court said in a statement, “The seven victims of the incident raised a compensation suit against the central government and the city government for negligence in supervising the public school. But they did so after the statute of limitations for demanding compensation to the state had expired and there is not enough evidence to find fault with the state that led to sexual abuse.”
To this, the attorneys who represented the plaintiffs said, “It is regrettable that the judges did not acknowledge the victims’ trauma as injury and just stated the statute of limitations has expired. We will appeal the case to a higher court.”
The plaintiffs had raised the civil suit in 2012 to ask for compensation of 445 million won (US$419,000) for neglecting to supervise the Wooseok Foundation, the operating organization for Gwangju Inhwa School.
To the verdict, Internet discussion boards were abuzz with critical comments such as “Is Korea a paradise for sex offenders?” and “It is lamentable that I live in an underdeveloped country when it comes to sex crimes.”

I am glad there will be an appeal. I loathe that statute of limitations exists especially in cases of sexual assaults where minors are involved. I could rant about this for days but will stop so I don't become one of my own sources. LOL. Silenced was the first movie I saw with Gong Yoo and really this has been the basis of why I adore him so much.

Actor Seo In Guk was recently rushed to the hospital after injuring his eye while practicing action scenes for KBS2TV’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “The King’s Face.”
A representative revealed, “While practicing action scenes at an action school, Seo In Guk was accidentally hit by a stuntman. He was hospitalized after his eye started to ache and swell, and he is currently receiving treatment.”
“Not only was Seo In Guk taken aback by the injury, but it also affected others present at the time. The action school staff are currently being treated at a hospital to ensure their healthiness,” the source added.
According to the reports, the filming schedule will not be altered due to the injury. We wish Seo In Guk a quick and smooth recovery! “The King’s Face” starring Seo In Guk, Lee Sung Jae, and Jo Yoon Hee will premiere in November.

The new album "96" consists of the title track, which is jointly written and performed, 3 Crying Nut songs covered by No Brain ( Speed Up Losers, Luxembourg, and Dove), and 3 No Brain songs covered by Crying Nut (Your Crush on Me, Sea Man, and Beautiful World.)
"96" represents the year the two bands first met. The album debuted at #8 on Daum's Indie Chart

Solo star Ailee says that maintaining her new svelte figure is proving somewhat of a challenge. The singer appeared as a guest on SBS Power FM‘s radio show “Kim Chang Ryul’s Old School,” where she was interviewed by the host of the program.
She said, “I eat two meals a day, and only consume 500kcal per day. Now I am trying to maintain my current weight. It was very difficult for me when I was on a diet.”
The show’s presenter then asked her, “Do you think you will go back to your old eating habits after you finish promoting your current album ["Magazine"]?
Ailee jokingly responded, “I am so hungry of late. I’d love to eat some noodles!”
The singer also explained that she has received a mixed response to her new, slimmer figure.
She said, “A lot of people have congratulated me on my new image, and said, ‘Don’t put the weight back on!’ But others say that they liked me more before I lost weight!”
