Happy Friday! Today I took my mom to the cemetery so that she could decorate our family’s graves for Halloween. So many decorations out! I saw one grave with plastic skeleton hands planted on it so it looked like it was coming out of the grass. Seemed like a family with a funny sense of humor. Wonder if it gave the maintenance crew a scare. Every week I go through the past charts for this day and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 10 years to the 5th week of October, 2011.

#3 Tablo featuring Jinsil “Bad”
About a month after announcing that he had signed on to YG Entertainment, his first solo album was released. It was broken up in two parts, and “Bad” was one the lead single from part one. All of the songs on this album would chart. It was his first new music in almost two years, due to an Epik High hiatus with Tukutz and Mirtha Bear being in the army. Also that whole damn Stanford mess ugh. The song features Mad Soul Child’s Jinsil, and here they are together with a performance at Inkigayo.

It may be erroneous to call the melding of rapper Tablo, Scooter Braun’s SB Projects, Emmy nominee Jason Kim and Amazon a K-pop supergroup. However, the quartet certainly are embracing the genre, if not the notion.

Under the first-look deal that the Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato manager has with the Jeff Bezos-founded streamer, the four have teamed up to develop Neon Machine, I learned.

Working with a predominately Korean producing team, the comedy series created by Barry producer/writer Kim tells the tale of an out-of-left-field K-pop superstar who hits a global chord but might lose it all in the process. Kim will executive produce along with Epik High leader Tablo and SB’s Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson.

"On March 16, a domestic terrorist tragically killed eight people—six of them Asian women. While prosecutors and law enforcement still debate whether to designate the murders as hate crimes, millions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), including myself, are left feeling abandoned and overwhelmed with memories of our past, the realities of our present and fears for our collective future in a country we love."

It’s Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the week and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we will be going back 9 years to the 4th week of October, 2011. Most of the songs have been posted before, so we will see some live stages today.

#3 Tablo featuring Jinsil “Bad”
This was one of the singles from his “Fever’s End Part 1” solo album that was released just about a month after he signed on to YG Entertainment. It would be his first new music in two years since Epik High’s hiatus due to Tukutz and Mithra’s military enlistments. It was also his first release since that Stanford mess (that still makes me shake my head tbh I can’t believe those people). The song features vocals from Mad Soul Child’s Jinsil.

Tablo states, "I'm an artist, and I believe that the art should be separated from the artist. But should it? I don't know. It's a question people are always fighting about. Like, can we separate the two? Or should we separate the two? I'd like to, but sometimes it's hard"

Diane, the producer, thinks that there are plenty of other artists who can be given the same attention to rather than one who has done horrible things.

The super talented Tablo joins me today! We talk about how he started writing music after a famous musician read his poetry, forming the South Korean hip-hop group Epik High, raising his adorable daughter, what he would say to an alien.
