Ultra Korea draws electronic dance music favorites

Beyond the dominance of K-Pop, South Korea boasts a vibrant electronic dance music scene.

About 100,000 people are expected in Seoul’s Olympic Stadium on Friday and Saturday for Ultra Korea, according to the event’s organizers. While smaller than Ultra’s home base of Miami, the Korea edition stands out as one of the world’s top parties.

“Some of hottest partiers in the world,” are in South Korea, “more so than Vegas or Ibiza,” says Choi Hun, CEO of Octagon, the highest-rated South Korean club on DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs list, referring to two of the better-known dance music capitals.

“In Seoul’s top nightclubs, the real ‘Gangnam Style’ is not dancing rappers or K-pop – it’s superstar DJs and EDM,” said Bernie Cho, president of Seoul-based K-pop agency, DFSB Kollective.

SBS makes Dal Shabet ask: "Is my Aegyo cute?"

Dal Shabet‘s upcoming single, “Be Ambitious (Look at My Legs)” has passedSBS‘ review with modification to the lyrics.

In a telephone interview with XSports News, Dal Shabet’s agency, Happy Face Entertainment, said, “Last week we submitted the relevant song to the three terrestrial television stations. It passed KBS and MBC but not SBS. The song passed SBS after modifications to the lyrics.”

The lines in the song “Be Ambitious (Look at My Legs)” that SBS found problematic were
“When will you progress?” “[Let's] go home even though [we're] drunk,” and “Are you a man? Are you shy, perhaps?”

These three lines were changed to
“Is my aegyo cute?” “Why do you keep looking at the clock?” and “Look at me; do you even like me?"
respectively.

Ailee to make her comeback next month!

Ailee is returned to the local music scene with the release of her new album this July.

On June 18th, it was confirmed that Ailee will be releasing a new track in the middle of July. It was also revealed that aside from showcasing her distinctive vocals, Ailee will also incorporate a bit of choreography to her track. Expectations for her comeback are reportedly high following successful promotions from female solo singers such as Lee Hyori and Ivy.

Ailee made her debut with the release of her first single "Heaven" which successfully ranked well in the local music charts. It was soon followed by the release of her mini-album "Invitation" last October proving her status as an outstanding rookie in the music industry.

Seems like Yoo Seung Ho is doing rather well in army

Yoo Seung Ho, who is currently serving in the army, was transferred to a new position.

According to the official internet cafe of the army training camp, Yoo Seung Ho left his cavalry squadron to become a trainer at a division of the army training camp.



In April, Yoo Seung Ho could be seen on the list of honorary soldiers, which only picks the top 16 out of the 250 trainees in the camp. He also received an award from his battalion commander.

A source close to Yoo Seung Ho told enews on June 18, "It is true that he was transferred to a new position. I′m thankful he′s been adjusting well to his life in the army. I hope he returns as his healthy self after serving his duties."

A rep from the actor′s agency said, "They say he′s becoming the ideal soldier, but actually he′s just doing whatever everyone else does. He will continue to do whatever is asked of him during his service."

Yoo Seung Ho will be released on December 4, 2014.

Simon D and Lady Jane are no longer an item

Simon D and Lady Jane have ended their 6 year old relationship.

The breakup actually happened in May, but the final admittance wasn't until June 17. The two of them broke up but decided to stay friends and support each others' music.



Their friend stated, "Since they dated for 6 years, they had a lot of misunderstandings and disappointments towards each other. Also, they were busy with broadcast and music activities, and they couldn't meet each other very often, naturally growing apart. They came to this decision after a long time of thinking. They're sorry that they couldn't show only good sides to their fans. They're gonna give back to their fans with good music."

Other friends said, "They dated for 6 years, and it's impossible for only the good things to happen. They fought and bad things happened, so they broke up. They were a beautiful couple that supported each other musically as well, so we're sad they broke up."

Hopefully, the pair will still support each other as friends!

Girl group 4minute have reached 4 years old since their debut. The ladies who have entered the entertainment industry with their debut track ‘Hot Issue’ have risen to popularity, showing remarkable growth with their past activities, and is a group that we can really anticipate in the future.

On the 18th, Cube Entertainment's Ahn HyoJin, Marketing Team Leader, spoke with the press, “It’s 4minute’s 4th year anniversary. For a group with a 5 years difference, they have had many and different turning points, but 4minute have received good comments such as showing an even more mature look, and we think it is even meaningful to gain such responses”, he revealed.

In fact, 4minute released their mini album ‘Nams Is 4minute’ on April 26th, making a comeback after a year of blank period. Their title song ‘What’s Your Name?’ latched onto the highest peak of the entertainment industry for an entire month. It doesn’t stop there, the longer they are, the more they hope to create a ‘going against the flow’ phenomenon in climbing the charts.

After answering questions about 2NE1's future plans yesterday, Yang Hyun Suk is continuing with his letter to fans to resolve their curiosity surrounding YG Entertainment's new girl group!

As you know, the agency revealed a few members back in 2012 for this upcoming group, before suddenly stopping, and once again started to tease with new photos earlier this year, but that stopped abruptly as well.

We haven't heard much about this new group since then, but according to Yang Hyun Suk, the girls, or at least some of them, will be making their debut towards the end of this year - October to be more specific, which is when 2NE1 is scheduled to release a mini album as well.

However, it turns out we won't be seeing the group as a whole, but one or two members at a time as they stand in front of the public as individuals before they come together as the group.

Korea strengthens law on sex crimes

Korea is stepping up its fight against sex crimes.

The legal authorities of the country have abolished the statute of limitations on cases involving a minor who is under 13-years-old and cases that involve a rape and murder.

This revision is expected to give more leverage to local authorities as the police will be able to hunt down sex offenders without the pressure of a deadline and will easily be able to re-open a cold case.

The new law is also giving the power to authorities to decide whether or not to pursue a case.
