As you know, the agency revealed a few members back in 2012 for this upcoming group, before suddenly stopping, and once again started to tease with new photos earlier this year, but that stopped abruptly as well.
We haven't heard much about this new group since then, but according to Yang Hyun Suk, the girls, or at least some of them, will be making their debut towards the end of this year - October to be more specific, which is when 2NE1 is scheduled to release a mini album as well.
However, it turns out we won't be seeing the group as a whole, but one or two members at a time as they stand in front of the public as individuals before they come together as the group.
Check out more details through his letter below, and stay tuned for his answers to questions about Kang Seung Yoon's debut!
We are planning October for YG’s new girl group’s debut. The group has been preparing for a long time at YG – their debut is YG’s first one in 4 years since BigBang’s debut in 2006 and 2NE1’s in 2009. The trilingual members are fluent in Korean, English and Japanese. Despite their young age, an average of 17 year old, they are arousing deep attention not only in Korea but also overseas.
The project initially started off with a plan of 10 or more members in the group, but throughout the years there has been a fierce competition among tens of tryout singers and now remain 6 members. Unfortunately Yuna Kim, who was discovered on Superstar K, had to be excluded from the team for personal reasons. However, Eunbi Kim, a contestant from the same program, remains as one of the 6 members.
We are adopting a debut method that is utterly different from the conventional debuting ways that was applied to other YG girl groups. From October, we will be debuting one or two members at a time to see whether they are apt for the public. When we can see that the audience likes them, then we will move on to forming a proper group. BigBang’s all five members, on the other hand, made a debut as a group and then started working on their own work. It will help you understand better when I say that we are going the completely opposite direction with YG’s new girl group.
To be continued… see you all tomorrow! 2013. 06.19 |

As promised, YG Entertainment's Yang Hyunsuk published a follow-up post regarding the agency's upcoming girl group on June 19th on YG-Life.
Yesterday, Yang Hyunsuk personally posted an update to Blackjacks regarding 2NE1's comeback, promising that the group will be releasing at least 4 new tracks this year, as well as a mini-album in October. In the most recent blog post, Yang Hyunsuk touched on the topic of the very anticipated girl group coming from YG Entertainment.
According to Yang Hyunsuk, YG's new girl group will be making their official debut in October after preparing for a long time. They will be the first group coming out of YG Entertainment in four years, the last being the highly popular female group 2NE1.
With an average age of 17, the group contains trilingual members who knows English, Korean and Japanese.
"The project initially started off with a plan of 10 or more members in the group, but throughout the years there has been a fierce competition among tens of tryout singers and now remain 6 members. Unfortunately Yuna Kim, who was discovered on Superstar K, had to be excluded from the team for personal reasons. However, Eunbi Kim, a contestant from the same program, remains as one of the 6 members."
Yang Hyunsuk then explains that while the new girl group will begin debuting in October, they will do so in a different tactic than what is normally done. Each members of the upcoming girl group will be making a solo debut, greeting their audience for the first time alone. If the reaction to them is positive, the formation of the girl group will then begin.
"From October, we will be debuting one or two members at a time to see whether they are apt for the public. When we can see that the audience likes them, then we will move on to forming a proper group. BigBang’s all five members, on the other hand, made a debut as a group and then started working on their own work. It will help you understand better when I say that we are going the completely opposite direction with YG’s new girl group. In a nutshell, each member makes a debut first, and then they will come together to form a group."
He then changes the subject, revealing that he is currently in Japan with SBS "K-Pop Star - Season 2" winners and siblings Akdong Musician, who recently signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, and Lee Hi. To help the three artists become closer, Yang Hyunsuk had invited them to Daesung's solo Japan concert, spending quality time with them.
Details of Akdong Musician's album release will be revealed at a later date, promised Yang Hyunsuk.
Tomorrow's post is set to reveal more information on another YG Entertainment artist, former Superstar K contestant Kang Seungyoon.

Date: 2013-06-19 02:07 am (UTC)So YG hasn't debuted homegrown talent since what... 2009?? And they haven't debuted any dudes since 2006!!!
Like holy shit imagine if you're a YG trainee that's decided to stick with the company, could you imagine how screwed over you'd feel?? It's one of the reasons that I felt Akdong Musician shouldn't go to YG (despite the obvious aesthetic differences and the MESS that was Supearls). They're contractually obliged to debut this year (which I think is AWESOME) but sucks even more if your a trainee whose waited your turn for the better part of 4 years...
Most of the time I just roll my eyes at YG trolling us, but when it comes to kids who give up their lives for opportunities only to be constantly screwed over again and again?? IDK, man kpop trainees make me emotional *sigh*
/TLDR Papa YG sucks ass

Date: 2013-06-19 02:11 am (UTC)As a fan of some of your artists, I am sick and tired of your media play.
Why would you think it would be a good idea to debut a girl group around the same time you have one of your prominent money making girl groups release a mini? You suck as a CEO. Always delaying shit because you can't get your shit together as a CEO.
Then you get rid of one of the best vocalist in your new girl group? How stupid are you? Soon BB will be off to the army, who will make your money then?
It sure as hell wont be 2ne1. Especially when you can't even give them a proper comeback?
And lets not for get this new girl group that you keep switching around. You fucking suck horse balls and monkey dick.
Your luck I love TOP and Daesung or else you would have lost my money long ago. Fucking asshole.

Date: 2013-06-19 02:36 am (UTC)Anyways I think this is a good method for the members/group to get some attention before they debut, similar to how woollim is doing it, cause even if ur from the top 3, its hard for groups to grab and keep the public's attention on them. Sucks that Yuna left cause she had a really interesting personality. And its not like YG ever keeps his promises so this wasn't a shock whatsoever
