On January 5th, TV Report released the data results they’ve compiled from various advertisement and model contracting companies in order to find the most expensive celebrity figures of 2011.

The data they’ve published were updated as of January 2011, and consists of appearance and contract fees paid to singers for year-long contracts.

So who are the most expensive CF stars?

According to the results, Rain and Big Bang were classified under ‘Special A Class’ in the industry, and are both worth $1 million to $1.5 million USD.

2PM, SNSD, Lee Hyori, and SNSD were placed in the $800,000 to $900,000 USD sector, while BoA followed at $700,000 to $800,000 USD.

Lee Seung Gi, Kim Hyun Joong, Jay Park, Super Junior, JYJ, Son Dambi, and the Wonder Girls placed at $500,000 to $600,000 USD.

2AM, CNBLUE, KARA, 4minute, MBLAQ, and After School (excluding UEE) are worth a minimum of $400,000 USD. After School’s UEE exceeds that amount.

IU, FT Island, Seo In Young, and SECRET were revealed to have been in discussion for $200,000 to $300,000 USD.

Of course, the true worth of a star cannot be determined by numbers, but the numbers give better insight into the commercial aspect of the stars

Will 2011 be the year the hallyu idols make a difference? Among the hallyu groups, YG‘s male and female groups, Big Bang and 2NE1 have started their activities and have shown their confidence by saying, "We will definitely succeed on the Japanese stage." YG’s president, Yang Hyun Seok, have commented on the activities at Japan.

“Starting in May, for about 2 months, Big Bang will hold a Japan tour concert and they’re preparing for it. Right now, they’ve been going to Japan once a week and have been promoting a small out but starting in 2011, they’ll be more aggressive and offensive in their promotion tactics.”

Following Big Bang and 2NE1, they’re not your usual hallyu idol or your girl group because they’ve split up their promotion schedule so that they’ll be able to promote both in Japan and Korea, making their promotion techniques unique.

President Yang continued by saying,

“The proposal of 2NE1′s debut in Japan was proposed since last year. But because they’re a group that debuted not too long ago and are still rookies, we believed it was best to focus our attention on promoting them in Korea so it has been a bit late. After completely finishing their activities for their first full length album, they will officially debut in Japan during February.”

But what are his thoughts on the success of Big Bang and 2NE1 in the Japanese industry. For Big Bang, he said,

“It was suggested with our partner in Japan that we split the promotions in Japan and Korea and that the focus on promoting one thing at a time. They’ll promote their Korean album during March and April and their Japanese concert will be during May and June, along with other promotions, and from July through September, they’ll promote another Korean album and from October to November, they’ll promote another Japanese album. They’re well known in Korea already and in Japan, they’re getting to that point so we believe it would be best to focus on their promotions and we believe by doing that, we’ll get good results.”

Truthfully, before Big Bang started their official promotion in Japan, starting in early 2011, many fans have been interested already and they’ve been awarded 2 years straight with the Japanese Record award.

In the case of 2NE1, they have formed a partnership with TVXQ’s company, Avex, and already, their future in Japan seems bright. President Yang said, “The owner of Avex have taken a liking of 2NE1 for a while and they proposed on working with 2NE1 so the staff of YG have been anticipating greatly for 2NE1′s debut in Japan.”

2NE1′s first Japan promotion will be during February and March, for 2 months and within that time frame in May and June, they will be preparing for their Korean album that will be announced in May and June.

Boram speaks up about her food habits.

Jeon YoungRok and Jeon Boram appeared the 3rd January on the TV Show "Newsen Issues-People" and talked about the behind the scene who occurs in the entertainment world.

Boram continued by revealing, "It's not like I'm starving all the time, sometimes I don't realize I'm hungry. Sometimes I just eat cherry tomatoes, or a sweet potato. If I eat more, I won't appear pretty on screen." She then added "Compared to other girl groups, T-ara members eat a lot." which provoked a lot of laugh.

However Jeon YoungRok couldn't hide his sadness when he revealed that he felt bad to know that his daughter couldn't eat whatever she wants. "On screen she looks a bit chubbier but in reality she is really light."

Both Jeon Boram and Jeon YoungRok are starring in the hit musical "I Really Really Like You."

Army-idol Changmin and Nation's grandmother Kim Taewon has been chosen as 2011's oldest looking star.

Aired on the 2nd on MBC TV 'Section TV Entertainment Communication', they were chosen as 2011's oldest looking star, giving them much humilation.

1st was the nation's grandmother Kim Taewon, and we wish him fast recovery. He turned 47 this year but because of his weak body, it is making everyone concerned.

Not only that but Changmin was also chosen as the 4th, who is the only idol who had finished his army service and has expressed he needed anti aging before. 'Section TV Entertainment Communication' said that it could be because Changmin already finished his army service, it has made him look more mature.

On one broadcasting network, one young actor said to Changmin, "He isn't like an oppa (brother) but more like and ajjusshi (old man)' and gave him a shock. Additionally, after knowing that he was the same age as JYJ's Park Yoochun, he became even more shocked.

On the other hand, Kim C and Jung Joori has taken 2nd and 3rd on the oldest looking stars list. Not only that but Park Myungsoo and Choi Daniel being on the list have made them learn that taking care and management is important.

Lee Hyori has been somewhat out of the limelight since her last album release last year. Despite giving her all and making sure that she would avoid plagiarism issues that she encountered in her second album. However, it was found that the composer hired to help Hyori with "H-Logic" had sold her songs he had taken illegally from other composers and artists.

During her break from television appearances and performing, Hyori has been spending her time doing charity, appearing as a CF model, and occasionally MCing for events. It was expected that Hyori would be missing from the entertainment industry for a long time, however, she has decided to make a comeback! According to her agency, her comeback has been decided for the end of June, but delays may be expected.

It was unfortunate that Hyori did not finish "H-Logic" promotions on a good note, since she had helped produce the album, pick out the song, and even the concept. She went as far as spend time in New York to look for the concept herself. Hopefully, Hyori will come back just as strong and overcome the plagiarism issue that she encountered last year.

For South Koreans han is as amorphous a notion as love or hate: intensely personal, yet carried around collectively, a national torch, a badge of suffering tempered by a sense of resiliency.

Seoul record store owner Kim Ji-yun tries to articulate the concept of han, a cultural term many South Koreans use to describe a feeling of hopelessness and remorse and whose meaning experts say is critical to understand the way South Koreans think.

For most of his life, record store owner Kim Ji-yun has battled against a feeling he has trouble describing; a mystery of the soul, a puzzle that many say helps define their culture — the ineffable sadness of being Korean.

Big-name South Korean celebrities have worked their charm on overseas entertainment markets, successfully landing in them, but the same appeal seemingly hasn't quite worked for their agencies with domestic investors.

Unstable cash flows and some bad apple cases in the past have left the stock market skeptical about investing in talent agencies, many of which, despite the glam and the fame, are struggling to make ends meet.

The latest case that denotes such a dismal circumstance is the merger between J.Tune Entertainment where singer Rain had been the major shareholder until a massive sell-off in July 2010 and JYP Entertainment led by singer and producer Park Jin-young.

J.Tune announced on Dec. 27 that it will raise capital by issuing new stock, which were later bought by JYP.
Park and three others now own 17.7 percent of J.Tune.

It is widely believed that the recapitalization was aimed to help JYP going public in the KOSDAQ market via a back-door listing, a strategy of making a presence on the bourse by acquiring a listed firm.
Those that fail to meet the listing criteria of a stock exchange tend to choose this method.

YongSeo shippers on here, knew that back on November 30, Yong and Seohyun went to Busan to meet his friends and family, well the long wait is over, their Busan episode, where Seohyun meets her mother-in-law has finally come to fruition.

More from AKP, SEOULBeats

AKP's
It’s one of the hardest meetings a girl will have to make, but SNSD’s Seohyun took a deep breath and tried to deliver a first impression that would do her husband proud.

For MBC’s “We Got Married“, Seohyun and her ‘husband’ (CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa) travelled to Busan recently to meet his family. In an effort to make a positive first impression, Seohyun tried her best to learn the provincial dialect and certain gestures indigenous to Busan, in addition to showing a bigger appetite than normal.

The couple was greeted by Yonghwa’s mother upon their arrival, and visited a sushi restaurant for a meal.

Their meeting, and whether Seohyun received a passing score as a ‘daughter-in-law’ can be found on the episode scheduled for December 8th. (it's January 8th, akp fails)

SeoulBeats'
Yong-hwa and Seohyun travel to Yong-hwa’s hometown of Busan to meet his mother. Does Seohyun pass as a prospective daughter-in-law, even virtually? Find out on the January 8th episode of We Got Married. Uh, I’m not sure if namja SNSD fans will be able to handle this: first the hand holding, now visiting the in-laws, what’s next…

Park Jin Young praises JOO’s work ethic

JOO recently came back into the music scene with her new mini-album, “Heartmade“, but fans have been wondering why it had taken her so long to return.

The singer had originally debuted back in 2008 with “Because of a Man“, and although she received a lot of love at the time, she made a difficult decision that drew a lot of respect from Park Jin Young.

On the afternoon of January 5th, Park Jin Young tweeted, “JOO’s new song, ‘Bad Guy,’ has just been released. Actually, she believed that her skills were inadequate for a debut, and voluntarily returned to life as a trainee for two years… It’s really difficult to do that.. What a lovely little kid.”

Fine-tuning her skills to a level where she felt satisfied, she finally made her comeback this week. Fans were delighted with her return, and Park Jin Young concluded his series of tweets with, ”Fighting!”
