Hi everyone! Here’s an early Flashback Friday! Well, early to me. It’s still Thursday where I am. But it’s Friday in some places, and who knows what will happen tomorrow lol. Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 2nd week in March, 2011. Most of the songs have been posted before.

#3 G.Na “Black & White”
This was her first song to reach #1 on the charts. It was the lead single off of her only EP of the same name. The thing I remember the most about the era was the over the knee boots lol. She wore them on every music show with like, shorts or rompers. This song would also give her her first triple crown on the shows. Let’s check out the MV again, it’s been awhile. She stars in the music video with 2AM’s Jinwoon.

A few months shy of 6 years since I started this series here on Omona. Hopefully we can continue on here. But if we can’t, I really want to continue it on the new site too. I’m still having fun with it. Can you believe there are still songs that I’m waiting for? Like I look at the master list and think “how have I not posted that song yet?!?” Something to look forward to, I guess. But thank you all so much for checking out the posts every week. Thank you for 6 years!

#3 SHINee “Lucifer”
“Lucifier” was the title track from the group’s second full album of the same name. I always forget about this song until I see the styling from this era, and then everything comes back to me lol. The song would peak at #2, and the album would rank in the top ten at the end of the year. Here’s a performance from Music Core. I miss their random outside stages lol.

#3 Baek Ji Young “Good Boy”
This was pretty successful for her. It was her first dance album in three years, after 2009’s most iconic and most beloved “My Ear's Candy”. The original song features Yong Junhyung, but for this performance GOT7’s Jay B appears, just a month after debuting with JJ Project.

Since the playlist is quite long and LJ sucks at handling too many media I'll just post my top 5 + the full playlist.
As you'll notice "funk" and "retro" (as well as an hint of disco) might overlap, so I decided to make a maxi playlist for those of you gluttons who want to listen to it all (do enjoy 4+ hours of kpop flawlessness).

Side note: while the girls reign supreme over the retro style, the boys came in full force for this one. I did manage to get some queens in, but it's mostly a boys club...

#3 G.NA “Top Girl”
“Top Girl” was the lead single off the EP of the same name. It was also the follow up to her successful “Black And White” album released earlier this year. Both the EP and the single would chart in the top ten, and this would end up being one of her biggest selling songs. I only really remember the chorus to this song. She looked so pretty this era too.

#3 G.Na “Black & White”
This isn’t my favorite song from her, but I still remember it doing pretty well. This was the single off of her only full album, “Black & White”, and would hit the top spot. Fan chants sound nice too, and anyone else remember the days of fanclub balloons? I hope she’s doing okay, I think we’ve only heard from her a few times in like, 5 years?

#3 Sung Sikyung “I Like”
I could only find a re-upload of the MV. This song appeared on his “The First” album, 10 years after his debut. I think I do remember this MV, it feels familiar to me. The video stars actress Cho Yeojeong, who can be currently seen as the mother in the film “Parasite”. Coincidentally, today is the film’s US release day. I’ve been seeing articles about it everywhere.

Still a damn bop. I don’t remember anything about this except for the song, which is weird to me because I think this is one of their biggest hits. I feel like I should remember more of this era, but I don’t and that honestly bums me out a little.

I remember this song, but mostly because of the MV. This song charted well for weeks, and was nominated for song of the year at year end awards. Somewhat off topic, but I just googled and Homme disbanded last year? Did we know this? Did I know that? I’m bummed, they sounded so good together.

It was G.NA's 31st birthday yesterday, and just like last year she posted on Instagram, thanking her fans and friends. G.NA hasn't been active in the entertainment industry since her scandal in 2016.

I love this song. It’s my favorite G.Na song, and one of my most favorite KPop songs in general. Ugh, I love it so much, I had wished she did more songs like this. It’s been so long since we’ve heard from her, I hope she’s okay. Here’s her Music Core debut stage.
