Every week I go through the past charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back 7 years to the 2nd week of June, 2012. I don’t remember much this week, but I think I don’t remember much of 2012 in general lol. All the songs have been posted before, so this time we’ll check out the live stages.



#3 Infinite “The Chaser”
Still a damn bop. I don’t remember anything about this except for the song, which is weird to me because I think this is one of their biggest hits. I feel like I should remember more of this era, but I don’t and that honestly bums me out a little.

#2 Baek Ji Young “Good Boy”
She looks soooo good! I know she’s probably most seen as a ballad queen, but she does some up-tempo jams pretty well too.

#1 G.Na “2 Hot”
I remember a little of the song, I was way into her slower jams more. But now that I’m watching the live stages, the choreography is looking real familiar. And not just because of the tootsie roll, my second favorite move on the dance floor. Yes it’s 2019 and I’m still doing the tootsie roll let me live I’m probably drunk.

#5 Girls Generation TTS “Twinkle”
This was the lead single off of this subunit’s debut EP. I think I only really remember the chorus part. Was Jessica originally supposed to be a part of this unit? Or am I mixing that up with another rumor?

#8 Apink “Hush”
I remember this shirts but don’t remember it was Apink wearing it. Those shirts are the only thing I remember from this era wtf lol. They all look so young.

Yes OP, according to rumors Jessica was supposed to be in this subunit but backed out. I'm not sure if either tiffany or seohyun filled her place.

Good Boy is still a bop but I prefer the acoustic version, it's without the highlight dude.

it was rumored that Seohyun was the one. Then again, it was also rumored that Jess didn't back out so much as Taeyeon ousted her so grain of salt with that.

it all seems to come from a place of 'queen bee' syndrome in that only one could be 'THE ONE' as it were. While Tiffany and Yoona were always super popular vocally it was definitely all about Jess & Tae and they were popular themselves.

I think The Chaser was Infinite's biggest hit. All I do remember is that the era was iconic! I remember watching all the lives! It's definitely one of my fave songs by them. The choreo also stood out to me as well.

I swear Hush came out earlier on O_O

Twinkle is still a bop! Loved everything about this era! \o/

i don't know if it's coincidence or what... but sm merged with woolliim around the time after the chaser's success when infinite was at their peak, then the next thing we know, exo started to be everywhere. so yeah. ;/ but timing is funny sometimes. maybe they just really weren't able to properly capitalize and follow up on the momentum during the chaser era. :(

Oh it's definitely not a coïncidence Imo but the SM has always played very very dirty in that field. I don't trust them, they fucked concurrence for less and in such underground ways. Anyway, Infinite is love, I'm still hoping for a réunion when they'll all finish their military service 🥰

I was going to say something to this effect too tbh, the timing was iffy, but it couldn't be helped. I also checked, and saw that sm c&c merged with woollim right before their world tour in 2013, right after man in love and destiny, which helped solidify infinite's reputation as a rising boy group.

Also I feel like woollim got too complacent with infinite's popularity during 2011-2014 and started promoting them less tbh so they could focus on establishing their newer groups. Infinite only started getting comebacks once a year during bad era in 2015, and that was after a successful japanese tour for their new album along with releases from both infinite h and sunggyu. From their 5th year onwards, infinite would only have one korean comeback, a japanese release, a concert, and some individual or unit releases.

// i'm still hoping for an infinite reunion, and i think sunggyu is being discharged this year? since they shortened the time for enlistment to 1.5 years instead?
