Cho Jin-woong ‘depressed’ after acting in ‘Signal’

Veteran actor Cho Jin-woong said in an interview with local media that he felt a sens of depression after acting in tvN’s crime series “Signal,” which earned him fame.

“I suffered terrible aftereffects,” Cho said in an interview with Sports Chosun. “The storyline gives viewers a gloomy and saddening atmosphere, which made me choose a bright character as the next role.”

During the interview, Cho, 40, shared a story about a bereaved family member of a victim of crime, who sent a text message of gratitude to the entire staff of “Signal.” “Everyone at the scene cried out loud,” he said. “I had to act with grave responsibility, in order not to ignore the message.

“Signal,” he hoped, was the most remarkable series of his acting career, considering the range of emotions he experienced. Cho added he could overcome the depression by acting in “Entourage Korea,” where he acts manager of TV celebrity Kim Eun-gab, a role he described as “bright” character.

“I don’t have to shed blood anymore,” he said. “Fellow actors are delightful. I was eager to act in ‘Entourage Korea’ when I was offered the role. I just wanted to enjoy the filming.”

CJ CGV to co-produce first Hollywood title for ScreenX format

South Korea's largest multi-screen cinema chain CJ CGV said Friday it will collaborate with a Hollywood studio to co-produce the first English film for providing the ScreenX immersive experience.

The company announced that it will work with the American film production company "Let It Play" to make the ScreenX version of "We Kill Death."

Developed with South Korean technology, ScreenX delivers a 270-degree experience by using two side screens in addition to the cinema's existing main screen.

Since its launch in December 2012, ScreenX technology has been adopted for a total of 15 Korean and Chinese films. But this would the first commercial Hollywood title that adopts the technology.

I'm here for this. I saw BigBang's MADE film on ScreenX and it was so much cooler than I thought it would be. Like when the center screen would show them performing, but the side walls were the VIPS, so it felt like you were right in the middle of the concert. Or when someone would walk in from the one wall, through the middle screen, and then out the last screen. So much to focus on! Excited to see action films in that format.

Spanish version of "Fantastic Duo" to air next year

Producers will remake a South Korean music reality show for broadcast next year in Spain, the program's original producer said Tuesday.

"Fantastic Duo," which features fans singing duets with their favorite singers, will be adapted for Spanish audiences ahead of its broadcast on public channel TVE, according to SBS TV.

"TVE (also) owns channels in South America, where they speak Spanish," said Kim In-soon, an SBS official in charge of exporting TV program formats. "The idea behind 'Fantastic Duo' is something South American viewers are familiar with as they love song and dance. If the Spanish version, 'Duo fantastico,' is successful, we could also be optimistic about its entry into South America."

According to SBS, it will be the first time a Korean variety show has been reformatted and aired in Europe. The Spanish version has secured a slot during primetime on TVE's main channel TVE1. It could air as early as March.

The original program's first season ended last week after a seven-month run.

I thought last night was Friday night ugh dumbass. Every week I go through this Friday in a past year on the charts and post the top three songs. Then, I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s look back and see what we bopped to in the 1st week of December, 2009. Lots of lovely ladies take up the top three, so I let the boys have the honorable mentions.

Keeping it real…this is my favorite T-ara song mainly because doing the dance got me free tacos from the Kogi truck all those years ago. I love tacos. And I love free tacos even more. Anywhos, apparently there’s two different versions of the MV. I’m posting the “Dance” version because it’s the one I remember seeing the most. There’s also the “Sexy” version, and I think they look cuter in that one.

Daesung to go on a solo Dome tour

BIGBANG’s Daesung will be holding his first ever solo dome tour in Japan under the title of “D-LITE JAPAN DOME TOUR 2017” in April next year.

Daesung will kick off his tour by holding concerts at the Seibu Prince Dome on April 15-16 and then at the Kyocera Dome on April 22-23. He will hold four concerts in two cities, and as much as 200,000 fans are expected to come to his concerts. Daesung is the second foreign artist to go on a dome tour in Japan after G-DRAGON in 2013.

Daesung released the “D’scover” album as a solo singer in February 2014. The album ranked no.2 on Oricon’s weekly album chart, which was the highest record for the debut album of a Korean solo singer. In July last year, Daesung released his “D’slove” album, which took the no.1 spot on Oricon’s daily album chart and the no.2 spot on its weekly chart.

His first solo tour in 2013 titled “D-LITE D’scover Tour 2013 in Japan~Dlive~”, which consisted of 26 concerts in 20 cities, drew 100,000 fans. Last year, Daesung went on his first solo arena tour under the title of “D-LITE DLive 2014 in Japan ～D’slove～” and held 15 concerts in eight cities and attracted 170,000 fans. He became the first Korean solo artist to draw more than 100,000 people in a tour for two consecutive years.

Would love him to get a longer break to rest, but wow! Dome solos! Take all that yen and buy ALL the Legos!

AHHH!!!! haven't stopped crying all day we did it kids!!! the fact that gongmyung gave the award to his brother's groups made it even more touching. and i was expecting for ty to be crying but my emo baby was full on sobbing before he even left his seat 😭 this is an award for all of them and i hope they know that my sweet angels i love them so much i'm proud of them beyond words. they really brought it tonight. that dance performance at the beginning was amazing, everyone was hitting it hard. jisung and jeno were shining stars #blessed

king of not giving a fack at award shows strikes again, pisses of fans with his MAMA speech

EXO’s Lay is at the center of attention for his speech at MAMA 2016 which some are accusing to be direct shade.

The controversial line in Lay’s speech is, “In China there’s a saying that the Yangtze River’s back waves will push off the waves in front. I hope EXO will prove this saying to be false and forever stand at the top of the highest mountain.”

The proverb essentially explains how newcomers will always overtake the old. The speech could be considered innocent as multiple EXO-L are stating. It makes sense that an artist who has won an award would not want to be overtaken by rookies.

However, multiple fans on Twitter were extremely angered by his speech. Most of these fans claim that the speech was directed somewhat towards BTS, inciting even more friction between EXO-L and ARMY.

B1A4 submits statement to police, Infinite and Block B also to be questioned

B1A4 has finished giving their statements to the police about the recent “SNL Korea” sexual assault controversy, according to a report by Dispatch.

A source from the Seoul, Mapo police station said on December 2, “December 1, the B1A4 members submitted written statements about what happened.” The source was unable to disclose what exactly they said, as the investigation is in its beginning stages.

INFINITE and Block B will also be speaking to police, as videos of the two groups being subjected to the same actions as B1A4 had surfaced following the controversy.

Whether or not Lee Se Young and the other staff members of “SNL Korea” will be summoned for questioning has yet to be decided. Police stated, “Our priority is to determine if there was sexual molestation or not. After talking to the idol groups and examining the videos, we will make a decision.”

According to Dispatch, in the case that Lee Se Young is found guilty, she could receive a punishment of up to 10 years in prison or a fine of 15 million won (approximately $12,800).
