Veteran actor Cho Jin-woong said in an interview with local media that he felt a sens of depression after acting in tvN’s crime series “Signal,” which earned him fame.

“I suffered terrible aftereffects,” Cho said in an interview with Sports Chosun. “The storyline gives viewers a gloomy and saddening atmosphere, which made me choose a bright character as the next role.”

During the interview, Cho, 40, shared a story about a bereaved family member of a victim of crime, who sent a text message of gratitude to the entire staff of “Signal.” “Everyone at the scene cried out loud,” he said. “I had to act with grave responsibility, in order not to ignore the message.

“Signal,” he hoped, was the most remarkable series of his acting career, considering the range of emotions he experienced. Cho added he could overcome the depression by acting in “Entourage Korea,” where he acts manager of TV celebrity Kim Eun-gab, a role he described as “bright” character.

“I don’t have to shed blood anymore,” he said. “Fellow actors are delightful. I was eager to act in ‘Entourage Korea’ when I was offered the role. I just wanted to enjoy the filming.”

Aww I'm glad he's seeking healing through his art form. Hopefully he can keep it under control.

experiencing signal as a viewer was completely draining. i vividly remember crying so hard during episode 13 that i woke up with a migraine the next morning. i can't even imagine what he must've gone through to bring lee jae han to life with so much gusto.

hope he's been feeling better these days.

I can imagine how stressful it was to portray such a bleak story. I marathoned the show but had to take break during the rape story line. It was too much like the real news of a Brock Turner getting away with rape by receiving a light sentence.

I can definitely understand. That was a draining drama.

I hope that he's better nowadays since he's playing Eun Gab.

I was more sad at the scene when he was crying while talking to the radio about how sorry he is for failing to save Park Haeyoung's innocent brother.

He was really great as Lee Jaehan. Further cemented my love for him as an actor. He had a certain charisma that made him stand out even when he wasnt a lead. I didnt like Entourage since the plot bore me but his role there is really entertaining. He had an eye of picking great roles tbh.. :)
