I thought the same but the contestants in boys24 really didn't live up the the initial hype they tried to make about the show. The problem with boys24 is that no-one had a agency; aka just about everyone was on the old side and most had been company trainee at some point but had given up (or forced for some other reason) to give up.
SM and YG didn't send anyone for the first one either. The big 3 don't really need to send their rookies, cause any groups that they debut already get instant recognition.
yeah, but still i think you can only win with a show like that, i mean, Somi came out of it with so many more fans! It's not surprise that JYP is/was in talks with mnet about the second season (even if it's not confirmed if they did send someone or not)
JYP sent Somi bc she was safe she already had a fanbase bc of sixteen and they knew she was charismatic why do you think she was the only one they sent? when she ranked number 1 she reinforced the idea that the big 3 have the best training for idols
The first one was popular because they were girls, so I'm going to be really surprised if this season doesn't flop. You only have to see from where the popularity of girl groups and boy groups usually come. GG do better with the general public but BG have bigger fandoms that are mostly young women, so I have a hard time picturing a boy group being as popular as P101/IOI was on Korea.
ok but like both girls and boys voted for the produce 101 girls, but i don't see boys being involved in voting for these guys... i would like to be pleasantly surprised tho and lbr i'll probably become obsessed with the show by the 3rd episode
Repeating what netizens said about Boys24, you won't get the same ratings or viewership if you make a show with male trainees.
Also, after seeing the nominees for best male group (or whatever) at the MAMAs today, I'm not looking forward to new boy groups. They are so stale and indistinguishable right now, why make another one.
tbh they can't top the girls version (srry bitter ioi stan here that will have to say goodbye to those gorgeous 11 angels in a few weeks TT) but i still think it will be worthy watch but I will def NOT make myself as attached as I became to IOI (my heart won't take it again ;;;;;;)

I'm excited for another Producer 101 even if it's a male version. As long as the writers and producers are the same ones as the original one. Hopefully they can also fix some voting oversights from the first one aka more people in a group = less votes for each individual girl.

there's no way this is gonna be as successful as the first one. Both guy and girl audiences tuned in and voted for the first pd101, I doubt any boys will tune into this. Also how can you come up with a song as iconic as Pick Me lol there is no way
