Gong Yoo’s “The Suspect” Hits 3 Million Viewers Faster than “The Man from Nowhere”

“The Suspect” has succeeded in reaching the 3 million viewership mark.

Showbox Media Plex reps commented, “On January 5 at around 2PM, ‘The Suspect’ reached 3,554,400 viewers.”

In just three days after its release, ‘The Suspect’ reached the 1 million mark and in eight days after release, the film brought in 2 million viewers.

This 3 million viewer record was reached faster than Won Bin‘s “The Man From Nowhere,” which hit the 3 million mark in 17 days. Furthermore, “The Suspect” is ranking high in the box office, winning over strong Hollywood contenders such as “About Time” and “Ender’s Game.”

“The Suspect” is an action thriller starring Gong Yoo, who plays the role of Ji Dong Chul, a man who lost his family and seeks revenge on those who killed them. This is Gong Yoo’s big screen return in two years since his success with “The Crucible.“

“The Suspect” also stars Park Hee Soon, Jo Sung Ha, Yoo Da In, Jo Jae Yoon and Kim Sung Kyun.

Rumble Fish released first teaser for “Don’t Do That,” off her upcoming mini-album.

The 30-second video teaser was uploaded on LOEN Music’s YouTube channel on January 8.

While her last digital single “Don’t Be Like That” was an upbeat song featuring Rumble Fish’s powerful vocals, “Don’t Do That” sounds entirely different. The track sounds like a sad song, and Rumble Fish sings in a softer tone.

Age Is Just a Number for Yoo Ah In and Kim Hee Ae in New JTBC Drama

Love has no bounds, especially on a Korean romance drama. It has been announced that actor Yoo Ah In and actress Kim Hee Ae will act as lovers on the upcoming JTBC drama, “Secret Love Affair” (working title).

However, the most eye catching aspect of this drama is that the two lovers will play characters who are 20 years apart. “Secret Love Affair” follows the forbidden love of a composed woman in her 40s and a youthful man in his 20s.

Yoo Ah In will play a piano genius Lee Sun Jae. Despite his great talent and youthful spirit, the 20-something-year-old pianist will fall in love with a 40-something-year-old Oh Hye Won, played by Kim Hee Ae. Contrasting from Lee Sun Jae, Oh Hye Won is a calm, polished beauty who works as the planning leader at Seo Han Arts Foundation. She is known for her polite and behaved personality, as well as her excellent organizational skills.

Despite being busy assisting her boss in hiding secret documents, and simply being an outstanding worker, Oh Hye Won finds herself falling deeply in love with a man 20 years younger. The unpredictable love affair between two secret lovers is one to anticipate.

Most notably, Kim Hee Ae, who starred in tvN’s “Nunas over Flower,” will challenge a role that goes against her well known image as a calm and polished mother.

“Secret Love Affair” will start broadcasting in March on JTBC.

After collaborating with famous photographers, JYJ will be releasing the third issue of The JYJ in both Korea and Japan.

On January 8, C-JeS entertainment stated, “The third issue of The JYJ will be released in February in both Korea and Japan.” The agency added, “The magazine will have pictorials of each of the members, who worked with different photographers in a special collaboration project.”

Rain Talks About U-Know Yunho, “He’s A Great Person, I Hope We Have Adjoining Waiting Rooms”

Singer Rain has revealed how he feels about holding promotional activities at the same time as TVXQ.

On the 26th of December, Rain met with reporters at CGV Chungdam-dong’s private cinema for a press conference.

On this day, Rain said, “TVXQ are celebrating their 10th anniversary, and we’ve somehow ended up releasing our songs on the same day. Interesting, isn’t it?” He also added, “I like holding promotional activities at the same time as people I know. I hope our waiting rooms at music shows are next to each other. TVXQ were promoting at the same time as me when I released my fourth and fifth albums. It was a win-win situation for both of us, and it was nice to be with them.”

When talking about TVXQ’s U-Know Yunho, Rain said, “U-Know Yunho’s a great guy I like being around. He’s very loyal and he becomes a source of energy for me.”
Meanwhile, Rain will release his sixth album ‘Rain Impact’ on the 2nd of January, marking his return to the music industry for the first time in four years.

‘Road Of Hope’ U-Know Yunho, “I Learned So Much From The Children Of Africa”

“I think I learned more from the children in Africa than they learned from me.”

U-Know Yunho attended the press conference of KBS’ ’2013 Road Of Hope’ program that was held in Yeoido and said, “I left with the determination to create great memories with the children I was set to meet.”

He continued to add, “I learned about what the children need most. Solving hunger is more important than curing illnesses for them, and they all have a sadness in them that can only be born from experience,” and “I realized that things I take for granted aren’t always available in the opposite side of the world.”

Near the end of his speech, U-Know Yunho stated, “Although I went on this journey to do something for the children, I came back with so many dreams that they gave me.”


The special ’2013 Road of Hope’ program will follow top stars like Lee Bo Young, Park Sang Won, U-Know Yunho and Kim Mi Suk as they travel to impoverished countries to give hope to the children who live there.
Meanwhile, the heartwarming stories will begin airing every Saturday at 5:30pm on KBS1 from the 16th of November.

so K.will became the new DJ for Youngstreet and interviewed his Starship labelmates, the interview is floating around on Youtube but I doubt it'll be subbed anytime soon :(
once again Dasom's busy with Melody of Love filming/rehearsals, I kind of want Starship Planet to do another song in summer with all of them present. They didn't promote Snow Candy because of schedule conflicts and I miss the interactions.

As 2014 begins, we will start seeing new idol groups debut. However, many fade away because of the lack of eye catching songs or talents. However, Funny Collection Entertainment has strategized to make sure their upcoming girl group, “Scarlet,” will not be lost among the sea of debuting idols.

Scarlet’s agency, Funny Collection Entertainment, stated, “In February we will be debuting rookie girl group ‘Scarlet’. Before their debut, we plan to release information about the members of the group. Please give a lot of attention to the upcoming rookies.”

The new girl group will debut with the assistance of Korea’s prestigious staff teams. Scarlet will debut with the song of producer Lim Sang Hyuk, who has produced songs for BEAST, 4Minute, and G.Na. Furthermore, their dance choreography will be planned by Kim Jae Hwan, who was in charge of Troublemaker’s choreography. The stylist Lee Jin Young, who styled both idol groups and musicals, and dramas, will be the head of the style team for Scarlet.

Having completed recording their new song, Scarlet will slowly be shown to the public, and will make their official debut in February. We’re curious who these girls are, and we wish them luck in their debut!

HyunA and Jay Park will be performing at the 2014 SXSW Music Festival (March 11-16) in Austin, Texas. Their names were on the lineup when the third round of artists was announced on January 7.

SXSW consists of a series of film, interactive and music festivals and conferences, and is the largest music festival of its kind. It looks like James Minor, the general manager of the SXSW Music Festival, thought that HyunA would be a good fit after appearing with PSY in the megahit “Gangnam Style.”

The festival includes not just American artists, but also artists and musicians from all over the world, coming together in a showcase-style music festival. Music lovers will get the chance to see over big names and relative unknowns perform at venues throughout the city.

WSJ runs an article on "Korea's Dementia Crisis" in wake of Leeteuk's family tragedy

The tragic deaths this week of the father and grandparents of Lee Teuk, leader of K-pop boy band Super Junior, are raising calls for South Korea’s government to do more to lighten the burden for dementia patient’s families.

The superstar’s father and grandparents were found dead at their home in southern Seoul. According to media reports, police said a note at the scene suggests Mr. Lee’s 59-year-old father, who for several years had been sole caregiver for his parents—both suffering from dementia—committed suicide after killing them. The case is still under investigation.

The financial, physical and psychological stress of dealing with dementia is hitting more and more people in South Korea, where looking after these patients is widely regarded as a “family matter.”
