Sung Joon Opens Up About Boning the Nation's First Love

Actor Sung Joon has spoken up about his 2013 dating rumors with “Gu Family Book” co-star Suzy.

He recently participated in the production press conference for his upcoming tvN drama “I Need Romance 3” on January 8, together with Kim So Yeon, Nam Goong Min, Yoon Seung Ah, Wang Ji Won, Park Hyo Joo, Park Yoo Hwan and director Jang Young Woo.

Sung Joon was linked to popular actress and singer, miss A’s Suzy, last year when they were spotted dining out. A video clip of the incident showed Sung Joon casually putting his arm around Suzy’s neck. Both agencies later denied the rumors, stating that the two were close friends and colleagues, and that other people were present as well.

Sung Joon was inevitably asked about the dating rumors at the conference, and he replied with an embarrassed smile, “What should I say?”

“I got criticized a lot because of it. She’s a very famous person so I think the impact was bigger. If it was someone else, it would have been different. I thought it wasn’t a big deal, but I became number one the next day [in search rankings].”

When asked if he remains close to Suzy, he replied, “I think she’s busy now. We’re not in contact with one another now. I felt apologetic (about the rumors).”

Sung Joon was asked if they were dating, and he denied those rumors flatly, “No. We’re not dating.”

Suzy, herself, addressed the rumors in November last year during miss A’s interviews promoting their second mini-album, “Hush.”

Now that we’ve got the dating drama out of the way, “I Need Romance 3” will tell the story of the lives of “alpha girls” in their 20s and 30s and the rivalry, friendship and love between them, set against the background of a home shopping company.

“I Need Romance 3” premieres on tvN on January 13 at 9:40 PM KST, and will air every Monday and Tuesday.

ngl this makes me really sad, i bet that jype stopped them from meeting after the scandal, and with two soshi members being outed, i bet sports seoul and dispatch are salivating to get more 'incriminating' evidences about them, so i bet they are keeping distance, but i hope it didn't get too much in their way. also the only thing that i really hate about their scandal is that they no longer can be cute on twitter or work in projects together TT_____TT. oh and i'm really excited about INR3!

Its been far too long since his last drama.
I feel like they definitely had something going on, the pictures were pretty intimate-looking (her playing with his fingers esp).But yeah, I wouldnt be surprised if JYPE stepped in considering she's their cash cow and they cant afforf for her to have a dating scnadal

It's ok, it's just funny to me because it's really that one shot that's always brought up.

lol yeah, i kinda got bummed when i watched the video.

but for what is worth, they were incredible close all the time, and very touch, which is something suzy normally doesn't do around people, especially guys. so it definitely shows they are really close, dating or not.

and idk why but her reaction back during hush promotions when they asked her about sung joon and why he had his arms around her was hilarious to me.

I don't think Sung Joon would ever date someone as famous as Suzy tbh (at least not long). I obviously don't know him personally (lol I wish) but I've been a fan of his for a long time and i've read his interviews and seen his in person interviews and he is extremely introverted and doesn't seem to like the whole idol thing. He always avoids cameras bts and just doesn't seem to be too into being famous. I can imagine being with Suzy would be a nightmare for someone like him. I always pictured him with one of his beautiful model friends. As for Suzy god I want someone as beautiful as she is for her, preferably someone not famous. She needs a little normalcy in her life.

suzy is not someone to get close to people easily, and so isn't sung joon, and yet they got friendly awfully fast and connected a lot too. from every single fan account about GFB, even if it wasn't written by suzy fans or sung joon fans, there was always a mention of these two being together, often by themselves in a corner talking. their personalities are pretty similar in some key points (as they like to keep it to themselves and are not very extroverted people) that is enough to make them bond, but different enough to make then invested in each other and she clearly doesn’t care about fame or titles, to be they are actually a pretty perfect match and far from a nightmare. fame doesn't mean a thing when it comes to what the heart wants. they may have not officially dated, but it was pretty obvious by who kept an watch on it that she crushed on him and that he was very taken by her.

i've always thought the same thing, so i was super surprised with their scandal. he seems the type to date super low key and like a grungy-hipster model. i feel like they might have liked each other and were starting to date and this happened and he just freaked out and avoided her after. i don't think he would want any extra attention that is unnecessary.

eh, he wasn't that low key when talking about her, in fact he was pretty open and very vocal about her many times, especially mentioning her in his fan meeting, saying how close they were and that they met often, as well his unumerous interactions on twitter, so i think he knew very well where he was putting himself into and i don't think it freaked him out.

awwnnnn, Suzy baby must be feeling so alone right now. But have faith op, she said in Healing Camp that even if she was dating she would never admit it! And sooner after that interview the dating scandal broke out. They make a perfect otp and she always said that more than anything in a man she would like someone who would understand her and be her friend. Also, she doesn't make the type that would give up easily *dreamy*!!! Also Sung Joon and Suzy didn't seem sooo apologetic about the whole thing, and it would be anticlimatic for him to be too conected with someone irl if he is promoting a new romantic drama. i still haven't seen gu family book but i thought that they would have made a good couple. they both seem down to earth and they look good together.
