Recently, TVXQ‘s Yunho paid a visit to his sunbae Rain, who is currently serving in the army.

An online community board shared this photo of the two stars and an unidentified third person. Rain’s fans were happy to see that their favorite star was looking well, and expressed gratitude towards Yunho for paying a visit despite his busy schedule.

As for Yunho, it looks like he got a new hairstyle; he grew out his hair and dyed it a caramel blond color.

Netizens commented, “Yunho has loyalty”, “It’s so cute to see a soldier holding up a peace sign”, and “I hope to see more celebrities visit their sunbae soon!”

Schoolchildren in Seoul will soon be allowed to dye or perm their hair after the education authorities decided to ban Draconian rules about what they may and may not look like.

Seoul education chief Kwak No-hyun announced a new ordinance on students' rights last Thursday prohibiting schools from restricting the hairstyles of students and giving a lot more freedom in terms of attire.

At present, most of the 1,200 schools in Seoul have regulations for hairstyles and attire of students. They typically ban perms and dyes and regulate hair length.

Now teachers worry that students will go overboard with accessories. The Seoul Education Office says it is discussing whether to put limits on piercing, tattoos, wigs, make-up and accessories.

A middle school teacher in northeastern Seoul said, "Already kids are secretly putting on powder and lip gloss in the restrooms and we are busy confiscating them. Things are only going to get worse."

Under the ordinance, teachers who try to stop students from perming or dying their hair face punitive measures for restricting their rights. For example, a pupil can file a report against a teacher who "recommends" that the student straightens out the perm. If an investigation finds that this is true, the teacher could be punished.

But critics worry that the added weight given to the subjective feelings of students could lead to problems.

The Seoul Education Office said it is looking at authorizing "guidance" should a youngster's appearance cause alarm to others. But some teachers worry that such guidance could be misinterpreted.

Twelve-year-old Sabrina Kaur does not understand the lyrics of her favourite South Korean boy band Big Bang's songs and, until recently, had never met Koreans in real life.

But that did not stop her from joining more than a thousand other Singaporean girls at an audition in the city-state in January to discover a new pan-Asian Korean pop (K-Pop) band to be promoted by a talent firm across the region.

"I want to be the first Indian (Singaporean) girl to join a Korean girl group," she quipped moments before stepping into the audition room, outnumbered by aspirants from Singapore's ethnic Chinese majority.

From pre-teens to retirees, millions of fans across Asia have transcended ethnic and age barriers to share a common obsession with South Korean pop music and dramas -- a phenomenon known as the "Hallyu" or Korean cultural wave.

Netizens are taunting an army unit after learning it designated the podcast "Naneun Ggomsuda” (Naggomsu) as a "pro-North Korean" app and ordered it deleted.

The Army's consolidated maintenance depot (CMD) in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do on Jan. 31 sent out an official notice in the name of the unit commander to units ordering that pro-North Korean smart phone applications be deleted. The notice designated eight apps as pro-North Korean and ordered their deletion, and called for smart phones to be checked to see if they've been deleted every third Wednesday, when cyber-security checks are made. The eight pro-North Korean apps were "Naggomsu"; "Smart Candle," which lets users know where candlelight protests are; "Smart Card," which includes criticism of the current administration's unification policies; "Gaka Retirement Countdown," which shows how many days remain in President Lee Myung-bak's term; "Aeguk Jeonseon," run by the Internet media "Voice of the People"; "Southern Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Reunification of the Fatherland," run by the organ of the Pan-National Alliance for Reunification of the Fatherland; "North Korea World," with North Korean travel information; and "Kim Jong-il Puzzle."

Twitter users sarcastically lit into the Army, with tweets like "Naggomsu's 6 million users are pro-North Korean? Unification is close!" (@ddolddongji) and "Leaving aside whether it's pro-North or pro-South, is a podcast an app?" (@Jinhaemi3). When controversy erupted, Defense Ministry spokesperson Kim Min-seok said in his regular briefing Friday that it appears the commander of a front-line unit made his own decision on the matter, but the designation (as a pro-North Korean app) appeared a bit excessive. An Army official said the commander ordered that measures be studied to deal with pro-North Korean apps, but this was misrepresented and included Naggomsu. He added that a correction was sent out removing Naggomsu from the list.

How did a video of five young North Korean accordionists playing the 80’s pop tune “Take On Me” go viral this weekend?

It’s the product of several years of work and five visits to North Korea by Norwegian artist Morten Traavik, who has gained attention in the past for art exhibitions and performances that cross boundaries in more ways than one.

Mr. Traavik on Sunday welcomed a group of 11 North Koreans musicians and artists to the Norwegian capital of Oslo, their first stop on the way to the Barents Spektakel, an arts and culture festival in Kirkenes, in Norway’s far northeast near the Russian border.

Girls’ Generation has certainly brought the boys out in America: after flying to New York City to make a few nationwide television appearances, the ladies have earned quite a few new fans along the way, including actor and singer-songwriter Simon Curtis.

Best known for his role in the 2009 Nickelodeon movie ‘Spectacular!’, Curtis has released two studio albums, with his most recent album debuting at number 20 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart in 2011.

It all started when Simon Curtis watched the girls’ performance on the Letterman show earlier this week, then decided to take to Twitter to share his thoughts. It turns out he’s already quite the k-pop fan with interest in BoA, 2NE1 and f(x) as well, but a certain lady of Girls’ Generation has caught his eye.

If there is one thing that the public is curious about, it has to be celebrities' earnings because of the rarity of which they is mentioned. However, there are celebrities who drop hints at their salary, and Girls' Generation is one of them.

Girls' Generation made an appearance on "Happy Sunday" awhile ago, where member Yuri commented, "We split event fees equally nine ways. The person who earns the most is probably the member who does the most advertisements."

tvN "eNEWS" dug deeper in analyzing the nine members' individual intakes. According to "eNEWS," Jessica and Tiffany -- who acted in musicals "Legally Blond" and "Fame" respectively -- earned 3 million won (approximately 2,600 USD) per performance, totaling 30 million won over ten performances.

Taeyeon earned approximately 318 million won over her two years as a radio DJ and through her musical performances (radio DJs earn about 4 hundred thousand won per day).

The youngest member Seohyun comes in with about 400 million won because of her various activities as a model (models earn about 200 million won per advertisement).

Lastly, Yoona has pocketed something in the vicinity of 3.4 billion won through her personal activities in dramas and advertisements (approximately 1 billion won for her drama appearances and 2.4 billion for her six advertisements).

As a group, they brought in 60.1 billion won ($53.9 million USD) through their Japanese activities alone.

MBC's weekend programming has been hit hard by cancellations. In the aftermath of the MBC general strike, MBC announced that the planned episodes of "We Got Married" and "Infinite Challenge" for February 4th would be cancelled. In their place, previously aired specials from the two popular shows were aired instead.

Because of these programs, MBC regularly receives the highest viewer ratings for their Saturday night time slots. With the re-running of past specials, MBC will take a big hit in viewership rating.

"Show! Music Focus" and "World Changing Quiz Show" were still aired normally, but the "Weekend News Desk" was only ten minutes long.

The strike began on January 30th at 6AM, with protesters pushing for the resignation of the MBC Labour Union President Kim Jaechul and the normalization of the company.
