Oh my goodness, I stalked this episode over the weekend. and kept refreshing it until the subs were done. Dayoung is my favorite flawless ice princess and props in this episode goes to Lauren! There was soooo much drama centered around Leo that if you didn't pay attention, then you probably missed all the precious Dayoung/Lauren interactions.
I think this the first time I've ever actually been annoyed with a Mblaq member. Mir's baby imitations and attention hogging drove me nuts. And of course the whole incident at the end of the episode... I forgive him for it though. I'm happy the other members scolded him. Honestly not everyone understands how introverts work and especially with children, it's a learning process. This is only the 3rd episode and the boys are slowly learning. I look forward to see how the improve as the show progresses.
Joon has already improved a ton, he makes mistakes but he learns from them and for that I adore him. I'm super impressed by Thunder as well. I think these are the two more sensitive members, so they are able to sense the children's emotions more easily than the others. I hope Seungho will become more accessible to the other kids. G.O. was just kinda there this episode lol.
Thunder paying that much at the toy store...really?!
I wish Mir and whoever thought dayoung is spoiled stop thinking that way. He irks me to no end. It's hard for me to be kind and forgiving when kids involved. lol. But since he's still young and inexperience, there's room for improvement.
Is Thunder grew up w/o his dad or something? I'm not really MBlaq fan so I don't know that much. Just pick up from here and there. He seems so different around the kids compare to the others. Not in the bad way tho. He actually looks like the father figure among them since he does not play around that much. Joon is like a big bro-turned dad-turned big bro. But the fact that he is willing to change his view and way of disciplining the kids as the program goes on is admirable.
This is the first time I've seen Thunder somewhat pissed, I was happy he gave Mir the same treatment that Mir gave Dayoung. I don't disagree with what Mir did because my mom was like that too, but that's not the way to help her break her shell. And I like that Joon listened to his mom, it shows that he isn't set in his ways and is willing to learn. His little bit about how looking at Dayoung felt like he was looking at his past self made me tear up ;_;
I can't believe my friend and I got into an ~argument just because she said she didn't like Dayoung and that Lauren was basically perfect. I will defend my steak-loving ice princess til the end of time!
Joon so far is winning in the appa department. There are time's when he acts childish with the kids but he know's how to become the adult and show them what is wrong. From a standpoint, I can see where MIR is coming from. Him snubbing Daeyoung wasn't totally right but it wasn't totally wrong either. For the member's to scold MIR it was right. Daeyoung is a shy child so it's interesting to see how the guy's are all trying to adjust to her. Joon, being the one who feels as if he can understand her more, really is doing a good job trying to connect with her. Thunder is a comforting appa to Leo and while that can be good at the same time LEO needs a HUGE lesson on what is wrong and what is right. I like how Joon is trying to connect with him.
/agreeing with what everyone is saying. So disappointed at seungho... I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you!!! but it's only the third episode so I'm sure things will change. Thunder is also doing a pretty good job, I can't believe he actually payed that huge amount at the toy store O_O
mir wtf is wrong with you. That's not how you should discipline an introverted child. Ugh, watching this show makes me want to jump in and sweep all three of them away and raise them myself. Hopefully they get better. :/ Seungho needs to stop only paying attention to Lauren. They need to sit down alone with Leo more often and tell him why the things he does are wrong, A+ for Joon in this episode though. He did the right thing with Leo. And poor Dayoung. ;__; My ice princess.
Joon is good, I'm really glad he's doing so well. He notices all the little things about each of the kids. Mir's method would work on a kid like Leo perhaps but never on a shy kid like Dayoung. He's trying too but it's not working out. Thunder is great too and G.O. and Seungho...are ok, but I expected more from them.
honestly so far this season is the most disappointing for me... the other seasons i think they acted more like parents but mblaq is acting more like babysitters... hopefully it gets better.. . .
There are several things about this episode I have something to say about.
LIKES:
-The crew did solo interviews with DaYoung so you got to see what she really wanted. I had been confused when she didn't want anything in the toy store, but when she explained that what she wanted wasn't there, then I understood. I was just sad the Mblaq boys either didn't think to ask her what she wanted specifically, or she chose not to tell.
- Joon getting DaYoung to smile. (Too bad the members ruined it when they oggled her for smiling, and later, for talking. Easy way to make her clam up again)
-Leo chose Joon as the real appa. (Joon has a long way to go, but he's the only one who has actually enforced discipline with Leo. That makes him the closest to a father figure)
-Joon comforting Dayoung when she cried
-Thunder shielding Leo when Joon was too aggressive
- When Joon punished Leo he got down to his eye-level and explained why he was on the naughty chair and got him to apologize. That's EXACTLY what you're supposed to do.
DISLIKES:
-Joon constantly putting his fingers/hand in Leo's face. He was trying to be friendly, but he was pushing himself too hard onto Leo and it intimidated Leo
- Joon making Leo uncomfortable by throwing a fit Leo chose Thunder of him. I think Joon was just playing around with him, but little kids don't get things like that and they get hurt easily. Leo even said that Joon hurt his feelings. I hope that improves.
-Mblaq members are not on the same page. They made some general rules for the kids, but only Joon and Mir attempt to enforce them. And when they do, they get scolded. While Mir misread the situation, Joon was in the right for disciplining Leo and still no one but Mir backed him up. As soon as the kid cried, they scolded Joon. They need to sit down and get on the same page so they are consistent with their praise and punishment. Kids get confused when multiple adults are giving mixed signals. And when all the adults gang up on Joon and Joon is the only one giving Leo a punishment, then leo interprets that as Joon picking on him just to be mean, and not as an actual punishment.
-Mir making so many "I love you Lauren" comments. I figure it's Mir being his normal weirdo self, but I was slightly uncomfortable by how many times he said it. Granted, she is absolutely adorable. I think Mir is just frank and says things other people would say to family members or would keep to themselves.
- Mblaq's inability to share the burden. How in the world do they have a 100 dollar budget for groceries and a 800 dollar toy budget? That makes no sense. If Seungho couldn't get all the groceries, Mir should've just bought the other half. Why put it all on one member? Also with the toys, shouldn't they just have put the rocking chair back? That's 700$ worth of groceries, books, or smaller toys they could've gotten. And again, why should Thunder pay for it all? They should've each chosen to buy one present for each child (excluding Seungho who had already done that).
Finally, I feel that Mir handled Dayoung inappropriately, but I don't think his method was wrong. I think if he had used that method with a kid like Leo, it would've worked or it wouldn't be a big deal. But since Dayoung is shy, it made the situation much worse and it'll probably be harder for them to get close. Mir acts like a goofy big brother. Nothing wrong with that, but for the show they need to be daddies. So probably Mir will have a hard time doing them. He's impatient and still bratty himself, so he'll but heads with the kids more than he can understand them I think.
I'm hoping once Mblaq talks to professionals, they'll finally take steps to discipline the kids. Funnily enough, it's the discipline that shows your love, let's you kids know the boundaries, and separates you as a parent. It's the parents who acts as a rock that kids go to when they need someone dependable, not the fun friend.
I think it's so odd that they made up a fake competition in the last episode, but from what I've noticed Dayoung and Lauren are quite chummy.
It always tickles me to see kids so straightforward about things and timid about others. I actually think that while Dayoung is putting on that bitch face all the time, she's thinking really hard about things before she gives a reply. She doesn't seem to be used to doing things like eating (unfamiliar food?) with the appas yet. In a few more episodes she'll probably open up to them a bit more.
Lauren is such a good child. I can see why she is treated with more affection, whereas with Dayoung, the guys don't know what to do because she doesn't say anything.
It was excellent the way Joon took Leo into a separate room and actually explained to him why he was in trouble, how what he did made others feel, and what he should do in the future. I thought that was great! It's stern, but not abrasive. And you're totally right, by coddling the children after they do something wrong or don't get their way, it really does undermine what little discipline and rules Mir and Joon are trying to establish.
I look forward to seeing Joon grow more in the show.

Date: 2012-02-06 04:24 am (UTC)I think mblaq aren't used with children, hence their inability to deal with crying children except mir (he has a nephew) and joon.
I won't think much of the money,I think they'll get repaid or sth like that.
