Infinite – the rookies that worked hard to get to where they are, debuting in Japan in November 2011.
After going through 2 long years of training, they’ve mastered the technique of 99.9% synchro-rate dancing.
Hence, their high quality music allowed them to gain first place on Korean music shows, causing them to become singers of the best quality.
‘BTD (Japanese Version)’ is a lively dance track which will allow you to feel their charms.
Continuing from the previous topic… Let us better understand them this time!
Asian Place (AP): Firstly… I’d like to ask, what do you usually do before recording?
Is there something you take special note of, or something that you’d do often?
Sunggyu: I’d eat many things before recording! (laughs)
If I’m hungry, I can’t sing openly. (laughs)
After eating, I’d have the energy to sing.
Sungyeol: My situation is the opposite of his.
When I’m recording, I’m hungry. (laughs)
Before recording, I’d drink some water to moisten my throat.
Dongwoo: I’d wear exercise clothes to record.
Like this, it’s more relaxing and easier to record.
Woohyun: After memorizing all the lyrics and beats, I’ll play some games.
Under a situation like this, without any pressure, the outcome of the recording will be better.
AP: So, for all of you, you’d relax first, then record. What about Hoya?
Hoya: Firstly, I’d take off my clothes.
Dongwoo: What did you say you’d take off?! (laughs)
Hoya: What I meant was that I’d take off whatever I can take off. (laughs)
It’s not that I’d strip myself. I’d just remove my outer coat and shoes.
Then, I’d change into slippers… because I like wearing t-shirts.
I’d try to record after losing weight.
AP: If you see Hoya taking off his clothes, then, it’s time for Hoya to record.
Hoya: Whenever I’m wearing very little clothes, there’d always be someone who brings water to me. (laughs)
That person is Sungjong?
Sungjong: That’s right, it’s me. (laughs)
AP: Then, what about Sungjong?
Sungjong: For me, I won’t do anything special.
However, I’d get myself excited and then enter the recording room.
This is my style; I’d start recording after I feel good.
L: I’d practice continuously in the recording room.
Once I practice well in a familiar environment, my voice will sound nicer.
I don’t need to move to another place, I can record directly.
AP: I see that everyone has their own way.
Now, let me ask you a question regarding the lyrics of ‘BTD (Japanese Version)’.
In the lyrics, wasn’t there a part that was “夢見る (dreaming)”. Have you had any dreams recently that left a huge impression on you?
L: About three days ago… before arriving in Japan,
I dreamt that… I was moving forward riding a robot.
Then, around twenty dogs appeared and surrounded me.
AP: Did you run away?
L: I didn’t; I also don’t know why I just stood there.
Not long after, I woke up. This is my mysterious dream.
Hoya: Recently, I haven’t been dreaming because I haven’t been sleeping well.
I’m so tired that once I lie down on the bed, I fall into a deep sleep immediately.
Woohyun: My dream’s really disgusting. I dreamt that many worms and insects appeared and attacked me.
I don’t know what it’s trying to say…
Sungjong: Recently, I keep having dreams like this:
I’d be standing alone at a high empty place, hesitating if I should jump.
In Korea, they say that if you jump down from a high place in a dream, you’d grow taller.
So, I’m seriously considering if I want to jump.
Woohyun: You should be jumping down quickly. (laughs)
Sungyeol: Last time, I dreamt that I was flying.
AP: Were you happy?
Sungyeol: I wasn’t; I fell from the sky. It was a little scary.
Dongwoo: I played car racing with the members.
Sungyeol: What was the result?
Dongwoo: I won!!
Sungyeol: If we were to really play car racing, the results will be the opposite, right? (laughs)
Dongwoo: You really think so? I want to try. (laughs)
Sunggyu: I had a dream that I fought with Dongwoo.
Dongwoo: Ah, I remember that story. (laughs)
Sunggyu: After I woke up, somehow, I thought that the dream really happened so I didn’t talk to Dongwoo. (laughs)
Then, I called Sungyeol and said “Do you want to eat anything? I’ll buy some back for you,” something like that.
We were chatting and there was a very strong image in my head of me and Dongwoo fighting.
So, I told Sungyeol to talk to Dongwoo because I can’t talk to him directly.
But Sungyeol said to me, “What are you talking about? You didn’t quarrel with Dongwoo.” (laughs)
AP: Then, you knew that it was a misunderstanding?
Sunggyu: At that time, Sungyeol explained to me and then, I realized “It had been a dream.”
After that, I returned back to reality afresh. (laughs)
AP: It’s hard to imagine.
Sungyeol: I got shocked too. (laughs)
Dongwoo: I’m really thankful that Sungyeol told the truth. (laughs)
AP: Then, the net keyword!
In the lyrics, there’s also the “言葉 (words)”. Recently, what Japanese phrases have you learnt?
L: ‘I fell in love with you at first sight’.
AP: Did you say it before?
L: I asked the staff what I should say to the fans and they taught me this sentence.
So, I immediately learnt it.
Hoya: ‘Because of your help, we’re able to do well’.
AP: This sentence is rather long!
Hoya: For Japanese, it’s better to start with sentences so that’s what I’m learning.
AP: When you’re buying things, will you speak in Japanese too?
Hoya: If it’s simple words, it isn’t too hard.
If I go out alone, I won’t get lost. (laughs)
AP: Okay, what about Woohyun?
Woohyun: ‘Until our bodies break into pieces, we’d do our best’.
AP: Can this be used?
Woohyun: ‘Practice, practice, practice’.
AP: The phrases that you use have a lot of strength. What about Sungjong?
Sungjong: ‘Presents will be our good music so you’d be able to feel even better’.
AP: This sentence seems longer than the other members’! (laughs)
Sungjong: I took two days to memorize this.
Sungyeol: My sentence is very short. (laughs)
‘Hungry, hungry.’
(T/N: There are two meanings to this phrase, peko-peko, which is either used when bowing or when you’re hungry.)
Dongwoo: Mine is a perfect sentence. ‘Do you want to travel now?’
Sunggyu: Mine only has one word. ‘A confident expression.’ (laughs)
AP: Thank you, all. (laughs) Then, the next word is “抱きしめて (hug)”.
What do you think is the best way to hug a girl?
L: When the girl is waiting for me at wherever we’re supposed to meet, I’d slowly walk over and give her a back hug.
Isn’t this good?
Hoya: Ah, this one isn’t too bad. (laughs)
For me, I’d gently hug the girl from the back when she’s cooking in the kitchen.
Woohyun: When I’m doing this, the girl must be shorter than me, reaching around my chest level, and I’d hug her strongly. (smiles shyly)
Dongwoo: I agree with Hoya about hugging the girl when she’s cooking. (laughs)
Sunggyu: After the girl says goodbye, I’ll turn back and hug her.
Sungyeol & Dongwoo: Ooooh!! (laughs)
Sungjong: I want to hug the girl tightly and pull her into my embrace.
Sungyeol: It’s good enough to imagine… Hugging, and also… a sweet kiss.
AP: The last keyword is ‘forever’.
What’s the thing or thought that you wish would be your forever?
Hoya: I really like photographs.
For me, I want to put all our photographs together into one album.
I want to eternally keep the photos that are filled with pleasant memories.
L: I want to keep all the CDs/DVDs that we’ve released.
Woohyun: Those trophies that we received from winning first place!
Dongwoo: Every member and our present health condition.
Sunggyu: This isn’t what I really want to keep but I hope it’d last to the end.
It’s our Inspirits’ peace!
Sungjong: The photographs that I took with my family.
And also, the photographs from our debut period.
Sungyeol: What I want to keep… My family’s love and also, the relationship between the 7 of us!
AP: All these will last forever!
