It’s been revealed that singer/actor/MC Lee Seung Gi had originally intended to step down from his MC position on SBS‘s ‘Strong Heart‘ by the end of this October.

After it was announced that KBS‘s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ would come to an end in February 2012, Lee Seung Gi had met with the producers of ‘Strong Heart’ in the beginning of September and expressed his wishes to leave the show.

However, after Kang Ho Dong shocked the nation with sudden news of his temporary retirement from the entertainment industry on September 9th, producers have been desperately trying to dissuade Lee Seung Gi from leaving the show. After all, if both MCs suddenly stepped down from their positions, the show would no longer be able to exist.

An official from the broadcasting company revealed, “The producers of ‘Strong Heart’ are currently quite at a loss for what to do now that one MC has officially stepped down and the other had originally intended to leave soon. The situation is changing everyday so we are not sure yet if Lee Seung Gi will really leave the show.”

Some believe that Lee Seung Gi should use this as an opportunity to gain experience as the main MC of a show. An official commented, “From the beginning of this year, Lee Seung Gi had been dreaming of one day hosting a show as the main MC. He could use this as a chance to start standing on his own.”

However, it’s been said that Lee Seung Gi had wanted to step down from entertainment programs in order to focus on advancing into the Japanese market and participating in other foreign activities. Since ’1 Night 2 Days’ would be ending in a couple months, it made sense for him to leave his MC position on ‘Strong Heart’ and pursue other activities.

From tryp96: Soon after the hankooki article came out, Strong Heart’s production team spoke to a reporter and refuted the rumors (kind of). They didn’t confirm or deny whether SeungGi had expressed any wish to leave the show. But they said that HoDong’s retirement announcement had caused SeungGi a lot of emotional distress and SeungGi was having a difficult time, but he would not be leaving Strong Heart abruptly. Hook states that there has not been any discussion at all about SeungGi leaving the show, and SeungGi plans to continue participating in the recordings.

Supernova's Yunhak to enlist in the army by the end of October (video added)

Vocal dance group Supernova had a Live tour in Tokyo today ( September 15,2011 ).

After performing all 25 songs and doing the encore, Leader Yunhak has announced his enlistment in the army by late October and this will last for 2 years.

Yoonhak has stated ” Thank you for the cheers and please keep on supporting them, they will still continue as a 5 member group ” to the 5000 fans that attended the event today.

Yoon Eun Hye will have another milestone to celebrate other than her birthday this October. According to a local news agency, the actress is set to star as a tragic heroine alongside Asian superstar Chow Yun Fat, “Nodame Cantabile’s” Tamaki Hiroshi, and Taiwanese pop star and actor Alec Su in the historical film “Tong Que Tai.”

“Tong Que Tai” will play out the story of a beautiful woman who was buried alive with Cao Cao, a figure in the Chinese historical novel-chronicle “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” which is based on the events surrounding the end of the Han Dynasty and the rise of the Three Kingdoms era. The film is inspired by the mystery surrounding the remains of a 20-something woman found in Cao Cao’s tomb that the Hunan State Bureau of Cultural Relics dug up and the Chinese Academy of Science confirmed.

Vehicles sit paralysed on roadways after traffic lights went out in some areas in Seoul

Millions of South Koreans suffered rare power cuts Thursday due to unusually high autumn temperatures and scheduled maintenance work, officials and reports said.

The Korea Power Exchange reported temporary blackouts in many areas around the country, affecting as many as 1.62 million houses.

"This is extremely rare...I haven't seen a blackout of this scale," a spokesman told AFP.

"Power demand has been unusually high due to unseasonably hot fall weather, causing a shortage," he said, adding that the cuts were expected to end when the temperature dropped in the evening and demand fell.

South Korea's defence ministry said 6,957 women currently serve in the army, navy, air force and Marine corps

South Korea's military will put more women in the frontline as part of efforts to expand their opportunities in the armed forces, an official said Thursday.

Boo Jae-Won, head of the defence ministry's personnel planning bureau, said 12 combat branches will be opened up to female soldiers between 2012 and 2014.

"We will open up artillery and armour branches of the army to women," Boo was quoted by Yonhap news agency as saying. The air force's air defence and the navy's fire control would also be opened.

David Choi Opens Up with His Thoughts on K-Pop



Songwriter and producer David Choi recently shared his thoughts on the ever-growing K-Pop industry with viewers on YouTube.

David Choi, the famous YouTube artist, begins by mentioning that his fans frequently write about K-Pop in his video comments. In addressing the popular topic, he reveals his thoughts on the growth of the Hallyu wave, appeal and images of celebrities, and the direction of Korean entertainment.

While Choi believes that early Korean artists copied American music, he states that K-Pop today has improved greatly to "well-crafted," "catchy," and good sounding music. Yet he does not see eye-to-eye with the appeal of "girly guys," and the seemingly endless numbers of girl and boy groups debuting as some lack originality and depth in a cookie-cutter fashion.

Acknowledging that viewers may dislike what he has to say, Choi encourages fans in saying, "If you like a certain style of music, listen to it. No one is stopping you. The more you listen to it, the more you support… It's people like you that make K-Pop bigger and bigger… Listen to it, support, buy their albums, go to their shows. That's how they grow as artists and bands."

It’s just been revealed that B2ST‘s Doojoon is currently receiving treatment after he ripped the cartilage in his knee.

On September 15th, representatives of Cube Entertainment revealed, “His left knee has been in a poor condition for a while. Recently, he’s been repeatedly mentioning that it hurts, so we took him to get a check-up at the hospital. Results showed that he ripped the cartiage in his knee.”

They continued, “Fortunately, the injury isn’t severe.  He’ll be getting regular check-ups at the hospital to get drug treatment, and doctors said that he’ll be okay in no time.  Fans do not need to worry.”

Actress Lee Ji-ah will return with an MBC drama after her divorce.

According to several officials, Lee Ji-ah is currently going through casting for the MBC drama "Girls". She takes on the role of a female police officer who falls in love with a underwear brand CEO.

Some say this role is roughly the same as the tough role she had in her debut MBC drama "The Legend".

This drama is written by Kim Do-woo, the expert on romantic comedies, from MBC's "My Name is Kim Sam-soon" and CP Ko Dong-seon from MBC's "My Wife is a Superwoman".

Meanwhile, Lee Ji-ah stayed at home ever since news about her divorce and marriage to singer Seo Taiji got out last January. The divorce ended in July and she took some time off to get back on her feet.

Sung Shikyung Releases MV For "I Like/Even Now"

Korea’s ‘Prince of Ballads’, Sung Shi Kyung, has finally released the music video for his new song, “I Like“, from his highly-anticipated comeback album, ‘The First Time‘!

Set in Hong Kong, the video features acting from Jo Yeo Jeong and the singer himself. The artistic visuals of the video makes it feel like it’s a scene straight from a movie.

What caught everyone’s eyes, however, were the four almost-kiss scenes that appeared throughout the 45-second teaser.
