Lee Seung Gi to also leave ‘Strong Heart’?

It’s been revealed that singer/actor/MC Lee Seung Gi had originally intended to step down from his MC position on SBS‘s ‘Strong Heart‘ by the end of this October.

After it was announced that KBS‘s ‘1 Night 2 Days‘ would come to an end in February 2012, Lee Seung Gi had met with the producers of ‘Strong Heart’ in the beginning of September and expressed his wishes to leave the show.

However, after Kang Ho Dong shocked the nation with sudden news of his temporary retirement from the entertainment industry on September 9th, producers have been desperately trying to dissuade Lee Seung Gi from leaving the show. After all, if both MCs suddenly stepped down from their positions, the show would no longer be able to exist.

An official from the broadcasting company revealed, “The producers of ‘Strong Heart’ are currently quite at a loss for what to do now that one MC has officially stepped down and the other had originally intended to leave soon. The situation is changing everyday so we are not sure yet if Lee Seung Gi will really leave the show.”

Some believe that Lee Seung Gi should use this as an opportunity to gain experience as the main MC of a show. An official commented, “From the beginning of this year, Lee Seung Gi had been dreaming of one day hosting a show as the main MC. He could use this as a chance to start standing on his own.”

However, it’s been said that Lee Seung Gi had wanted to step down from entertainment programs in order to focus on advancing into the Japanese market and participating in other foreign activities. Since ’1 Night 2 Days’ would be ending in a couple months, it made sense for him to leave his MC position on ‘Strong Heart’ and pursue other activities.

From tryp96: Soon after the hankooki article came out, Strong Heart’s production team spoke to a reporter and refuted the rumors (kind of). They didn’t confirm or deny whether SeungGi had expressed any wish to leave the show. But they said that HoDong’s retirement announcement had caused SeungGi a lot of emotional distress and SeungGi was having a difficult time, but he would not be leaving Strong Heart abruptly. Hook states that there has not been any discussion at all about SeungGi leaving the show, and SeungGi plans to continue participating in the recordings.

It'd be interesting to see how Seunggi handles Strong Heart without Hodong. He's come a looooooong way with his MC skills, and he's been doing so well, but I've always thought he's the type that needs a co-host.

pretty much. he had already been planning on leaving too, so it sucks for him to be thrown into this situation after deciding already. he already went through a lot of stress over mcing as a cohost, there's probably more now that he has to think about mcing by himself or as the main one. not to mention 90% of SBS's advertisements come from strong heart D:

Please don't end the show! I think even with different MCs the show will still work since it's more centered around the guests and their stories (though I will miss HoDong and I'll miss SeungGi too if he leaves). But it's understandable if SeungGi is feeling distress over HoDOng's retirement. They were working on 2 shows together for a long time.

Poor baby! I know he does fine on his own, but I still mostly think of him as 1n2d's maknae, and it's sad to think of him not having his hyung around to look up to any more.

I heard someone say Boom might take over some of KHD's hosting slots? He'd do great on Star King, but I think he's not a good choice for Strong Heart. Seunggi does work better as a co-host, but maybe they can get someone else and LSG can be the sunbae for once? I dunno.
