Yoon Eun Hye will have another milestone to celebrate other than her birthday this October. According to a local news agency, the actress is set to star as a tragic heroine alongside Asian superstar Chow Yun Fat, “Nodame Cantabile’s” Tamaki Hiroshi, and Taiwanese pop star and actor Alec Su in the historical film “Tong Que Tai.”
“Tong Que Tai” will play out the story of a beautiful woman who was buried alive with Cao Cao, a figure in the Chinese historical novel-chronicle “Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” which is based on the events surrounding the end of the Han Dynasty and the rise of the Three Kingdoms era. The film is inspired by the mystery surrounding the remains of a 20-something woman found in Cao Cao’s tomb that the Hunan State Bureau of Cultural Relics dug up and the Chinese Academy of Science confirmed.
Yoon Eun Hye will play the woman, opposite Chow Yun Fat’s Cao Cao. Tamaki Hiroshi plays the era’s warrior Mu Shun. Alec Su will play the Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty, who Cao Cao and his son usurped.
It is also reported that the Zhao Lin Shan-helmed historical will begin filming in Beijing this coming October, with a release date intended for the last quarter of next year. With its pan-Asian cast, the film is expected to come to theaters and reach audiences across the region.

Date: 2011-09-16 02:11 am (UTC)Why would they cast Korean and Japanese artists to play a role from Chinese historical story? If it's a more international plot, maybe I can understand.
I hope they can create a good plot and not some mediocre fairy tale-like story.

Date: 2011-09-16 02:47 am (UTC)but yeah, kinda confused why they'd need yoon eun hye to be the leading lady....and why tamaki is a chinese warrior, or why alec su is the emperor (chow yun fat as emperor makes more sense, no?)
still, star-studded movie, gotta at least check it out ^-^

Date: 2011-09-16 06:02 am (UTC)I like Yoon Eun Hye ever since Coffee Prince but I don't think she's at the level where her acting can pull off something this... heavy? lol idk what correct term to use but yeah what I'm saying is she's always played gutsy heroine roles (cept MFL probably). It'll be a good venue for her to expand her acting capabilities tho

Date: 2011-09-16 07:50 am (UTC)Korean-Chinese-Japanese movie < Tong Que Tai (銅雀臺)>, which Yoon Eun Hye will play the tragic heroin, will begin filming in Beijing next month.
Takungpao.com (京華時報) reported on the 13th that "Tong Que Tai" will tell a story about a beautiful woman who was buried alive with Cao Cao (曹操) of the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". It reported that the movie will crank-in with glamorous casting of actors including Yoon Eun Hye, Chow Yun Fat (周潤發), Alec Su (蘇有朋), Japan's Tamaki Hiroshi (玉木宏), and etc..
Zhao Lin Shan (趙林山), a famous Chinese director will direct the movie, and it is expected to simultaneously open in multiple Asian markets in October of next year.
The story is based on the mystery regarding the remains of a woman in her twenties, found in Cao Cao's tomb by the Hunan State Bureau of Cultural Relics (國家文物局) and confirmed by the Chinese Academy of Science (中国社会科学院).
Director Zhao explained that he will display a story based on the final days of Cao Cao, who built Tong Que Ta (銅雀台) at the capital of the Cao Wei state. The story will focus on his strategies and his final love.
Cao Cao will be played by global star Chow Yun Fat, and Yoon Eun Hye will play Young Juh (靈雎)*, who is loved by him.
Director Zhao stated that he wrote the scenario for the movie, as he thought about the unknown woman, upon hearing the news of Cao Cao’s tomb being discovered in Anyang (安陽), a historical site of the Cao Wei state.
The scenario contains Cao Cao’s thoughts and strategies during his final few years of life, his wars against Shu Han and Eastern Wu, his relationship with his son, and his love interest. The large theme that represents the movie is that of great love and conformity.
In addition, Tamaki Hiroshi will play the warrior Mu Shun (穆順), who battled Lu Bu (呂布) during the three kingdoms era. Alec Su will play Emperor Xian of Han (獻帝), who is usurped by Cao Cao and his son.
Note: *Yoon Eun Hye's character Young Juh (靈雎) is written in Korean pronunciation of the Chinese name.
This is because I could not find any information about this character in the historical sense, so I don't know her proper name. Some posts have mentioned Gong lin ju as the character's name in Chinese pronunciation. But this could be a fictional name. Some other sources have reported that Yoon Eun Hye's character is actually Lu Ling Qi (呂玲綺), a warrior daughter of Lu Bu (呂布).
In addition, beautiful Chinese female star Yan Ni, seasoned actor Ni Da Hong(倪大紅), Lu Yao(姚魯), Wu Xiu Bo(吳秀波), Nie Yuan(聶遠), Jang Yi Oyang(張耀陽) and etc. will appear in the movie.
