SM asserts that BoA won't be making a 7th Korean comeback this year

When BoA tweeted that she was spending her Chuseok holiday in the recording studio, rumors swirled around the possibility of a Korean comeback by the end of the year.

On September 11th, BoA had tweeted, “Is everyone spending a good Chuseok? I’ve been having such busy days lately, so much so that I even forgot it was Chuseok. I’m going to be spending my Chuseok in the recording studio~”

Many wondered whether she was recording for a Korean comeback, and several industry representatives even included her in their list of returns for the latter half of the year. Representatives of SM Entertainment, however, have asserted that she will not be making a comeback this year.

They stated, “We know that a lot of people are curious about whether she’ll be making a comeback this year, especially after her Chuseok tweet, but BoA has no plans of releasing another song this year. She’s always been recording songs whenever she has spare time, and the song she recorded over Chuseok will most likely be released as a Japanese single or another album.”

Kang Ho Dong‘s recent retirement has left everyone wondering if all four of his variety shows will be discontinued early.

Over the Chuseok holiday weekend even the production crew of the programs were curious about what the future would have in store for them.

Rumor has it that the first program to go will most likely be ‘1 Night 2 Days‘. Kang Ho Dong’s charisma has carried the show for over 4 years, and because of the attachment the members have for each other, they will probably quit together.

S. Korea's college completion rate highest among OECD countries

South Korea has the highest rate of young adults completing high school and college among the member countries of the Organization of the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a survey showed.

The OECD's annual Education at a Glance survey, based mostly on statistics from 2009, showed that 98 percent of South Koreans aged 25-34 graduated from high school while 63 percent completed college, the highest rates among the 34 members of the rich nations' club.

The result was released Tuesday.

It marked the third consecutive time that South Korea has topped the list of high school education among the age group in the annual survey. The results also marked the second time in a row that the country has ranked No. 1 in the college education rate in the age bracket.

Actor Jang Geun-seok revealed a picture of him getting treatment for his sty.

Jang Geun-seok posted a picture on his management, Tree-J Company's official Twitter, "Now everyone will recognize me. Drinking with Haido gave me a sty and I can't see. Who am I and where am I?"

In the picture, his right eye has been plastered up with gauze. He is wearing a white sleeveless with a uniquely shaped necklace.

On September 14th, it was revealed, “T-ara will be parodying Nam Jin‘s ‘With You’ with Himart’s current model, actor Yoon Sang Hyun. Himart has always chosen the most popular stars for their endorsements, and this time they’ve chosen T-ara (their first ever idol group models), thanks to their ‘Roly-Poly‘ popularity this summer.”

2NE1 drawing attention in Japan before their debut, interview on ‘Hey x3′

On September 12th, the popular Japanese TV program ‘Hey! Hey! Hey! Music Champ‘ held an interview with 2NE1 as they prepare for their debut in Japan on September 21st.

In the interview, leader CL talked about their wardrobe concept saying it was a “punk style” in Japanese. Sandara Park was asked what was the most recent word that she learned in Japanese and she responded, “Kawaii (meaning cute)” lifting the atmosphere of everyone on the set..

2NE1 is scheduled to appear on the show again on September 26th and October 10th, proving their rising popularity and anticipation in Japan.

2NE1 will release their Japanese debut mini album ‘Nolza’ on the 21st, and will hold 6 concerts for their debut Japanese tour. The concerts will be held at the Yokohama Arena on September 19-20, Kobae World Commemoration Hall on September 24-25, and Makuhari Messe in Chiba on October 1-2.

T-ara sings the official theme song for SBS and JDX's new Public Service Announcement

The electronic beats combine with a sporty atmosphere to create a dance song with a message they wish to convey to the public.

T-ara are joining with domestic sport players Park Jisung, Park Taehwan and Kim Yuna by taking part in a new campaign with SBS and the professional sports and golf enterprise JDX. T-ara was chosen because of their bright and lively feeling. This is the first time a girl group and not a sports star has joined in the project.

T-ara's "Log-In" is done by rapper and composer MARCO, who has worked with Secret, Beast, Untouchable and Outsider on their albums. The electronic mixed with sporty feeling makes a fun dance song.

Meanwhile, T-ara recently started the retro craze with "Roly-Poly" and "Roly-Poly in Copacabana" and are starting their Japanese activities this month.

For one, the title of “girl group” doesn’t seem to quite fit them as they stated, “We’re women, so it makes sense to call us a girl group, but it’s quite awkward. F.T Island To Come Back Before The Year's End

Successfully completing their two day concert last month, Korean rock-pop band FT Island has been confirmed for a comeback before the year's end.

According to an official from FNC Music, the band is currently working on their new album and will most likely return in the music scene before winter. As of the moment, they agency are discussing on its format and the official date of their new release. They also hinted that they are currently finalizing the dates for their upcoming concert tour in Asia.

FT Island released their last album "Return" last May as they promoted the track "Hello Hello," after which they flew to Japan to continue their promotional activities there.

FNC Music to debut Juniel through Warner Music in Japan

FNC music is most likely famous for their pop rock bands CN Blue and FT Island, but they have a great set of trainees as well. One of them, Choi Junhee, or Juniel as her stage name seems to be, will debut with her first single in Japan.

"Forever," together with 2 b-sides and an instrumental, will be released on November 2nd and will mark her major debut under Warner Music, the label that just recently signed a major contract with CN Blue and also has labelmates FT Island.

The company also brought CN Blue to Japan where they released 2 mini albums even before they debuted in Korea with "Bluetory" in January 2010. It is said, but not confirmed, that this might be the case for Juniel as well, and her Japanese debut might bring her to Korea later on.

The young artist has performed in many different Japanese venues up until now. An earlier recording of a show was revealed through the Internet sometime last year, but it shows us a little of the musical direction she's going.

Artists under the ‘Big 4′ agencies (YG, SM, JYP, and Cube Entertainment) have dominated music program wins this year, taking home around 74% of the winner’s trophies!

From the first week of January 2011 to the second week of September, a total of 108 trophies have been given out by the three music programs that declare winners – ‘Music Bank‘, ‘Inkigayo‘, and ‘M! Countdown‘.

Out of those 108 trophies, 80 of them went to artists under the ‘Big 4′.

Ludacris Signs Agreement with YG Entertainment for Collaboration

Ludacris's visit has been a highly anticipated one, as there were recent reports that he would be visiting YG Entertainment to meet with officials. As it turns out, he'll actually be working closely with the label for his own Korean advancement.

Ludacris will be a signing a MOU agreement (memorandum of understanding) with YG Entertainment upon his entrance to Korea on September 19. On September 20, he'll be opening up an official press conference with YG officials to announce his new collaboration.

Through the MOU contract, Ludacris will be featuring for YG's idol groups and such and work closely with the label for his own musical ventures. He will also be releasing his "Soul by Ludacris" luxury headphones through YG in Korea as well.

"Ludacris has always shown a large interest in K-Pop, which was how this MOU contract came about. YG has decided to join hands with Ludacris to support his efforts in showing traditional hip hop in the Korean music scene as well as join him in his headphones venture," officials of PR Bridge said.

The latest trend clearly shows that singers have to appear on variety shows to gain popularity. Such a trend as this has been bitterly criticized on the grounds that the music industry and TV variety shows have developed a sort of back-scratching relationship.

In this environment, however, we can see a few ‘idol’ singers who seem to have the courage to keep themselves off the shows that hardly have anything to do with music.

FNC To Debut A Girl Group

FNC Music, the agency housing rock idol groups F.T. Island and CNBLUE, have just revealed that they’ll be debuting a girl group!

On September 15th, a representative of FNC Music revealed, “There’s a female group that’s been preparing to debut since a long time ago. Even though their debut has not been officially announced yet, many fans have already tried to contact them through our office.”

FNC Music has been specializing in artists who follow the ‘rock band’ style. They’ve received acknowledgment in the Korean music industry for molding F.T. Island and CNBLUE into all-star groups, and therefore, this new piece of information is drawing much interest from music officials, who are curious about the girl group’s musical flavor and concept.

The representative concluded, “This is a group that was made to debut and is comprised of the most elite trainees. We cannot reveal if this group will be a band or a dance group, but it’s a team with many charms and talents, so we ask for your anticipation.”
