“Man From the Stars” to Be Released as a Film in China This Summer

“Man From the Stars,” which gained explosive popularity all over Asia, will be released in China as a movie this summer.

According to reports from Chinese media on May 7, production company Meng Jiang Wei (盟将威) revealed that they bought the publication rights for the popular Korean drama. A movie official stated, “We are currently in the tail end of productions, and the movie is tentatively set for release in the summer. If the current pace continues, the film should premiere in June.” However, according to Star News, an official from the Korean “Man From the Stars” production company HB Entertainment said that the movie will probably be released no earlier than August of this year.

Cutting down the 21-episode Korean drama, the Chinese film will be molded into a two-hour movie. The two-hour film will not be just a compilation of important scenes, but will include unreleased footage and scenes, as well, and can be expected to premiere this summer.

T-ara will release their third Japanese album Gossip Girls on May 14 and ahead of the release, Choa Nikkan Sports had the chance to interview them when they were in Japan for one of their album promotion activities at the end of March. Although there are only six of them, they are confident of their new album which has a lot of original Japanese songs. The conducted interview lets them speak on the new album and their recent personal lives.

Joo Won Cast in Chinese Film alongside Hangeng

Actor Joo Won has been cast in the Chinese film “Xiao You Qiao Mu.”

Chinese distributor and investment publisher China Film and entertainment agency Yue Hua Entertainment will be making this movie as a joint project and are planning on showing a new paradigm through this Korea-China joint film.

The original work which the movie will be based on is an internet novel that has been popular for four years.

For the lead role, along with Joo Won, they are currently looking for young people who are unique as actors. Hangeng, formerly of Super Junior and who filmed the upcoming movie “Transformers 4,” will be playing one of the male lead roles. The director of this movie is Jo Jin Kyu.

Lee Sang Kyu, the representative of the Korean branch of Yue Hua Entertainment, explained, “Joo Won’s drama is currently receiving a lot of love in China, and not too long ago when the news of Joo Won appearing in the drama ‘Nodame Cantible’ was published, many showed interest. We are anticipating that it will be gain a lot of popularity since many are anticipating China’s classic wave and the Hallyu drama.

Continuing on, Lee Sang Kyu said, “I believe a great synergy will occur for this movie as Joo Won works with the best Chinese actors.”

The filming will begin in May and are planning on traveling to Korea and China to film. The movie is a love story between one girl and three guys.

OP shall tell no lies and share too much info. Once the movie was confirmed my thoughts were 1. Yay, Junho's hitting all the major genres with the movies he's in 2. Yay, rom-com/bromance? with up and coming actors that I like 3. Kisseu sceeeeeneee!!! Maybe... Possibly a shower scene??? *squeeeaaalllll of pure delight* *blushes because I embarrassed myself thinking about it* IMO Channana's got the best kiss scene out of 2pm members. Clearly biased but excited about the others in this movie too in particular Kang Ha Neul.
