The series will revolve around Park Hoon, a South Korean who was captured with his father and grows up in North Korea. He is trained to become a genius doctor, and though Park Hoon lands a job at the best South Korean hospital after defecting, he is treated as a foreigner. To find his lost North Korean first love, Song Jae Hee, he does anything to make money.

This drama just reminds why I love this boy so much. He goes from adorable to attitude in a flash. He oh so eloquently nuances his characterization so that you see the impact on the character after every chapter. *spoilerish* The love of JH, the loss of losing her, the coldness of having to do unspeakable things, the guilt of losing his father...He brings each aspect into his performances so beautifully it astounds me. Wonderful acting by an exceptional actor.

So far I really like this drama, I admit it's kind of a hot mess but the characters and the pacing make it up.
I'm really impressed by Lee Jong Suk, considering he was kind of a brick in Prosecutor Princess, he's come a long way just within 5 years.

Hoon and Jae Hee are an incredible otp, they may reach King 2 Hearts level. I'm surprised by Jin Se Yeon, she has some chemistry with Lee Jong Suk, though I couldn't help and chuckle a bit (and cry), when everything started to go downhill right after their engagement.

It broke my heart, when Kim Sang Joon/Hoon's dad died and wow, did they really kill his mom, I hope not, I believe Secreatry Kim might be a good guy, well at least there should be one good guy out there.

Anyway my guess is that Jae Hee is the brainwashed Seung Hee but idek...

This drama is just another display about how good Lee Jong Suk is as an actor. He really freaking knows how to emote, and anyone who thinks he's just a pretty boy doesn't know sht or are just too prejudiced to really see how good he is!

All in all, the drama plot started off kind of weirdly, since as an American born after the drama "nuclear scare" I can't even imagine this country doing that ever lol but the plot is shaping up more and more in ep 2! I'm really more excited for the surgeon stuff than the N and S Korean drama parts tbh. (Somehow the first ep reminded me of City Hunter's first ep...)

I'm also pleasantly surprised with the funding... SBS always has loads of funding but damn, that motorcycle/car chase in freaking Budapest, that was wow.

also the casting is filled w/ my favorite actors from other dramas so I'm quite excited and can't wait for the next episodes!!

i liked the first two episodes. i was worried we'd get 4 episodes with the major characters as kids, then another four with them as teens etc but i'm glad they dispensed with all the back story rather quickly. i just think the writer/director needs to stop with those over the top screams from LJS

also, i didn't understand why he was in jail in south korea.

mmkay now that i'm here agin

1. ugh ljs is so pretty and he gets pretty in different ways in each drama and ugh he has abs now too and it's great and ugh did i mention he's pretty

2. jin se yeon is not actually as bad as i thought she'd be! i am almost taking my words back because she' s very pretty and had the perfect "first love" type of look and only thing that bothered me was her lack of north korean accents (she seemed to have given up on it entirely for hungary scenes). we'll see how she does playing seung hee.

3. the storyline is choppy, like i understand that jin hyuk wanted to get the north korea and hungary scenes out of the way but everything moved wayyy too fast and there were people who couldn't keep up. i think the background music didn't help either, made everything look even choppier and can they please turn the volume down like everything is being overpowered by the ooh-oohs.

4. riding a motorcycle all over a city you don't know being chased by north korean agents and then being saved by a sniper who just happened to have a long range rifle gun was highly unrealistic but hey the chase scene was pretty so i'll stop complaining. :D

5. oh man this guy

he and ljs are gonna be the new otp in my life i know it ugh and he's so hot in his evil sexy ways mmmph
