[Editorial] 'Control' Korean hip hop - wrap up of the recent controversy

With Swings pulling out of the diss battle with the release of 'New World' and there being no response from Amoeba Culture + Gaeko other than "respecting their artists' decisions," could this finally be the end of the big brawl?

Everyone may be calling out Swings as the "bad guy who started it all," "a coward for backing out," or just some vulgar rapper who can't say personal things to someone in person but I personally respect Swings for what he did in the past few days. Sure, the angry cussing may have been something additional that wasn't quite necessary but for the most part, I think he did what needed to be done, intentional of his track becoming this controversial or not.

And the reason why I believe that this was needed was because Korean hip hop was in a state of withdrawal for quite a long time. Kind of like what Dead'P had mentioned in his track, the underground scene was moving up into mainstream and in order to do that, rappers had to change what they delivered to not just underground fans but the general public as well, so why not go down the safe route in selling yourself out with love songs?

Second solo album... Participated as a lyricist, a songwriter, and a producer

Seungri (real name Lee Seunghyun/23) is relatively a lighter character in Big Bang. He also demonstrates his talent on variety shows with his happy personality and skills at talking.

However, his presence in Big Bang was weak. G-Dragon showed his individuality through songwriting and rapping, TOP through rapping, Taeyang and Daesung through their vocals, but Seungri's role was to support them.

kwon Sang-woo was furious about the rumor with Kang Ye-bin. kwon Sang-woo posted on his fan café saying, "I'm being disturbed when I'm living my own happy life"

He said, “I saw a pamphlet saying that I am in a relationship with Kang Ye-bin. I’m frustrated because I know it’s someone else”.

“I can laugh about it but my family and fans, what have they done? I am grateful for selecting me as an ideal type but I’ve never even met her before”.

“I am Son Tae-yeong‘s husband and trusting father. Don’t be jealous of us”.

kwon Sang-woo must’ve been angry with the rumor about a top female and male star that was supposedly him.

The Semi Finals are over but I knew a few biases were always gonna be left behind in the competition due to the way the groups were made. So to your bias, who was possibly in an unlucky group, Omona Bias Games will be giving one bias a chance to get in to the final. Yes that's right Omonatheydidn't is serving up some American Idol/X Factor realness right now with a Wild Card vote. But before that lets get over the winners of the last Semi Final round.

Lee Sang Soon proposes to Lee Hyori via video

Although Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon have already announced their plans for marriage, Lee Hyori wasn't officially proposed to until after they decided to spend their lives together. Luckily for fans, she shared a video of the magical moment!

Lee Hyori tweeted, "I was proposed to. hehe I will brag a bit^^." In the video of Lee Sang Soon's romantic proprosal, Lee Hyori's friends gave their congratulations and warm wishes for her to live a happily married life. Lee Sang Soon then popped the question, which Lee Hyori jokingly rejected by saying, "No." In the end, she accepted and even attempted to put the ring on herself in true Hyori fashion.

KCON 2013: The World of K-Drama Recap

This year I went to Day 1 of KCON to attend The World of K-Drama panel, brought to us by Viki, featuring actor Sean Richard and Dramabeans owner/editor Dramabeans and Girlfriday. I actually wasn’t going to go, but I ended up going to help out the awesome girls from KPop Savant and I’m so glad I did! While the panel was scheduled at the very beginning of KCON (Doors opened at 10am, panel started at 11am), giving me the feeling that the powers that be wanted to get the panel out of the way so that the KPOP portion can finally begin, I have to say it was my favorite part of the day. Not just because I’m a drama fan before anything else, but because it was nice to meet people that were interested in having serious conversations about the many times ridiculous world of dramas. That’s rare.
