Jihae to leave Girl's Day

Five-member girl group Girl’s Day will be promoting as a four-member group for the time being with Jihae leaving the group.

Their agency revealed, “Due to personal reasons, Jihae will be absent from the group starting with the promotions coming up with the release of the album on the 26th. For the time being, Sojin, Yura, Minah, and Hyeri will be promoting as a four-member group.”

“Reason behind Jihae’s leave is personal and something that has been deliberated on for a long time. Part of it includes wanting to concentrate on her studies (Jihae is majoring in dance at Sungkyunkwan University)… On Jihae’s future, Jihae and the agency will be discussing various options,” they said.

The agency requested for the understanding of fans as they concluded, “We offer our apologies to the fans for this situation and Jihae no longer promoting as a member of Girl’s Day… Please give Jihae your support.”

The other members will be making a return on the 26th with their 5th digital single “Don’t Forget Me“.

The one man who started the giant controversy, however, is still at large, drawing concern from the general public.

On October 10, the justice department dismissed the appeals filed by seven of the sentenced defendants in the first trial and gave just one female, who was originally given a jail sentence, a lesser punishment of a two year probation for 10 months in jail and 200 hours of voluntary work. The justice department dismissed the appeals saying, “The motives were foul and the methods shallow. The victim is still willing to severely punish [the accused].”

He is also known to be an avid Twitter user, sometimes using the platform as a debating ground. The following are some of his tweets with other users on the misogyny trends on the Korean Internet, from a male rights activist group to economics of dating. The netizen comments from Newbbang, one of the most popular and female dominated internet communities on Daum compares Prof Chin’s tweets with that of Mr Sung Jae-gi, the head of a male rights activist group, the Man of Korea. But it would seem that at least from female netizen’s point of view, Prof Chin seems to win by a landslide.

On October 18th, Jessica attended three separate events: the “Love Your W” breast cancer campaign event, Korea’s third annual “Barbie and Ken Awards” ceremony, and the opening of flagship store, “KOON WITH A VIEW”. Jessica started her busy day by attending the seventh annual breast cancer campaign “Love Your W” at the “Fradia” venue near the Han River. Each year, “W Korea” magazine organizes a campaign to promote early screening of breast cancer and a healthy, active lifestyle for women. Jessica attended the “Love Your W” event in 2011 as well.

Later that night, Jessica attended Korea’s third annual “Barbie and Ken Awards” ceremony alongside TVXQ!’S U-Know Yunho at the Crystal Ball Room of Banyan Tree Hotel. Each year, a female and male celebrity that had a positive effect on culture and are fashion icons just like Barbie and Ken are chosen and awarded with one-of-a-kind dolls from Mattel made to resemble them. Dressed in a white wedding dress designed by Lee Myunsoon, Jessica truly looked like a Barbie doll.

The last event Jessica attended was the opening of of “KOON WITH A VIEW”, a flagship store in Gangnam-gu, Sinsa-dong. This store is a high-end lifestyle shop with a total of six floors providing uniquely fashionable clothing for women. Jessica was seen in an orange mini-sweater and a high waist black skirt.

As demonstrated by the undeniable success of overnight sensation Psy and his "Gangnam Style," Korean pop music, otherwise known as K-pop, is certainly making its mark on American culture. And Psy isn't the only one making a name for himself, as K-pop girl group 2NE1 (pronounced "twenty-one") may be the next on the horizon for crossover success.

In just three short years, the group — CL, Dara, Minzy and Park Bom — has sold 27 million digital downloads, was voted MTV Iggy's Best New Band in the World in 2011 and had their first American performance at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

MTV News recently caught up with 2NE1, and after sharing some surprising secrets about themselves, they revealed that they have been hard at work on their English-language debut album with none other than will.i.am.

"We did a lot of studio sessions and we've been working on some songs, but we are waiting for the perfect song, the magical song," CL said. "It was really fun and [will.i.am] invited us to his house studio and we just had fun making music and talking, just like we do back in Korea."

2NE1, who are currently on their first ever New Revolution global tour, admit that they don't have a timeline of when their debut album will be released, but CL said they hope to release "at least a single" by the end of the year. "I really want an English version of our song or whatever it is to have people connect to it," she added.

The group, which credits the Spice Girls and TLC as their girl group influences, have become sensations in Korea for their eclectic style, impressive rap skills and catchy songs.

Yet, they aren't the only K-pop girl group gaining attention, Girls Generation and the Wonder Girls have also exploded onto the scene, but according to 2NE1, there is no competition between the different groups since they all bring something different to the K-pop scene.

"Korea right now is so passionate about music and about performing. I think people feel that, people really feel the energy and passion, and I think that's what's different," CL said. "I love the fact that its girl power right now. It's all girl groups that are rocking K-pop right now so I'm happy about that and I respect that we all have different characters of the groups."

121015 Actor, Satoshi Tsumabuki, appeared at the premiere showcase for “Fly with the Gold” along with co-stars such as Tadanobu Asano, Kenta Kiritani, Junpei Mizobata, Changmin (Tohoshinki), Toshiyuki Nishida, and director Kazuyuki Izutsu. This was the first time Tsumabuki paired with director Izutsu, saying “Everyday is stimulating. I was afraid since I heard that it would be a strict filming site.However while watching the directors attitude on not giving up, I re-realized that ‘It’s not easy to make a movie’”. Also proudly stating “We were able to create a cool Japanese movie that has never been made. I hope that people can feel the life of 6 guys.”

U-KISS’ Dongho released from hospital

U-KISS’ Dongho has now been released from the hospital.

The idol star, who was sent to the emergency room last week, canceled all his promotional activities to receive treatment for lung issues (pleurisy).

Agency NH Media announced on October 18, “Dongho has been discharged [from the hospital] after receiving surgery on the 15th. His health has greatly improved.”

Dongho has yet to recover completely, however. He’ll be resting at home for the time being. NH Media stated, “He has not recovered completely yet, so he’s resting at home. We’ll be checking in on his condition every day to figure out when he’ll be able to continue his schedule and join U-KISS promotions.”

U-KISS is currently preparing for their upcoming Japanese album.

A Pink transform into autumn goddesses for Ceci Magazine

Girl group A Pink recently participated in a photo spread for the upcoming November issue of Ceci Magazine.

During the shoot, which was themed after a ‘young girl’ motif, the A Pink members shed the peppy image they usually portray on stage and showcased a more mature image in their photos.

A representative from A Cube Entertainment stated, “While the members have recently been busy with their individual schedules, being able to gather together for the first time in a while allowed for a bright and cheerful atmosphere on the set of the photo shoot.”

Netizens responded to the photos saying, “They’re no longer young girls, but young women“, “Looking at the photos, it really feels like autumn“, and “Of course, the A Pink fairies“.

Meanwhile, member Na-Eun is currently taking on roles in the SBS drama ‘The Great Seer‘ and the JTBC drama ‘Childless Comfort‘ simultaneously, while member Eunji is busy practicing for her role as ‘Elle Woods’ in the musical ‘Legally Blonde‘, which she chose as her follow-up project after the conclusion of ‘Reply 1997‘.

Details on B.A.P's 3rd single album

This time, B.A.P will reenact the dance music that was loved in the 1990s in a futuristic style for a retrospection of the origins of K-pop.

Through this single album, <Don’t Do It>, B.A.P will aim for the ‘hipster’ that does not go along with the flow of the masses and pursue the essence of their own unique fashion and music culture.  For this, through teaser images, each member has already brought out fantastic neon colors and shown the unique fashion of B.A.P, and for the first time, they will take the challenge of a dramatized music video (T/N: one with a story line) and through the performances, they will illustrate the youths of the future though the ‘hipster’ fashion that led the evolution of fashion in the 90s.

B.A.P will display for the first time their title song ‘Don’t Do it,’ which is the same name as the name of their third single album, by the composer of B.A.P’s ‘Crash,’ Sistar’s ‘Loving You,’ MBLAQ’s ‘It’s War,’ who has been recently nicknamed as the hit-song manufacturing machine, the composing team Duble Sidekick along with Kim Wonhee, to make a collaboration product and reenact the dance music sounds that were loved in the 1990s. Also, the 90’s R&B ballad style song, ‘Happy Birthday,’ and the intro song ‘Yes Sir,’ which is embellished by the old-school music that was popular in the 80s, are anticipated to present enjoyment to people in their 20s and 30s, as well as a new fresh type of music to teens.

The B1A4 members promoted their own concert BABA B1A4 in the streets themselves, but a lot of fans didn′t recognize them. How could this be?

On October 18, B1A4 members Jin Young and San Deul tweeted, "The B1A4dolls!! Did you get to meet them this morning?^^" and put up pictures of
the members in animal costumes. It turned out the members had disguisedthemselves in animal costumes and given out flyers for the concert in
front of a number of schools in Seoul.

Despite its being only a two-year-old idol group, the group is already in line for an exclusive concert, marking an unprecedented feat as one
of the most successful idol debuts of 2011.

A rep from M-Live, CJ E&M′s global concert brand, said, "Even officials are surprised at
the hot reactions B1A4′s concert has been receiving. A small portion of the tickets were sold on October 15, and despite its being a limited
reservation, almost 25,000 people logged on to the site 10 minutes before the tickets were to be opened."

B1A4 plans to continue promoting its much anticipated concert through such unique means.

CNBlue’s Lee Jung Shin Chops Off His Signature Long Locks

CNBlue bassist Lee Jung Shin showed off a newly transformed self in “Elle Girl.” Dressed in oversized winter tops, he was seen with a shorter do.

In the interview following the photoshoot, Lee Jung Shin shared his thoughts on his acting debut. He humbly stated, “I hope I can approach the public both as CNBlue’s Lee Jung Shin and rookie actor Lee Jung Shin without aversions.” When asked about his fellow CNBlue members, Lee Jung Shin brightened as he revealed that the members enjoy playing “anipang” games and sending each other hearts. He explained, “With Min Hyuk’s help, I was able to set a record of 56 points. As a result, I was able to become a hero for a week. But these days, we’re slowly getting over it.”

When asked what he did better than others, Lee Jung Shin replied, “I’ve achieved everything through practice not because of natural talent. However, if I were to pick one, I would say being able to make a good, friendly atmosphere. My close friends have told me that I give them trust.”

The Korean Culture Center and the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange collaborated to open a forum at George Washington University in Washington D.C. to take a closer look at Hallyu.

Titled, ‘Global Hallyu Forum – Riding the Hallyu Wave‘, Sun gave a presentation on the campus all in English as she discussed the good and the bad, and the future of Hallyu, while sharing some of her own experiences.

Psy disappoints with single song concert (lol)

Fans left out of pocket and frustrated as Psy performs one song in his only Australian club appearance.

It was billed as the only nightclub appearance by global music hit Psy. In the end it amounted to fans paying up to $3000 to hear one song.

Marquee promoted a red carpet appearance from Psy, followed by a live performance by the South Korean phenomenon designed to cap off the three-day visit that saw him sweep into Sydney on Tuesday to do press interviews and appearances on X Factor and Sunrise.

Tickets started at $130 and the main attraction wasn't due on stage until midnight - on a school night - so this was clearly a concert for dedicated fans.

2UE's Entertainment Rerporter Alice Workman was in attendance and reported that there were "people in booths who paid more than $3000 for table service to hear one song."

The audience, which according to Workman ranged from Korean pop (K-Pop) fans to accountants, was eager to see the South Korean perform. "There was a mixed crowd really excited to hear this one song."

Psy duly took to the stage at 12.15am and delivered his smash hit Gangnam Style to the enthusiastic audience.

"He did the song," Workman reported on air this morning, with Psy receiving "general approval from the crowd.

"Then he spoke a little about how he’s very happy to be in Sydney he’s had a great time, this is the last thing before he went home. And then he left."

Workman reported that though some were really happy just to have seen Psy, "there was general disappointment among the room."
