The Supreme Court has reversed a controversial government decision to label songs by two popular music groups as "harmful to youth."

Last summer, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family ruled that After School's "Funky Man" was sexually suggestive and that the music video for Orange Caramel's "Bangkok City" encouraged underage fans to visit nightclubs as it is set in one.

But the nation's high court on April 27 agreed with Pledis Entertainment, the agency for the two girl groups, which filed suit to nullify the ruling last October. The agency made its success public yesterday.

Music designated by the government as "harmful to youth" must carry a label with those words in stores and cannot be purchased by customers who are 19 years of age or younger.

"The words contained in 'Funky Man' describe a cheerleader and there is nothing suggestive about it," the court said. "Meanwhile, 'Bangkok City' doesn't encourage teenagers to visit clubs," the ruling continued.

Kim Daan, the drummer from the rock group N.EX.T has been found, just a few days after he was reported missing by his friends and family. According to the police on May 5, Kim was located by a squad from Gangnam Police force on May 4.

Kim is thought to be in good health and is back at home with his family.

Although the police did not reveal where he was found, they said that they were able to locate the missing musician through the help of Gwangju police force after they were notified of the drummer's vanishing on April 30.

Kim's absence sparked much interest among netizens as he used his Facebook to write some peculiar messages while he was missing. "Fools. I hope it all works out for you," Kim wrote on April 29. The following day, he commented again, saying, "At least I know that my life wasn't as worthless compared to yours. Thanks for the reminder."

Kim's last Facebook activity was on May 2 and he was found just two days after. It is yet unknown as to why the star went into hiding.

A-Jax member, Seung Yub, revealed a picture of when he acted as Lee Hoon’s son in the past.

On May 6, Seung Yub of DSP’s newest group, A-Jax, revealed on his group’s official Facebook a picture of when he was as a child actor.

In 2006, Seung Yub appeared in SBS drama Love and Ambition, acting as Lee Hoon (Tae Soo) and Choo San Mi (Jung Ja)’s eldest son, ‘Hoonie.’ For this production, Seung Yub spent his early teens as Hoonie for about four months. Aside from Love and Ambition, Seung Yub has appeared in various dramas and sitcoms in supporting roles, and was active in the musical, The Sound of Music, and was a model for the student uniform brand, Smart.

Even as a rookie singer with eight years of acting experience under his belt, Seung Yub said on May 7, “While I was performing in the musical, I fell in love with music and decided to try and be a singer. I hope to be a multi-talented entertainer, who is able to act and sing.”

Meanwhile, Seung Yub’s seven member rookie group, A-Jax is planning on making its debut at the end of May and will be the first boy group for DSP Media in five years. The members are currently part of MBC’s music reality program, Making the Star – DSP Boyz.

Here’s the million dollar question, “What is CNBlue Jung Yong Hwa’s actual height?” As we reported about a week ago Jung Yong Hwa was seen at the Baek Sang Art Awards (Held on April 26) and he looked pretty short.

According to his profile Jung Yong Hwa is supposed to be 180cm. (About 5 feet and 10 inches)

With the recent news that Dalmatian's Day Day has left the group for personal reasons, the new member of the team has been revealed on May 8th.

On May 8th through a press release, Dalmatian's agency said, "The existing member Day Day has left the group due to personal reasons, the new member to join the group in their upcoming activities is Simon."

Simon's father is Korean and his mother is Japanese, and he is also known to be fluent in English, making his language-knowledge count to three. He is also versatile in rapping, singing and dancing.

The new member was quoted saying, "It has been a lifelong dream of mine to have a music education in Korea. I learned about the Korean culture through my father. I haven't forgotten my roots. It's an honor to be a Dalmatian member. I will hone my skills to give you the best."

Simon will join Dalmatian leader Inati, main vocalist Jeesu, lead vocals Daniel, and vocalist Youngwon. Simon's vocal and rapping abilities will help the group build a new look.

After a year and 3 months of hiatus since their last release, Dalmatian is set to release their 2nd mini-album, "State of Emergency." It has been known that the members were directly involved in the making and production of this album, taking the helm at writing, composing, and producing the tracks, working hard to make this the perfect album for fans who have waited for them for so long.

Solo artists Baek Jiyoung and IU have been battling it out on the online charts.

On April 7th, Baek Jiyoung released “Voice” just three days after IU’s release of “Peach” and have both managed to take the first spot on various online music charts. “Voice” had topped the real-time Melon charts as well as Soribada, while “Peach” claimed first place on Olleh Music.

Both ladies have been holding their own against popular girl groups such as Taetiseo’s “Twinkle” as well as Sistar’s "Alone." Both artists can truly be considered Queens in their own right, especially since both “Voice” and “Peach” are both “teaser” songs released ahead of the title track of their new albums.

Baek Jiyoung’s “Voice” is a song with an R&B tempo and a soothing yet heartbreaking melody, which is said to bring Baek Jiyoung’s charm to a new level, while IU’s “Peach” is a song that uses acoustic sounds and speaks about a young girl’s happy feelings when starting a new romance.

MBLAQ is set to be featured on an upcoming episode of outdoor variety show "Running Man" and was spotted filming for the show on May 7th.

A production staff member further revealed that MBLAQ's episode will run on a different concept and will have the group appear as a team. The regular cast members and MBLAQ will be racing on the episode and are expected to produce an entertaining episode for the show.

MBLAQ's Lee Joon, who is known for his entertaining and variety skills, is expected to leave a strong impression for the episode with his humor and antics. MBLAQ's upcoming appearance for the show will be aired on May 20th.

Recently, Korean media Ilkan Sports ran a survey asking, “Which girl group member has the most glamorous (busty) figure?” The survey asked a total of 8,000 fans, and the results were quite surprising as SISTAR’s Hyorin beat out Secret’s Hyosung and Girls’ Generation’s Yuri for the top honor.

Ilkan Sports described Hyorin’s bodyline using words such as “amazing curves” and “perfect line.” It pointed to her 22-inch waist and C-cup breasts for the honor, saying, “Her butt is so tight, it makes you wonder if she saved the world in her previous life.”

Galaxy Express, one of South Korea's leading indie rock bands, turned down the chance to perform in the United States two years ago.

"We were asked to participate in a project called SeoulSonic designed to bring South Korean rock groups to North America. But we said, 'No. Why do we have to? We are already doing great and are busy here,' " said Park Jong Hyun, the Hongdae-based band's guitarist and vocalist.

But, in March last year, the band relented. And this year, the band - known for their brand of garage punk and psychedelic sounds - took a bigger step forward. The trio performed at the famous South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The owner of a South Korean karaoke lounge where nine people died in a weekend blaze had made illegal alterations to the interior which made it hard to find emergency exits, police said Monday.

The fire on Saturday night in the southern city of Busan also injured 25 others. The dead included three migrant Sri Lankan workers who were holding a party with Korean colleagues from a car parts company.

The blaze started in an empty room near the front door and spread quickly through the lounge. The victims inhaled toxic gases after being trapped inside.

"The owner was found to have altered the structure of his lounge illegally," a police investigator in Busan told AFP on condition of anonymity.

Idol group SHINee, composed of 5 members, will appear in a webtoon.

Webtoon ENT. is produced by Writer Yoon In Wan in cooperation with SM Entertainment. The third Illustrations for the webtoon were released on May 8.

SHINee’s Onew, Jong Hyun, Min Ho, Key, and Tae Min were illustrated and portrayed in the webtoon . SNSD members were illustrated at the end of April and drew a lot of attention.

Besides SHINee and SNSD, illustrations for f(x) will also appear in the webtoon as friends of the main characters.

The webtoon is about a high school student who is secretly a member of a new group from SM Entertainment and a writer who finds out his secret. The writer writes a fictional story about him and his agency and releases it into the world.

Artists from SM Entertainment will appear in the webtoon with their real names.

The webtoon will be pre-released as a black and white version on the online cartoon site Club Sunday. It will start appearing on Naver Webtoon on July 4. The color version of the webtoon, which readers can see by scrolling down, will also include songs from SM.

The CEO of Open World Entertainment has been prosecuted on charges for sexually assaulting his female trainees.

The Women/Children Criminal Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office charged Mr. Jang for rape and violation of child protection laws. According to prosecutors, the CEO had sexually assaulted several female trainees under his agency from 2010 to 2012.

However, the previous accusation of the CEO forcing male idols to participate in the sexual assault have been dropped as the prosecutor’s office was not granted the authority to indict.

A representative from the prosecutor’s office revealed that as the female trainees did not try to escape the situation nor were they prevented from moving by force or threats, the case involving the male idols did not fall under rape. Instead, it would fall under the use of authority and power to force others into sexual relations. However, cases that fall under such a category must be reported within one year of the occurrence. With the time frame required having passed, the prosecutors were not given the authority to indict the CEO on the charge of forcing male idols to sexually assault the trainees.

North Korea has announced that Shin Sook-ja, a 69-year-old South Korean woman stranded in the Stalinist state for over two decades, has died and that her two daughters renounced their father who had escaped back to the South.

In a response letter to the United Nations, Ri Jang-gon, the North’s deputy ambassador to the U.N. headquarters in Geneva, said Shin “died of the hepatitis she suffered since the 1980s” before arriving in the North. It referred to Shin as the “ex-wife” of Oh Kil-nam, who has been fighting in Seoul for her release.

The daughters “do not regard Oh as their father since he abandoned his family and drove their mother to death.” The letter, dated April 27, was made available by the International Coalition to Stop Crimes Against Humanity in North Korea (ICNK).

Big Bang member G-Dragon revealed that he started out as an SM Entertainment trainee.

During the May 8th broadcast of Mnet‘s ‘Wide Entertainment News,’ some previously unrevealed stories about certain celebrities were released.

In particular, everyone was surprised when the truth was revealed on this episode that Big Bang’s G-Dragon lived as an SM trainee for 5 years. G-Dragon entered SM when he was 8 years old and began to cultivate his dream to become a singer, but sometime throughout this process, he ended up moving agencies, over to YG Entertainment, where he has stayed until now.

As G-Dragon currently has a variety of activities with YG Entertainment, he receives recognition for his talents from the music PDs. Additionally, his unique fashion sense always makes him a topic of conversation.

SISTAR‘s Hyorin reveals the story of losing her first love to her best friend.

On the May 8th broadcast of SBS Power FM ‘Jung Sun Hee’s A Night Like Tonight,’ guests SISTAR discussed the topic of ‘songs that remind you of your first love.’

In particular, Hyorin remarked,

“I have a style where I can’t hide that I’m dating, so my best friend, my boyfriend and I would often hang out as a set. I easily trust people, so I never once suspected anything between the two of them, but one day, my boyfriend suddenly notified me that he had fallen in love with my best friend. To me, they were both special people that I could not lose. I understood and acknowledged what was between them.”

Kara‘s Jiyoung proved her popularity once again as a pair of rubber gloves featuring her autograph sold for 3.75 million won (approximately $3,300 USD).

A netizen uploaded the above screen capture of a Japanese auction site on an online community board with the title, “Kang Jiyoung’s signed rubber gloves“.

The highest bid for the signed pink rubber gloves in the photo was an impressive 264,000 yen.

The auction was held before KARA wrapped up their concerts in Japan, and the event received a strong response as this event was highly meaningful for Japanese fans.

Korean netizens replied to the photo with “KARA must be very popular in Japan” and “Well, it can happen in our nation too. This is true fanship.”
