[..] We have prepared the column “star story” in our publishing which not only tells a truthful side to stars, but their past that brought them to where they are today. This episode’s protagonist is Himchan who has stepped forth into the music industry with his strong charisma as he let his name be known with the title of “ulzzang from a Korean traditional music high school.”

And in the end, he finally took his first step into high school but it wasn’t as easy as he thought it’d be. When he took his placement exam, he made a mistake in throwing his stick for his janggu [*T/N: Janggu is a traditional Korean drum that has two sides to play on opposed to one].

JB AND JR ARE INDEED DEBUTING!

Earlier, JYP Entertainment had released a new mysterious teaser, informing the public on an upcoming group “JJ Project“. Although many had already assumed JJ to stand for JB and Jr., the details had not been confirmed until now.

JJ Project indeed is composed of members JB (Lim Jae Beom) and Jr. (Park Jin Young), who were both accepted as JYP trainees in 2009 through JYP’s 5th audition. The two then made their debut in the popular KBS drama ‘Dream High 2‘, familiarizing themselves to the public.

Born in 1994, JB played the leader of boy band in the drama, showing off his powerful dance skills. On the otherhand, JR, who is currently attending Gyeonggi High School, played the role of JB’s backdancer, Jung Eui Bong. Jr. was given his stage name due to the fact that his full name, Park Jin Young, is the same as J.Y. Park’s, which had resulted in his nickname of ‘Park Jin Young Jr.’

A representative of JYP Entertainment stated, “We believe JYP Entertainment’s new project JJ will be the most pleasant and exciting project that JYP has ever done. Please continue to look forward to JYP’s ‘jackpot’ JJ Project.”

Korean government steps in to prevent entertainment agencies from defrauding trainees

With more cases of fake entertainment agencies surfacing, tricking young hopefuls out of their dreams, the government has decided to step in with preventive measures. On May 9th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism announced that they will be investigating entertainment agencies and launch a database that requires agencies and managers to register to be considered legal, as a preventive measure.

The ministry will be working with the Korean Entertainment Management Association to create a database that houses basic information of entertainment agencies like the number of staff and public figures they manage. The database will be made into a safe and reliable tool for parents and trainees to use to find or verify agencies.

In addition, entertainment agencies that don’t pass the standards set will be banned from running as a business. In order to register, agencies must submit proof verifying that they have the assets fit to run a business along with an office building registered under their name.

The ministry concluded, “Recently, several entertainment agencies have been causing a stir in society for the unlawful acts they’ve committed against trainee hopefuls. We plan to stop unfit agencies from entering the market and focus on building a clear and responsible market.”

Soshi members admit they still gets nervous when performing on stage

Despite having been in the industry for five long years, the members of Girls’ Generation admitted that they still get stage fright.

While recently filming for an episode of KBS 2TV‘s ‘Happy Together 3‘, the Girls’ Generation members confessed that they sang the lyrics all wrong on all three major music programs back when they were promoting “Hoot“.

Jessica revealed that though the girls have stepped onto many stages during their career, but she still gets stage fright. Jessica continued to explain that she gets more nervous for small stages, as opposed to the large-scale performances.

Tiffany, Taeyeon, and Seohyun who recently formed subgroup ‘TaeTiSeo‘ confessed that they too were nervous for their first stage as a separate unit. They conducted an interview as soon as they stepped down from the stage, and it was revealed that Taeyeon’s hands wouldn’t stop shaking. Taeyeon remarked though it’s been 5 years since their debut, they still get very anxious.

EXO-K reveal their tactics for surviving the SM training system

JYP Entertainment reveals second teaser for “JJ Project”

After the first teaser and confirmation that JYP Entertainment‘s upcoming group “JJ Project” will be composed of members JB (Lim Jae Beom) and Jr. (Park Jin Young), a second teaser has now been revealed.

The teaser is titled “JYP 007” and features J.Y. Park as he presses play on his top secret project. The teaser ends with the date May 20th.

Go Young Wook admits to having sexual relations with victim

Go Young Wook, who is currently being investigated by the police, has admitted to having sexual relations with the victim.

A representative from Seoul Yongsan Police Station informed Newsen on May 9th, “Victim ‘A’ has no intention of settling and wants to see him receive punishment.”

The rep continued, “As ‘A’ is a minor, if the sexual assault accusations are proven to be true, whether a settlement is reached or not, [Go Young Wook] will receive punishment. This is not a crime in which a formal complaint from the victim is required. The victim has stated that she revealed her age to Go Young Wook. Go Young Wook has also admitted to having sexual relations with the victim, so if the sexual assault accusations turn out to be true, he will not be able to avoid the due punishment.”

Go Young Wook is under suspicion of sexually assaulting ‘A’ twice, once in March and once again in April. “Go Young Wook told the victim that he would make her into a celebrity,” a representative from the police revealed. “The victim later expressed her frustrations, saying that she felt used.”

Meanwhile, the Yongsan Police Station issued an arrest warrant for Go Young Yook for the violation of child and youth protection laws.

Actor Park Sang-min found guilty of assault, fined 200,000 won

Actor Park Sang-min has been fined 200,000 won ($176) for physically assaulting his then-wife.

The Seoul Eastern District Court found the actor guilty on assault charges at the appeals trial and issued the fine yesterday.

"Despite the fact that Park had been fined for the same crime two times prior, he went ahead and assaulted his wife both physically and verbally," the court said.

The crime took place back in 2010 when the couple was married and resided in Gang-dong, southeastern Seoul. During an argument, Park swore at and pushed his wife toward a shoe rack, resulting in her hitting her head against the piece of furniture.

The couple dated for one year before getting married in 2007. In March 2010, they filed for divorce and it was granted last year. Although Park's wife did previously bring assault charges against her husband, the court found Park innocent as the incident was described by the court as not being "an unusual case."

Following Lady Gaga’s allegedly evil concert last month that saw some South Korean groups praying for its cancellation, the public debate on her time in Korea continues. A televised debating show that had been covering the fact that many of Gaga’s concerts were ‘R’ rated invited a range of speakers to engage in a heated discussion, including the Reverend Jeong-Hoon Yoon who, already known for a high profile battle on Twitter with a liberal commentator Professor Jin (pictured right), came under fire from many Koreans for making some particularly strong remarks against homosexuality in Korea.

‘Sexual Harassment Grandpa’ Asks Girl for Gangbang On Subway

Just as we thought we’d seen the back of the recent spate of Ladygate scandals, news was breaking earlier this week of ‘Sexual Harassment Grandpa’ who, despite not being a lady, nevertheless managed to earn his title on some form of public transport. According to the young university student who was the target of his very offensive charm offensive, Sexual Harassment Grandpa allegedly came up to her and said:

"You look ripe for gangbang. Good for gangbanging. Do you know what a gangbang is? That’s what you are, a gangbang."

A widespread atmosphere of relaxed attitude towards sexual violence and the culture of acquiescence and silence has been reported by koreaBANG before. But the growing public distrust of allegedly incompetent police is now encouraging many victims of crime to take the law into their own hands.

The original victim of the alleged abuse put the pictures up on her blog but mainstream news media is relaying them with Sexual Harassment Grandpa’s face censored.

China Reaches New "Low Level" with Hyuna Wannabe

Chinese singer Low Level has copied Bubble Pop by 4Minute's star solo artist, Hyuna. In the video, Low Level and backup dancers wear similar outfits in very similar settings as the original, while also including "cooing" and lip footage like Bubble Pop. Low Level raps and dances in a similar fashion, though the song is nothing like Bubble Pop. Bikinis, scuba diving, and boats were added in for good measure.

Apparently counterfeit clothing isn't the only thing China allows to copy. How many times does she need to say "no no no?"
