Former idol Kan Mi Yeon, who recently showed K-pop fans her sexy charisma was still alive with her single Crazy, is reported to have cried after being rejected by a suitor during a recording for QTV’s Cheers for Women. One of the segments for the show involved members of the all-female cast, which includes Kim Shin Young and Jung Siah, going on blind dates with average men.

The cast mates are reported to initially believe that the blind date was a success as Kan Mi Yeon and her date seemed to show interest in each other as well as getting along fairly comfortably. The two-some decided to make cakes at a bakery, and Kan Mi Yeon’s date is said to even tie her hair for her.

However, the cast and crew were shocked when he declined to ask for a second date. Kan Mi Yeon is said to have showed tears immediately after the rejection. I’m sure readers will agree that she was probably too good for him anyway.

Taeyang's "Fuck You" causes controversy

Big Bang’s, Taeyang’s was noticed wearing an outfit with profanity on stage.

Taeyang performed “I’ll Be There” from his first full studio album SOLAR on Mnet Countdown September 2nd and won the #1 award. However, the outfit he wore, a black sleeveless shirt with the English profanity “Fuck You” on the back has caused an issue.

In response Mnet’s rep said, “The program does not censor the outfits worn by performers. According to the stage concept some ask us to prepare outfits in that situation but outfit censorship is not done in any broadcast. Because Mnet Countdown is broadcast live, I wasn’t aware of these issues.”

But after watching this video netizens said, “The cordi seems like an anti“, “Then what’s the matter with G-Dragon?“, etc.

A recent video of Kara on Youtube, is causing quite a commotion. The video reveals the graduation photos of a young Gyuri, Nicole, Hara, Jiyoung, and Seungyeon, and Japanese netizens like what they see so far.

On top of stirring up interest in the girls, the photos also seem to be breaking some stereotypes of Korean entertainers as well. Japansese Youtubers commented, “I thought Korea was a nation of people who had undergone plastic surgery, but after seeing these pictures of Kara, this image has changed for me,” and “They all look exactly the same as they did when they were younger,” as well as “They’re so pretty. I’ve heard that Hara has had plastic surgery, but I guess she was naturally cute.”

In other Kara related news, Kara’s famous “booty dance” is being popularized by a Japanese trainer as a fitness routine.

SE7EN gets "humiliated" on Happy Together but stays HOT while doing so

Singer Se7en was recently humiliated during the recording of KBS2TV’s ‘Happy Together Season 3′.

During the episode, the MCs of the show asked Se7en to show them the dance of his album’s title track, Better Together, and he gave them a performance in the small locker room.

Jin I-Han, who was also a guest for the episode, also revealed his hidden dance skills. After quietly putting on his blue running shoes and the hat that was placed on the middle of the floor, he suddenly pulled out his powerful dance moves and blew the studio away.

The MCs were stirred up after that, so they asked Se7en to show them a freestyle dance. He confidently stood up and gave them some break dancing moves, but the floor was too slippery and he tumbled to the ground.

Se7en tried to act cool and calm but his overflowing sweat made the situation even more embarrassing. MC Yoo Jae Suk saw this and asked Se7en to dance again, to which Se7en replied with a brilliant performance to cover up for his mistake earlier.

How did you like your two weeks of promotion time in Korea?
Sohee: It’s been such a while since I’ve been back in broadcast halls and everything was so unfamiliar so I just stayed in the car. However, once I finally got up on stage, I realized I missed our fans.
YeEun: I was actually a bit hurt because our fan cafe numbers decreased along with the number of posts made after we started promoting in America. Going back to Korea, though, I was able to feel that we were still loved and supported so I was very moved. I’m thankful to the fans that have been there for us throughout time.

SNSD’s Plane Hit By Lightning

SNSD predicts success regarding their Japanese promotions by revealing, “On our way to Japan, our plane was hit by lightning.”

In an interview inside their chartered plane to America, SNSD stated, “We experienced something scary last month on our way to Japan for our showcase. The center of the plane was hit by a strong lightning bolt. It was so vivid that we could see it from the cabin.”

Fortunately, there was no accident, as they went on to interpret the omen by stating, “That moment was scary but we thought of it as an omen of success. Even on the day of our music video filming in Japan, there was lightning in the sky, causing a halt in the filming. I think we’re in for something big.”

One of the popular theories of the Korean music industry, is that being met with a casual accident such as power outages during music video recordings, means that it’s a sign of upcoming success.

SNSD’s Sooyoung laughed while stating, “I knew that we’d do well in Japan because of it.”

This wasn’t their only omen though, as there was a random fire in the hallway from their waiting room to the showcase set on the 25th. Yuri and the members smiled brightly, once again stating, “We like to think of all of these cases as a sign of future success.”

Their “Oh!” music video also had a fire accident during the middle of filming, in which soon after, Oh! became a huge hit.

SNSD will be releasing their first Japanese single on the 8th.

Typhoon Kompasu kills 3 in South Korea

Three people died after Typhoon Kompasu hit central South Korea Thursday morning, the Yonhap News Agency reported.

Kompasu also halted much of the metropolitan area's subway service, toppled trees and caused widespread power outages, the agency said. Airlines canceled or diverted domestic and international flights.

According to Yonhap: A flying roof tile killed an 80-year-old man in Seosan, South Chungcheong province. A broken tree branch fatally struck a 37-year-old man in Bundang, on the southern outskirts of Seoul. And an electrical engineer was electrocuted while trying to restore electricity in Mokpo, 255 miles (410 kilometers) south of Seoul.

Kompasu also unleashed torrential rain and strong winds on North Korea Thursday, according to the state-run KCNA news agency. The typhoon was expected to further devastate crops in secretive North Korea, which has been gripped by food shortages.

As of late afternoon Thursday, Kompasu was carrying maximum winds of 55 miles per hour and had moved away from both Koreas.

The other day, I successfully had some interviews with Korean TV stations MBC and SBS. The content of the interviews are, "Why are Korean girl groups so popular in Japan?" This spring, 4minute debuted in Korea with a great standing; KARA debuted with "Mister", becoming the first foreign girl group to enter Oricon TOP 5 in the last 30 years; SNSD took the 4th spot on the DVD ranking - with all the first achievements that Korean girl groups already made, it's undeniable that the force from K-pop girl groups are very powerful. Moreover, the other day, their popularity was again shown by the amount of 22,000 audience members who attended the 3-session showcase of SNSD at Ariake Colosseum. Korean media also pays a lot of attention on this topic.

Kim Hyun Joong’s official website hacked

The official website of SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong has been hacked even before it officially opened.  His entertainment company says that the website, planned to launch mid-September, was in the middle of “testing, getting the authorization for the url, and updating in general.  Somehow overseas fans got a hold of this information, and decided to spread the website contents.” All the videos and extra tidbits of Kim Hyun Joong have been posted on sites such as Youtube.

Much of his popularity with overseas fans is attributed to his major role in Boys Over Flowers, in which he played one of the infamous F4 members.  His generous management company added that there would be no investigation of the hacking as it was simply a problem on their end.  They stated, “It simply means that overseas fans are that interested.”

ZE:A off to Singapore and Malaysia!

Idol group ZE:A will be leaving for Malaysia and Singapore this month after having already achieved astounding results in their overseas promotions.

ZE:A was introduced to Japan for the first time through a K-pop introduction stage titled Seoul Train, and held three individual performances in Osaka and Yokohama, gathering over 10,000 fans.

Their first Japanese album is set to release on the coming 22nd, and the 15,000 pre-orders confirm their popularity. Furthermore, the group has even participated in leading roles for a Japanese film set to release next year, along with an OST production.

With their 2nd to visit to Thailand, they became the 2nd Korean group to become CF models, and they attracted much attention with the follow-up of even more love calls and overseas performance requests.

They were also the only international guest present at Taiwan’s International Dance Battle Festival, receiving the warm welcome of 10,000 fans. ZE:A received the support of Taiwan’s tourism ministry and promoted as Taiwan’s tourism models alongside Fahrenheit.

Their agency, Star Empire Entertainment, stated, “It hasn’t even been a year since their debut. We’re very surprised and thankful that they’re receiving this much love and interest with their overseas activities. Riding on the strength of their international promotion tour, ZE:A will be holding an Asia fan meeting tour including seven countries. We’ll continue to promote actively so please continue to show us your anticipation and interest.”

T-ara Eunjung sees her father for the first time in five years

On the SBS "Haha Mong Show", girl group T-ara appeared in the "Take Care of my Mother" episode.

The MC stated, "Because Eunjung has such a busy schedule and so many activities, and her father lives in a country side province, Eunjung had not seen her father in 5 years." On this episode of the show, Eunjung's father was a surprise guest.

Eunjung's father, who currently operates a Raw Fish Restaurant in a small province undertook a surprise visit for Eunjung. Eunjung's father listened in to Eunjung talk about her father, while her father was secretly hidden in the corner of the room.

After seeing her father, Eunjung was able to say, "my father has seemed to find quite a lot of new wrinkles in the past five years," she said.

Eunjung said this was an amazing day for her, since her mother visited as well.

After graduating high school, Eunjung wasn't able to meet with her father because of the busy activities and training she went through. The surprise reunion with her father and family members resulting in T-ara to shed many tears.

Korean 'Invasion' of Japan Is a Bridge to Understanding

The Brits invaded the U.S. twice as far as pop music goes. The first invasion was in the 1960s spearheaded by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and the second was in the 1980s led by New Wave groups like Duran Duran and Culture Club. They didn't just enter the U.S. market: they changed the direction of the entire industry.

Now, Korean girl bands like Girls' Generation and Kara are taking Japan by storm, prompting the Japanese to refer to the "Korean Invasion." The phrase contains both apprehension and excitement. On Aug. 25, the top story on the main evening news on NHK was a five-minute report on Korean girl bands. If the wild popularity of the Korean soap "Winter Sonata" can be seen as the first Korean Invasion, the second involves the explosive success of these manufactured bands that began in August.

Until now, only K-pop star BoA and the group Dongbangshingi (TVXQ) reached the top of the Japanese charts. The Korean Wave was typified by the popularity of the actor Bae Yong-joon, who starred in "Winter Sonata," but young Japanese looked down on the phenomenon as a matter for middle-aged housewives. The emergence of Girls' Generation and Kara has changed all that. As one Japanese netizen wrote, "The performance by Girls' Generation was something I could enjoy with my dad." T-ara's new dorm is full of clothing!

T-ara's new dorm room was unveiled.

On the September 5th episode of SBS "Haha Mong Show", girl group T-ara appeared in the "Take Care of my Mother" episode where the MCs woke T-ara up in the morning.

The members were all sleeping in a serene sleeping style, and Eunjung was crushed by teddy bears while she was all dressed up in her pajamas. It was visible that they were all tired.

When the MCs visited, they were surprised to see that T-ara's living room was full of clothing and that Soyeon and Hyomin were dressed in full clothing while sleeping.

Also in the episode will be T-ara giving a impromptu fashion show and becoming fashion stylists each with a different concept.
