On the SBS "Haha Mong Show", girl group T-ara appeared in the "Take Care of my Mother" episode.

The MC stated, "Because Eunjung has such a busy schedule and so many activities, and her father lives in a country side province, Eunjung had not seen her father in 5 years." On this episode of the show, Eunjung's father was a surprise guest.

Eunjung's father, who currently operates a Raw Fish Restaurant in a small province undertook a surprise visit for Eunjung. Eunjung's father listened in to Eunjung talk about her father, while her father was secretly hidden in the corner of the room.

After seeing her father, Eunjung was able to say, "my father has seemed to find quite a lot of new wrinkles in the past five years," she said.

Eunjung said this was an amazing day for her, since her mother visited as well.

After graduating high school, Eunjung wasn't able to meet with her father because of the busy activities and training she went through. The surprise reunion with her father and family members resulting in T-ara to shed many tears.

The surprise event with T-ara and her father will be aired on September 5th on SBS "Haha Mong Show."

I'm sorry but... who could ever think that "being busy with training and activities" is ever an acceptable reason to not see your father for FIVE years?
Do they not get a week here and there to see their families, even if they aren't nearby?
The complacent oh well attitude I see regarding this pisses me off.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!! No matter how busy you are "training", you make time for your family. Be it a weekend or two. Period.

ia with your whole statement
If they didn't see each other in 5 years I don't think her schedule was the reason why.

This really angers me. How can agencies not clear up their schedule so they can visit their fucking families?! ugh.

Five years? Holy shit. SK is not that big a country. I mean I know she's busy and all, but my parents and I literally live on opposite ends of Canada, I'm broke and I still manage to see them once a year.

How is she not able to fly there for like, a weekend?

I don't understand idols who talk about how they haven't seen their family in years. Korea is seriously not that big. Provided that you actually want to see your family, I don't believe that there was no possible way to make it work, even if it is that you only could get together for a meal or an afternoon or something.

tbh whenever idols say things like this ("i haven't seen x family member in y amount of time") it's bull. taec's parents live on the opposite side of the globe, but JYPE (who are notoriously stingy) still let him fly out for a few days at least once a year. stuff like this is a publicity stunt to gain sympathy when bands aren't doing any promotions.

wow, that is a retarded comparison. t-ara isn't under jyp.

usually the idols that say that don't have parents living in korea. It's expensive to fly back and forth and they don't start making any money until they are well into their debut.

5 years, wow that is way too much. I mean sometimes my dad drives me up the wall and I sometimes wish he and my mom went somewhere on vacation for a year, but I would be terribly sad if I didn't see my dad for 5 years.

There is no excuse for not finding ANY time at all to not see your family for FIVE YEARS.

While schedules probably play a big part in it, 5 years without seeing her father probably means there's more to their situation than she wants to say. *hasn't seen her own dad in 4 years*

I'm always sad when idols talk about not seeing their families for years. I'm like.. really? You don't even skype or anything? ):

Right?! This is my biggest issue. Korea's supposed to be one of the most wired countries on the planet. Don't tell me you can't find 30 minutes to set up a skype date.

Five fucking years? They couldn't give her one day in five years to see her father? The fuck?

If I watch this I will bawl :(

you can get to anywhere in Korea in less than one day, I don't understand how she could not see her father in 5 years. :/ could they not meet somewhere? could he not come to a performance? I'm sure they get free time occasionally, even 30 min could work.

this makes no sense to me :/

This is too much. Like really, you can't take a plane/bus ride one weekend? Like at least go watch her in concert and hang with her backstage. Something...

I really feel for her and everything, but Korea being as small as it is and idols schedules being as irregular as they are, there's clearly more to it than a packed timetable. Or is she saying she hasn't had even a half day off for the past five years?

things like this always remind me of taemin when he was crying on the radio thinking about his family

whether she was lying or not, whether there's more to the story or not, it is true idols basically have no time on their hands. and no matter how long a period it is, i feel so sorry for these people not being able to have a normal life - especially for some of the trainees that've been there since their really early teens. not seeing your parents for that long ... i mean at least in boarding schools or if you're studying overseas you're supposed to have a carer. i doubt in such large entertainment companies you're really going to get much sympathy, especially if you're a guy. i'm not saying everybody is purposely cruel - i'm sure there are some nice managers or people you can talk to when it gets hard - but it's not the same and korea is more of a 'deal with it' country than a 'oh you're having a hard time i'll let you talk to a psychologist.'

This is very true - I remember Tiffany being upset when she left for America when she was very young, and she and her father didn't even see each other very often (not too sure if they ever actually did), while her mother died sometime later. Jessica also trained for a total of 7 and a half years before debuting, I can't even imagine the type of lifestyle all these trainees must've lived.

What's worse is that I don't even want to think about the trainees who are only sticking around for a chance to make it big, but will probably never debut, because they aren't given preference when it comes to building a group. Even if they debut, if they flop, they flop according to what their company thinks (look at Zhang Li Yin and CSJH.)

There is nothing worth giving up your time with your parents for 5 years! Too many times we assume they'll be around forever but that's not the case so we have to treasure our time together as much as we can. And I speak as someone who only sees her parents every few months at the most usually.

There's more to it than that, I'm sure. Korea is smaller than California, so she can't tell me she couldn't find a bus/plane/car to visit her father.
