After the recent reveal into SHINee’s dormitory, netizens did a comparison on the difference between their dormitory and 2PM’s.

And also a netizen did a little gag comparison between the charms of both group, which some fans might find offensive.

Now it is time for episode 2 of HIP KOREA -- SEOUL SAVVY, featuring the actor Lee Byung-hun. In many ways, HIP KOREA 2 is the prequel to the Rain episode, as this episode goes back and examines the changes Korea went through during the 1990s and into the 21st century. Rain is about where Korea is now, but Lee Byung-hun looks at how Korea got here.

It turns out that Lee Byung-hun is a pretty good conduit for that story -- he first made it big in 1992/3, around the time Korea got its first civilian president. He made JSA in 2000, at the same time as the North-South Summit between the Koreas. He starred in a couple of huge TV dramas that helped spark the boom of Korean TV dramas around Asia (aka Hallyu). And he starred in a couple of really big movies (A BITTERSWEET LIFE and THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD) that showcased how far Korean movies and society have come along.

HIP KOREA -- SEOUL SAVVY makes its debut on NHK in Japan on June 13 at 12:55am (technically June 14), in a two-hour, back-to-back showing with HIP KOREA -- SEOUL VIBES (the Rain episode ). It then encores on NHK BS (satellite) on June 19 at 8pm and June 20 at 4:30pm.

It airs in Discovery at the following times in the following locations:
Korea - Thursday, June 18 at 8pm. Encores on June 20 at 2pm, June 21 at 1am in the morning and June 23 at 12am midnight.
Singapore/HK/Malaysia - Thursday, June 18 at 7pm. Encores on June 20 at 1pm and 12am midnight and June 23 at 11pm.
Taiwan - Sunday, August 16 at 10pm. (Rain's episode will be bundled and aired at 11pm.) Encores on August 23 at 3am and 3pm.

A photo of upcoming group ‘HyunA’s group’ 4Minute has been revealed today after their silhouette teaser yesterday.

With an average age of 18, members are HyunA, Ji Hyun, Ga Yoon (20), Ji Yoon (20), and youngest So Hyun (16). After looking at the photo, many netizens commented, “They look no different from 2NE1 and After School“.

With that, Cube Entertainment came out to say, “This photo is not for their main cut. Like their ‘Hot Issue’ teaser video, the girls follow Candy Funky concept, they can take the cute, or pure, or strong image, their style changing from time to time.”

“Their candy funky is much different After School who does vivid colours and 2NE1 with the hip hop style. Candy funky is currently very famous in Europe with the spirit of ‘Let’s go back to the 1980s’.”

The full MV for ‘Hot Issue’ directed by Hong Jong Ho who also did Seo Taiji and the Boys‘ MV will be released on 15th June.

Kim Young-tak, left, of the South Korean Unification Ministry, in Paju, Gyeonggi, yesterday before leading the South Korean delegation for talks with the North Korean delegation at the Kaesong Industrial Complex.

Pyongyang made pricey demands yesterday on the Kaesong Industrial Complex while ignoring Seoul’s request for the release of a detained South Korean worker.

The North’s position was made clear at the year’s second inter-Korean talks concerning Kaesong. More talks are scheduled for June 19.

North Korea insisted that the South pay $500 million to use the 330 hectares (815.4 acres) of land at the complex, according to Seoul’s Unification Ministry. South Korea paid $16 million for that very land in 2004 under an inter-Korean agreement.

Also, the North requested that the South raise the monthly wage for North Korean workers to around $300, up from the current $55. After that, the North is asking for wage increases of 10 to 20 percent a year. Under current agreements, wages cannot be raised by more than 5 percent annually.

Actor Oh Arrested for Smoking Marijuana

Popular actor Oh Gwang-rok, most famous for his role in "Taewangsasingi" (The Four Guardian Gods of the King)" as a wise man, was arrested Thursday for smoking marijuana, police said Friday.

According to Namdaemun Police Station, Oh is suspected of having smoked marijuana on several occasions, including once in February at his house in Seoul. He allegedly smoked with the head of an unidentified information-technology company, known as Park, investigators said.

Police said Park bought the drug from a local dealer and shared it with eight others, including animation film director Kim Mun-saeng.

Oh has appeared in numerous films including "Seven Days" and "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance."

So, what is Omona's opinion of this show so far?
Personally, the girls seems kinda of... idk, boring. Except the little one, she seems really blunt and funny.
Also,am I the only one getting Heechul vibes from the last guy? I mean, he looks like a girl, seems kinda of bitchy and diva-like... he even danced to Wonder Girls! Totes a younger version of Heechul right there.

Koreans spend more time talking on cell phones than anyone else in developed countries.

According to the KT Management Research Laboratory, an average Korean spent 320 minutes per month talking on a mobile phone in the fourth quarter of 2008 -- the longest calling volume among countries where consumers have to pay for outgoing calls.

The laboratory, affiliated with the nation's top telecommunications company KT, said that Korea's cheap mobile call rates and their tendency to spend time outdoors make the nation post one of the highest calling volume per person in the world.

Take a look at the two celebrities that will be receiving the first ‘Rising Star Asia Award‘ at the upcoming ‘New York Asian Film Festival’s ‘Korean Film Night’ on June 24th.

Actor So Ji-sub has been nominated for the ‘Rising Star Asia Award’ for his acting in the recent film, ‘A Movie is a Movie’. As for actress Gong Hyo-jin, a number of films she starred in have been nominated but she is receiving the award for her acting in the film, ‘Miss Carrot’. Both So Ji-sub and Gong Hyo-jin did a great job in their recent works and it’s even better that they are getting recognition for it overseas as well. Who knows, maybe this will be there chance to get a bigger bite out of the “hallyu” wave that’s been spreading.

The 8th annual NYAFF will begin on June 19th and last until July 5th at the New York Manhattan IFC Center and Japan Society. Films from a number of Asian countries including China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. will be shown at the NYAFF. Congratulations to So Ji-sup and Gong Hyo-jin for nabbing the first ‘Rising Star Asia Award’!

The 9 members of SNSD might have had their horror movie opportunity terminated by MBC recently. But it's no loss for us fans because the latest chapter of the Whispering Corridors series, A Blood Pledge will be hitting movie theatres in Korea soon. What's unfortunate though is that Korean youths might not be able to watch it, after the movie was recently slapped with a 18+ rating by the Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB), becoming the first in the series to receive such a rating.

Whispering Corridors 5: A Blood Pledge is about about a group of high school chapel friends, who swear their friendship with blood and promise that they will even die together. The remaining friends are chased by death as their promise weights heavily over them after one of the students in the group, Eon Ju commits suicide by jumping to her death. The movie is going to hit movie theatres on 18th June, next week.

According to KMRB, they ruled that the scene where the group of students meet to promise to die together, might lead to a spate of copycat suicides or otherwise known as the Werther effect in Korea. The ruling comes after South Korea has been battling a rise in people committing suicides in recent years and given an even higher profile, following suicides by actress Choi Jin Shil last year and ex-president, Roh Moo Hyun.

The previous 4 chapters in the Whispering Corridors series have never been slapped with a 18+ rating before by the KMRB. The first chapter of Whispering Corridors got a 15+ rating while the 2nd and 3rd, Memento Mori and Wishing Stairs had a 12+ rating. The 4th chapter, Ghost Voice had a 15+ rating, just like the first.

With the Whispering Corridors series targeted at primarily the youth market, the enforcement of the 18+ rating would be a big blow to the box office takings. The production house, Cine 2000 has voiced it's dismay at the rating and will be filing an appeal against the decision although time is fast running out for them.

On the June 11 episode of MBC's TaeHee, HyeKyo, JiHyun sitcom, Taegoon made his very important, successful, talented, exceptional, important, and real acting debut.

Although it was his first time acting, he was able to portray a shockingly deep and complex character flawlessly while answering a math problem. Over one whole netizen commented that his performance in the drama was "simply astounding and his acting abilities blew me away."
