Like most brides in Korea, Shinae has also gotten the magazine-style photoshoot that is done before the big wedding day. This is the average bride’s chance to shine and play dress-up. Basically what goes down is you dress up in multiple wedding dresses and fulfil your Cinderella fantasies with professional pictures.

Director Park Chan-wook poses with the Jury Prize he received Sunday at the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival for his work "Thirst", during a press conference in Seoul, Sunday.

Director Park Chan-wook, who won the Jury Prize at the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival for "Thirst" Sunday, said he had secretly anticipated a win, he told reporters in Seoul Thursday.

"The audience's response was so heated. I wouldn't be able to win if the jury didn't like it, but it was the first time I ever received such a heartfelt ovation, so I began to hope for the chance," he said. This is his second Jury Prize ― which he shared with Andrea Arnold's "Fish Tank” ― from the prestigious French event after "Oldboy" in 2004.

"Thirst" is a bloody thriller about a priest who turns into a vampire and agonizes over his newfound desire for blood and sex. The film received critical acclaim, but the response among regular moviegoers is often split.

Participants listen during a forum on hallyu, or Korean wave, which was organized by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange in collaboration with the Federation of Korean Industries at the Koreana Hotel in Seoul, Tuesday. The forum was attended by entertainment industry professionals, business leaders, government officials and college students.

Younghoon David Kim, chairman of energy, environment and culture-based business Daesung Group, had a nice surprise in China two years ago when he was on a business trip.

An executive from China Film Group Corporation, the largest and most influential state-run film enterprise in China, expressed deep enthusiasm about forging a partnership with Kim's business which invested part of its capital in producing cultural products.

"I was told that Korean soap operas were very popular there. Due to the guidelines set by the government, Chinese people were allowed to watch made-in-Korea dramas only after 10 p.m. Despite the inconvenience, families gathered together in front of television late at night to watch Korean dramas," said the businessman.

Before the business trip, Kim confessed he thought the Chinese madness to hallyu was waning.

"To link the enthusiasm to business opportunities, I think we need to stop using the term hallyu that embraces some defensive meaning on made-in-Korea cultural products in China," he said.

[Kyuhyun's Cyworld Video Entry 2009.05.28 17:49]
In the '나의 동영상' folder..

2007

Taking advantage of this short rest period, I went on my computer to search after going home

The past (?) video I found..

From my memory, that was from August 2007?

From what I remember, it was not long after I got discharged from the hospital..

Under Preacher-nim's request, I was asked to go to the high-class 수련 (Suryeon) group where I made my testimony

and sang songs of praise such as '주님의 높고 위대하심을 (Higher Greatness of the Lord)'

As I wasn't fully recovered, I didn't sing well

But among all the songs that I have sung before,

This is the truth about the gospel which the Lord likes the most….^-^

The miracle didn't quite happen as SBS made the much dreaded announcement that Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee will indeed be leaving Family Outing. Replacing them will be Park Shi Yeon and Park Hae Jin, with discussions for their participation at the latter stages. SBS expressed, "Park Hae Jin and Park Shi Yeon are No.1 on our list, but it's not confirmed as yet." Just a matter of time, I guess. Park Hae Jin will be joining the filming of Family Outing in mid-June after concluding his Famous Princesses drama promotions in China. Park Shi Yeon will do likewise after finishing her drama filming of Story of a Man/The Slingshot in early June.

Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee 1 year contract with SBS for Family Outing will be ending soon and they chose not to renew it so that they could focus 100% on their acting careers. Their popularity had soared tremendously over the past year thanks to their weekly Family Outing appearances and have led to their schedules being jam-packed with lots of work. They had no choice but to give up on Family Outing in the end and will be filming their farewell episode on 1st - 2nd June next week (showing on 21st, 28th June). SBS said, "The other family members can't bear to see them go either but they will continue to support them in whatever they do in future."

12 Days Into Debut Single 'FIRE' Makes 200 Million Won
'In just 12 days 200 million* won!'

Girl group 2NE1 has renacted their sibling group Big Bang's "hundred million apotheosis (?) '

2NE1 had released their single (Fire) on the 6th and just after 12 days have made sales records of over a hundred million won. Their senior group, Big Bang, who are in the same label as them have recently made over 1 billion won in sales with 3 CM songs and so is being compared to that. In the singing industry it can be as far as to coin them as "the million won siblings". In one music portal site the party stated "Until the 17th 2NE1's sales were calculated to be over 2 million won. When they had finally appeared on their first ever music program on the 17th the sales had went up overwhelmingly."

The horror movie Chaw [차우] always struck me as a B-list premise — killer pig runs wild! chaos and carnage ensue! — but the thing that kept me from writing it off was Uhm Tae-woong (Devil) and Jung Yumi (Que Sera Sera). Both are great actors who pick their projects carefully, and neither seems the type to go for a throwaway slasher flick.

And maybe it’s better than it sounds, because it has managed to sell to 15 countries, in advance of its theatrical release later this summer.

Chaw attracted notice amongst the European film market back in February at the Berlin Film Festival based on promotional trailers and has now sold to Germany, Austria, India, and Singapore, among others.

Perhaps hoping to follow in the footsteps of The Host, Chaw features a killer monster on the loose — a wild boar with a taste for human flesh. Uhm Tae-woong and Jung Yumi are among the five hunters brought in to stop its rampage.

The film releases in July.

Omona is in need of some Uhm Taewoong, so here you go. There are more movie stills at the source if you're interested. I agree that the premise of the movie sounds lackluster but since UTW is in it, well, can't be that terrible. Too bad it didn't get picked up in the US.

With Cannes over and the thriller movie Mother releasing this week, there’s been a lot of stuff in the news involving the film’s three main players: Won Bin, Kim Hye-ja, and director Bong Jun-ho.

Aside from Won Bin’s status as one of the hotties of the first wave of Hallyu (initiated by his 2000 tearjerker drama series Autumn Fairy Tale with Song Hye-gyo, Song Seung-heon), this role has been highly anticipated because he’s had such a long break from acting. In stark contrast to most heartthrobs who try to capitalize on fame as much as possible (cramming schedules with movies, dramas, CFs, and magazine shoots), then hurry to burst back on the scene after army duty by trying to hit the ground running, Won Bin has had a relatively sparse career, stayed out of the limelight, and resurfaced only sporadically in recent years as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

INTERVIEW )

MEANWHILE

Thriller film Mother has claimed the top spot for Korean movie openings this year, drawing in more than 220,000 attendees in its first day (May 28).

This breaks the April 30 opening of Park Chan-wook’s vampire-horror film Thirst, which recently won a jury prize at Cannes, which drew in 178,000 people on opening day. It also beat out Hollywood blockbuster Terminator 4, which came in second in its second week.

Mother has generally received praise from audiences, particularly for director Bong Jun-ho, who’s made a name for himself with films like The Host and Memories of Murder. Kim Hye-ja plays the determined mother out to rescue Won Bin, the mentally slow son accused of murder.

Lee Myung Bak Group Accused of Producing and Showing "Anti-Communist" Films and TV Dramas
Pyongyang, May 19 (KCNA) -- "Anti-communist" movies and TV dramas are now being massively produced and shown in south Korea to defile the dignified system in the DPRK and incite antipathy and confrontation between the north and the south. And even foreign films seriously misrepresenting the reality of the DPRK are openly shown there.

A spokesman for the Literature and Art Sub-committee of the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in a statement issued Tuesday said:

This is an indication that the vicious and dastardly moves of the group of traitors to completely stamp out the idea of "By our nation itself" which has dynamically advanced the June 15 era in the sphere of literature and art of south Korea and benumb the south Koreans' thoughts have reached an extreme phase.

SM Entertainment said that they will not release group pictures of the girls so that the people will be surprised for the concept. They have revealed S4U’s concept, but they thought so that it will be a disaster. Mr. Park, the manager said ” We will erase or delete any information about the S4U girls. Currently, the girls are recording their debut album that will be released on late July or early August. “

On the interview, the group leader, Lee Nara, also known as Lara said “We went on a very different training system compared to SNSD and The Grace’s since our trainors are from U.S. We worked hard as trainees for more than 3 years as a group and we will work even harder as a singer. We will also work in variuos fields in entertainment industry as this is the unique capability of SM talents, being all-rounders. Please support our group.”

Sun Anna, one of the 2 follow-up members stated her happiness in joining the group. “I was so surprised when Manager Park summoned me and Seng Yeon. We were suprised that we will be debuting. Though we were not able to train with Lara, DaEun and DoYeon for long, we have been together for years already. Please support our group.”

Yoo Seung Yeon, the other new member said that she will be the female version of Minho or Key. She is not yet sure of her pair but she said it is between Key and Minho. She also mentioned about The Grace’s Lina for being mentor while she was still a trainee. She hopes to see her fans soon.

After successfully holding a fan meeting in Thailand this March, rookie singer Tae Goon plans to take on Japan.

Immediately after his debut in January this year, Tae Goon's management began receiving "love calls" from major Japanese labels. After negotiations have finished, Tae Goon looks forward to holding a fan meeting and concert in Japan this July.

In a telephone interview with his company on the 25th, they revealed that "Tae Goon has been receiving offers from many countries across Asia, and has been signed with Pony Canyon Japan, who also manages SS501's activities in Japan. This July in Tokyo he will hold a meeting with his Japanese fans along with a mini concert."

Tae Goon rose to popularity with his debut song "Call Me" in Thailand earlier this year. Just 4 months later he will begin with several activities in Japan, something that rookies usually do not see.

His management also has him taking language classes to learn English, Japanese, and Chinese.

His official Japanese fanclub (www.taegoon.jp) is currently taking registrations.

They used to be good…kinda.

Looking at two flourishing girl groups, Kara is about to have their first ever mini-concert on their reality program “Kara’s MetaFriends,” and the Wondergirls are about to have their first official fan meeting and concert in America. Both only debuted in early 2007 and have gained a lot of popularity with catchy pop songs: Kara had “Pretty Girl” and “Honey,” while the Wondergirls had their retro trilogy. Yet, even with all their success, they get a lot of flack for being girly groups with questionably talented members. Surprisingly, they weren’t always that way.

Under DSP Entertainment, Kara used to be just a four member group consisting of Park Gyu-ri, Han Seung-yeon, Nicole Jung, and Kim Sung-hee. Debuting with an image of independent, fierce young women, they were touted as being “Fin.K.L 2” for coming from the same company and their shining potential. Kim Sung-hee really carried the group with her strong vocals, but her participation in Kara was contingent upon her grades. Unfortunately in early 2008, she failed her college entrance exams, so her dad forced her to quit Kara. She was replaced by Kang Ji-young and Gu Ha-ra, and they downgraded their image from being strong females to being bubbly and innocent.

Under JYP Entertainment, Wondergirls consisted of Sun-ye, Ye-eun, Sun-mi, So-hee, and rapper Hyun-ah. They debuted with the song “Irony” from their mini-album “The Wonder Begins” as foxy school girls who won’t take crap from guys, and it did modestly well. Hyun-ah was plagued with chronic gastroenteritis, so her parents pulled her out of the group in the summer of 2007 and the Wondergirls continued performing “Irony” without her. Just before they were about to perform the comeback stage with “Tell Me,” Good Entertainment sent JYPE their trainee Yoo-bin as Hyun-ah’s replacement.

Looking at past performances of the old Kara and Wondergirls roster, all the girls showed more vocal prowess than they do now, especially Wondergirl’s So-hee and Sun-mi. The songs that both groups do now focus on image and catchiness, rather than promoting the actual capabilities of their members.

Television networks are upping their offensive against peer-to-peer pirates, threatening legal action should file-sharing sites fail to remove illegal videos from their networks.

The Internet units of the country's three national television channels ― KBS, MBC and SBS ― jointly issued a warning to 79 peer-to-peer and "Web hard" online storage services they accuse of being the most severe copyright violators.

The letter, dispatched through Seoul-based law firm, Yoon Yang Kim Shin & Yu, which represents the television stations, predicts a "large scale" of lawsuits against Internet companies that fail to introduce effective measures to prevent users from sharing illegal copies of television shows.

The 79 Internet companies named by the television networks include SK Communications, the operator of Nate (www.nate.com), the country's third-most popular search site, and Cyworld (www.cyworld.com), an immensely popular social networking service.

Nate and Cyworld are popular destinations for online videos, both for copyrighted and user-generated content, and the massive traffic generated by the Web sites has television stations taking a closer watch on copyright infringement.
