‘HyunA group’ to be unveiled on 14th – dance song for debut

The veil to WonderGirls ex-member HyunA’s group will be unveiled on the morning of 14th May.

More known as ‘HyunA group’, the group will be debut under Play Cube Entertainment. The company said, “The team name and also other team members will be officially revealed on 14th May.”

“We will also reveal how many members there will be in the group that day. We hope that everyone will look forward to them as they have taken a long time to prepare for their debut. And their debut song will be a dance song.”

HyunA left the group WonderGirls in 2007 February with reasons that her health was not in good condition. She is known for her rap and dance skills. But recently she came out again to be featured as the rap for new singer AJ.

WonderGirls SunYe, “I bought a house as a present for my grandmother”

It has been revealed that group WonderGirls leader SunYe has bought an apartment for her grandmother.

End of last year, she bought an apartment for her grandmother and father in Seoul SangBongDong. SunYe was brought up by her grandmother after her mother passed away and her father’s health condition was not very good.

SunYe’s representative said, “All these while, SunYe has been saving up to buy a house for her grandmother and father.”

SunYe has always been described as a filial daughter and granddaughter. From several previous interviews, she said, “I want to suceed so that I can repay my grandmother as a filial granddaughter.” And also previously, she passed her driving test and said, “Now without the help of my manager, I can go and see my grandmother and father. I’m so excited about it.”

WonderGirls are currently preparing for their American debut in America.

Lee Hyori’s new album most probably postponed to next year

News came that Kpop’s sexy queen Lee Hyori’s new album may have to be postponed till next year.

Hyori’s company initally expressed that Lee Hyori’s full length 4th album will be released this September. But recently, it has been known that Lee Hyori is looking into new projects and she has not started working on her new album yet.

Her company also revealed in an interview recently, “There is high possibility that her new album will be postponed to next year. Because she is working on new projects.”

“Because Lee Hyori will want her album to be of good standards and she will give in her all in preparing the new album, it has nothing to do with the album release time period.”

Lee Hyori previously released her 3rd album last summer with hits like ‘U-Go-Girl’ and ‘Hey Mr. Big’. And much interests have been raised with news on her new album release.

Fans complain about dubbing for Korean version of Meteor Garden

The Korean version of Meteor Garden broadcasted its first episode on Sunday with an average rating of 1.33%, which is only one fifth of My Queen's. Ethan Ruan defeats Korean F4, making Korea's Meteor Garden lose in the battle between Taiwan and Korea. Fans are trying hard to help promote Boys Over Flowers on the web, while criticizing CTV for cutting too many scenes, horrible Mandarin dubbing, and switching insert songs, making Boys Over Flowers lose its original flavor.

It's not the first time the dubbing has been criticized when Korean dramas are broadcast in Taiwan. Although the dubbing is to service the majority of viewers, due to cultural differences, the Mandarin dubbing often hinders viewers from getting into the drama. Viewer, Jen says, "Lee Min Ho's sexy and raspy voice is gone...Jan Di's voice sounds fake, and isn't the voice dub for Kim Hyun Joong too girly?"

In addition, the insert songs are different from the original broadcasted version in Korea, which has lead to big disapproval from the audience shouting out, "No feel". A netizen wrote, "I'm very disappointed after watching the first episode. I think this is too much. I was already very upset with the fact that it's dub, but I never thought that they would also change the insert songs as well." The viewers are also questioning as to why the scenes where Goo Joon Pyo was picking out shoes and when the three students were sent to pull a prank on Geum Jan Di after being beaten with golf sticks were cut.

In regards to the netizens' protest, CTV expresses that what they broadcasted was what was given to them by GTV. They did not make any edits or switch insert songs.

GTV explains that the overseas version of Korean dramas are often not the same as the original, and that they have really not made any edits to the episodes.

Kim Sun Ah Gets Pelted with Eggs

While filming for SBS City Hall recently, actress Kim Sun Ah had to endure being pelted repeatedly by eggs, resulting in her face, head, neck areas getting swollen. Kim Sun Ah had won some pageant competition but did not get the prize money that was promised. She goes on a 1-woman demonstration, protesting against it. But her actions sees her getting pelted with more than 200 eggs instead, resulting in her dress and tiara drenched with eggs and egg shells.

Onlookers who were present when the filming took place over the weekend expressed, "This is a really shocking scene", "it felt really real. I was kept on the edge just watching her getting pelted repeatedly", "I never knew acting would be so difficult. It pains my heart seeing this", with most expressing sympathy for Kim Sun Ah's plight.

Kim Sun Ah expressed in an interview about this scene, "I have never been hit with so many eggs in my entire life. I don't usually cry, but on this day where I got pelted repeatedly with eggs, I just started tearing. My face, neck, from top to bottom of my body were all drenched and swollen. It's really scary just thinking about it now.”

Drama ver. of the "It's You" MV to be released on the 15th

The new MV that will be released was filmed in a studio located in Ilsan, Kyunggido and Bucheon at the end of April, directed by Su-Hyun Cho.
It is an omnibus, with different episodes about love.

The new song 'It's you' is mixture of acoustic R&B sound and retro euro techno sound dance song and SJ's charms are shown with their powerful performance and the variety of different members' appeals and will capture the attention of music listener's ears and eyes.

Also, 'It's you' MV was made into 2 versions, the currently released dance version and the drama version, and the drama version that will be released on the 15th was filmed by a steady-cam camera and used the long-take technique to express the details of each members.

There was a happening, when a spotlight was busted in the set during the filming of 'It's you', the filming staff and SJ members took this well as a sign of continuation of success after "Sorry, Sorry" to "It's you', and joyfully continued with the filming.

Meanwhile, the "Sorry, Sorry" C version which has 4 new songs, including the new promotion song 'It's you' will be released on the 14th. The first stage will be shown on SBS Inkigayo on the 17th.

The Legend Drama to Get Korean/Japanese Animated Remake

The Yonhap News Agency reports that a joint Korean-Japanese animated remake of The Legend (Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi/Tai Ō Shi Jin Ki) historical fantasy television series has been revealed on Tuesday. The original drama, whose Korean name literally translates as "Story of the First King's Four Gods," centers on Damdeok and Hwanwoong, two figures loosely inspired by the Korean legends about the country's founding and early rulers. The story weaves in mythology with the four heavenly guardians who watch over Damdeok and his land. Bae Yong-Joon, the international star best known for Winter Sonata, played the dual lead roles. (Winter Sonata is also being remade as animation in South Korea and Japan.)

The Legend drama scored ratings in the range of 30% in South Korea in 2007, and its successful 2007-2008 Japanese television run spawned theatrical screenings and a 2009 stage musical. Joe Hisaishi, the composer of almost every film from Studio Ghibli, wrote the music for the original drama. Riyoko Ikeda, the author of the classic historical manga Rose of Versailles, has been drawing a manga adaptation in Kodansha's Tokyo Isshūkan and Kansai Isshūkan magazines since September. No official word has been given on whether Bae, Hisaishi, or Ikeda will be involved in the animated version.

The official signing ceremony for the animated project's joint financing and production agreement will take place on Thursday during the Busan Content Market 2009 event in the southern Korean city of Busan. The original drama's GNG Entertainment production company, South Korea's Mix Film, and Japan's Neo video-on-demand service provider are jointly financing and producing the project. The partners are planning to invest US$3 million (about 292 million yen), and are aiming to complete the 26-episode animated series at the beginning of next year. GNG Entertainment plans to unveil the animated version's pilot film and solicit overseas distribution partners at the Busan Content Market.

DBSK's Virginian Micky Yoochun opened his briefly delayed Timeout Gelato shop on a rainy May 11th. The shop was created for Micky's umma; Micky has said that she had always wanted to own a charming ice cream shop. I just love that the little delay moved the opening to May 11th in Korea, while it was Mother's Day (May 10th) in America. South Korea's Parents' Day was on May 8th though, so you were a little late, Mirotic Micky.

#9: Big Bang and Foreign Language – The Inside Story

“As Big Bang expands to outside of Korea, language has emerged as an important issue. You get to meet people who don’t speak Korean and should at least be able to communicate basic stuff. Although all the songs on our international album are in English but you need to say hello and make remarks between songs when you perform in front of an audience. We study and study but cannot avoid the inevitable worries. I used to like my Japanese lessons because they were fun and easy to follow but it’s gotten so much more difficult. The Chinese characters, for one thing.

Mm…Our activities overseas taught me what struggling with a language barrier was really like. Consequently, we found out about two helpful tips for language learning. One, study everyday regularly if only for 30 minutes. Two, grab every chance to use what you’ve learned in everyday conversations. They work pretty well. We talked about how we should stop speaking in Korean altogether and try communicating only in foreign languages we were studying. But most of the time, we just tried to catch one another speaking Korean instead of honing our own language skills.

And eventually, the whole thing turned into a bet and we just had to call it a quit – a sad incident indeed. Of course, we were all so impressively good at using basic expressions we knew by heart. Sawadikap, kapkunkap and, TOP-hyung said “yakisoba” a lot because that was his favorite dish. And “muzukashi” too. This is also a Japanese word. We didn’t have any trouble communicating when we used these easy words. Do you know the meaning of all the foreign words I said so far? Well, take a guess!”

Drill instructors drive young men through military-style obstacle courses, counselors lead group sessions, and there are even therapeutic workshops on pottery and drumming.

But these young people are not battling alcohol or drugs. Rather, they have severe cases of what many in this country believe is a new and potentially deadly addiction: cyberspace.

They come here, to the Jump Up Internet Rescue School, the first camp of its kind in South Korea and possibly the world, to be cured.

Son DamBi to be guest performer for Pussycat Dolls’ concert in Korea

It has been confirmed that singer Son DamBi will be the guest performer for opening of Pussycat Dolls‘ concert in Korea on 6th June in Seoul Olympic performance hall.

Pussycat Dolls‘ company WMA had gathered some of Son DamBi’s information and record, and after seeing them, the group had expressed they wanted to meet Son DamBi and hence had decided with her as the guest performer for their concert.

Son DamBi will also get to meet and talk to the Pussycat Dolls for her opening stage. Son DamBi, before her debut, had experience of going on the Billboard charts in the girl group ‘S-Brush’. And hence she is able to give a different feel for her meeting with the Pussycat Dolls.

Recently, 2 celebrities got into a fist fight at a club in ‘Hong-dae’ and “detective” netizens have been on a mission to find out who those celebrities were. As news began to float around on portal sites, only initials were given as ‘TV personality A’ and ‘Top model B’. However, the brawl between ‘A’ and ‘B’ seems to have been pretty serious. Reportedly, tables were flipped over, ‘B’ was dragged out by the neck, ‘B’ ended up with broken teeth, bruises and all the other good stuff that comes after a brawl. Due to curious netizens, news that was supposed to quietly disappear, only spread like wildfire putting the 2 celebrities in the hot seat. To make things worse, overnight a short clip of the brawl was put up online by one of the “detective” netizen’s.

Now, who is ‘TV personality A’ and ‘Top model B’? Many full names of a few celebrities were brought up but the top 2 names mentioned were Marco (Son Dam-bi’s husband from ‘WGM’) and Bae Jung-nam (Top model of Korea).

Lee Jung Hyun's "Crazy" Teaser

A teaser video to Lee Jung Hyun (AVA)’s comeback song ‘Crazy’ has been revealed.

To prepare for the MV filming, a dance audition for dancers in the MV was held, and the costumes team of pop star Britney Spears and dance choreographer Brian Friedman were also engaged.

The teaser video shows the making to the MV and had also raised the expectations and anticipation for Lee Jung Hyun’s comeback. Lee was also seen with her dance choreographer Brian Friedman in the video.

Her comeback minialbum ‘Avaholic’ is said to be released on 19th May.

War of the new female groups? 2NE1 VS T-ara

The ‘war’ between the new female groups 2NE1 and T-ara has been a hot topic amongst netizens.

Group 2NE1 received attention with the successful release of CM song ‘Lollipop’ wiht Big Bang even before their debut. And with their debut song ‘Fire’ released recently, the song went up to #5 on music charts and #1 for download chart.

And for T-ara who released the song ‘Good Person Ver.1′ last week went up to #35 this week, but even so the song ‘Female Generation’ by SeeYa, Davichi and T-ara member JiYeon is moving up the music charts very fast at #3 position with ‘Fire’ following close behind.

One Korean music industry official said, “Unlike the other female groups like So Nyeo Shi Dae, WonderGirls, SeeYa and KARA, 2NE1 and T-ara received acknowledge for their capabilities even before their debut. We are seeing that these 2 groups will continue to grow in terms of popularity.”

 

Meanwhile, to update about the Kpop scene, 2PM’s ‘Again&Agin’ has gone up to #1 on the Mnet chart in just 2 weeks. This is also the first #1 the group has gotten 8 months into their debut.

This week, Lee Seung Chul 24 years into his debut and recently released his 10th album ‘Mutopia’ title song ‘Lost A Nail’ is at #37, and ChaeYeon who is back with the song ‘Shake’ coming back after 2 years and 2 months is #44, while JunJin’s comeback song ‘Hey!Ya’ featuring Son DamBi is at #59.

Goo Hye-sun debuts as a director

First a book with hand-drawn illustrations and now a short film.

“Boys over Flowers” star, Goo Hye-sun will make her official debut as a director through her short film ‘A Pleasant Helper’, at the 13th annual ‘Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival’ on July 16th. There were a total of 512 short films submitted but only 35 were lucky enough to have their works shown at the festival. Looks like Goo Hye-sun was one of the lucky 35.

‘A Pleasant Helper’ is a story about a week long journey of a man who seeks to be saved from his sins and turns to the catholic church for help. The story doesn’t sound too interesting but there must be something intriguing about the film since it was selected as one of the top 35 films.

So, does anyone know what this girl can NOT do?

KARA to comeback with new minialbum in July

Popular female group KARA will comeback with a new 3rd minialbum in July.

Their company revealed on 13th May, “KARA is set to comeback this July. They will start on recording for the new minialbum soon. The only thing is that we have not decided on the date of comeback.”

The girls released their 2nd minialbum ‘Pretty Girl’ last December and did promotions for the songs ‘Pretty Girl’ and ‘Honey’ until April recently. They took a little rest from the Kpop scene but were still active on some broadcast programmes and they will start work on their new album soon.

The store titled an uncreative, "Crebeau-JEFF" for "Creating Beauty-Just Especially for Face" is a cross between a spa and a beauty supply shop. Though personally, I think the prices are a little steep, the store features a variety of beauty products from facial foam cleanser and sunscreen to shampoo and even a spa comforter set! As for the look of the shop... all I've got to say is that, that toilet is pretty epic... though I don't know anyone who would have the courage to sit on something so cute when their about to do something so incredibly NOT cute!

The store's mission statement featuring beautiful Engrrish: 'JEFF' is short for 'Just Especially for Face'. Crebeau stands for the meaning of white, beautiful face, not just about the face, but also for the whole body of skin to look like reborn. We are looking forward to servicing you.

Yeah, I don't think you guys can give me the kind of service I'm looking for. However, if Jaejoong (or any of the other members for that matter) just-so-happens to be at the shop one day, perhaps we can go in the back and I'll show him exactly what I need....

I must say, only Jaejoong could get away with being so vain as to put his face on every single corner of that store... he's even on the spa slippers! Then again... if I looked like that, I'd make sure you'd remember it too.

WonderGirls ex-member HyunA will debut again in a 5-member group called ‘4minute’.

HyunA’s company said on the 14th, “We have finally decided that HyunA group will have 5 members. And the group name is 4minute. 4minute will debut in mid-June.”

The group 4minute is company Playcube Entertainment’s 2nd project. The group is said to be different from the usual girl group in the Kpop world, and is formed by 5 members who had trained for a long time for this debut and are all very talented.

The boys are finally in Japan and they held a press conference earlier at a hotel in Tokyo for promotion of the new single "My Heaven".
It was also announced that a second single, no title yet, will soon be released on July 8th. Said single will only have 2 versions, compared to "My Heaven" that has three.
There will be an event for the second single's release on the same day at Yoyogi. Fans who will buy both single will have the chance to win a DVD present, whatever that is.

Super Junior ShinDong gets into a minor car accident

Super Junior ShinDong driving in his van in Seoul SongPaGoo in front of Pearl Apartment when his van collided with a bicycle on the morning of 14th May at 2.35am.

The side mirror to ShinDong’s car was damaged while the cyclist’s wrist was injured. According to the police, the cyclist may have been drunk during the time of accident.

It is said that ShinDong was in shock, and after the accident he went to the police station and left his statements.

Big Bang, “We wish to appear on NHK Red & White Songfest”

Group Big Bang, which is currently working on advancing into the Japan major music industry and revealed that they wish to appear on the annual NHK Red&White Songfest. They were at their press conference in Japan Tokyo Grand Hyatt Hotel on 13th May when they said, “Seonbae (senior) group Dong Bang Shin Ki had appeared on NHK Red & White Songfest.
