Exo M's only Chinese member, Lay, made an appearance at the Chinese program CCTV Youth Day Gala on May 4, 2017. According to CCTV, the Gala is to celebrate China's annual Youth Day

#EXODUS Members SME Contract to Be Valid Until 2022

After arbitration in court, a settlement has been decided on in the legal dispute between SM Entertainment and former EXO members Kris (Wu Yi Fan) and Luhan.

The court has settled the case with recommendation for reconciliation. Kris and Luhan’s contract with SM Entertainment will remain valid until 2022, as per their original contract.

SM Entertainment’s legal representatives released a statement, stating, “We cannot reveal specific details about our settlement, but by the court’s decision and the settlement between the involved parties, SM Entertainment will continue its contract with Luhan and Kris until 2022.”

The statement continues, “SM Entertainment will contract out management of Kris and Luhan for their activities outside of Korea and Japan, and the two will share related revenues with SM Entertainment.”

A source from SM Entertainment has also clarified, “They will of course not be promoting as EXO members.”

Kris and Luhan filed lawsuits against SM Entertainment in May and October of 2014, claiming that their exclusive contracts with the company were invalid due to the length of the contract, treatment from the company, unfair profit distribution, and other reasons.

4minute might disband; HyunA stays in Cube

According to some sources in the industry, the five-membered group 4minute is to disband after seven years of activity.
Cube Entertainment has renewed its contract with HyunA and is also negotiating renewal with some of the other members. Those who are not renewing plan to seek new agencies.
One industry associate claims that each member has a different idea of their future path whether it be singing or acting, and after several months of discussion, they have decided that it was difficult to keep the group togehter.

Addicting releases, overseas appreciation, English releases and more - the year is 2009, and K-pop is just getting introduced to many international fans thanks to the proliferation of YouTube and hits like Girls' Generation's "Gee," Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," and Wonder Girls' "Nobody." Scandals and lawsuits galore, 2009 was filled with both good and bad, and has been held for six years as the biggest year for K-pop.



Flash forward to 2015. The songs and groups that made 2009 a major success are still around - Super Junior celebrated their tenth anniversary, Girls' Generation rebounded from a member departure with several hit singles, and the Wonder Girls adjusted to leader Sunye's marriage by reinventing themselves.

Dumb CEO of SME Wants To Debut All Chinese Group

In a recent interview with Yeonhap News, Kim Young Min, the CEO of SM Entertainment revealed SM’s plans to debut a new group next year.

On December 7th, Kim Young Min revealed his plans to make SM a more global company.
When asked “How far along is SM in their globalization plan?” Kim Young Min answered,
”The three stage of globalization is first, export of culture, second, collaboration and third, localization. BoA, TVXQ was export, Super Junior and EXO the collaboration through including Chinese members and now we will begin the third phase of localization with the debut of an all Chinese boy group. We are currently producing a idol raising variety show with Hunan Television and the survivals of this show will debut under our production.”
