SISTAR’s Bora and DMTN’s Daniel Get Injured During “Idol Star Athletics Championship”

During the recent “Idol Star Athletics Championship” held by MBC, SISTAR’s Bora and DMTN’s Daniel were injured during the women’s and men’s 70 meter dashes, respectively.

On January 28, SISTAR’s agency Starship Entertainment stated, “Bora is currently being treated for her injury. It is, however, not serious and therefore her schedule will not be affected.”

Unfortunately, DMTN’s agency 2Works Entertainment had a different news. An official stated, “Daniel was in a lot of pain, so we took him to the emergency clinic immediately. We suspect that his old knee injury may have resurfaced.”

Unlike Bora, Daniel’s injury is expected to affect DMTN’s promotion schedule. DMTN was planning to release their new album “Safety Zone” on January 29, 2013.

2Works Entertainment added, “Daniel is currently undergoing several tests. Depending on the results, we will decide on the schedule.”

Meanwhile, Bora and Hyorin, as SISTAR 19, will start promoting their new song starting January 31, 2013.

MFBTY helps spread Korean Hip Hop awareness to the world through MIDEM

MFBTY took over Cannes, France during their MIDEM stage.

Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae, and Bizzy stood on stage at MIDEM for ‘K-POP Night Out at MIDEM 2013‘. The trio announced to the world what K-hip hop sounded like, leaving a strong impression on everyone in the audience.

The ‘Korean Jay-Z and Beyonce’ sang a parade of their hit songs including, “In the Heart of a Genuinely Pushing Heart“, “Thumb“, “Pay Day“, “The Scent of Life“, and “Get It In“. They also sang MFBTY’s “Sweet Dream” live for the very first time. The biggest climax of the night was when Tiger JK sang “Monster“, and fans jumped up and down as they cheered him on.

Tiger JK said, “It meant a lot to us because we were able to help spread K-hip hop awareness at a place where the giants of music in the world were all gathered. We were invited to MIDEM after our success at the ‘Music Matters Showcase‘ last May, and we’re looking forward to see what kind of opportunities will come our way after this performance.”

Jungle Entertainment said, “MFBTY can be called the representatives of K-hip hop. Many in the music industry both in and out of Korea are paying attention to MFBTY because of their appearance at both Music Matters and MIDEM. We were able to confirm the feasibility of K-hip hop spreading to the world through this performance.”

LEESSANG In NYC: Fan Account and Fancams!

So last thursday, I had the opportunity to see LEESSANG at the Best Buy Theater in New York City. And man, standing in the GA line for three and a half hours in the bitter cold and wind was worth every second of the ~two hour concert that Gary, Gil, Jung In, and their band put on.

2013 Korean Music Awards noms are out

The nominees for the 10th annua Korean Music Awards ere released. Unlike majority of other major music awards in Korea, Korean Music Awards do not take sales into consideration, and the winners (excluding the Netizen’s Choice Award) are determined by a panel of music critics and industry experts, similar to the Grammy’s in the USA. The full list of nominees are below. The ceremony will take place on February 28.

IU to work with producing team behind Janet Jackson for upcoming Japanese album

In addition to her upcoming drama activities in Korea, IU is also confirmed to release a Japanese album this coming March.

Japanese music retail chain HMV had previously announced on their homepage, “IU is set to release original songs in Japan for the first time.” LOEN Entertainment confirmed the news on January 28th: “IU will release an album featuring her first original songs in Japan on March 20th.”

IU’s upcoming Japanese project is said to include the participation of hit-making producer team, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who are most famous for their works with Janet Jackson, and have also worked with other world famous stars as Michael Jackson, Prince, and Boyz II Men, just to name a few.

A representative commented, “It will be a production that showcases the moment that IU, who turns 20 (international age) this year, matures from a girl into a woman.”

In other news, IU will be starring in the upcoming KBS 2TV drama, ‘You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin‘, alongside Jo Jung Suk, set to premiere this March!

MBC’s ‘Idol Star Athletics Championship’ films for 22 hours, draws complaints

The latest rendition of MBC’s ‘Idol Star Athletics Championship‘ filmed for a record of 22 hours yesterday (28th), drawing complaints from staff members and entertainment representatives.

The filming started at 7:00 AM, which required the participating competitors to wake up at 4:00 AM to begin makeup and hair conditioning. Despite the fun atmosphere that occurred once the filming began, the recording time soon sped past the stated finishing time of 2:00 AM the next morning, and final filming only wrapped up at 5:00 AM – which meant that the idols had been on set for nearly a full day.

The competitors who had been eliminated early also weren’t allowed to leave the set, requiring them to waste valuable time when they could have been taking care of other schedules.

A representative for an entertainment company bemoaned this bloated filming session: “Our idols had five schedules the day after the Championship recording,” he complained. “I don’t know if they’ll be able to finish them being so tired.”

Another representative echoed these sentiments, saying “it was nearly imprisonment, not allowing the early eliminated idols to leave”.

The release of the long awaited Japanese original track, バニスタ! (Bunny Style), has been decided!

With the new member Areum who joined last year, big news from the newly formed T-ara!

As craved by the fans, the new Japanese original single バニスタ! (Bunny Style) has been set for a release on March 20th! (Further details to be announced afterwards.)

For the first time, the Limited Edition CD+DVD will have 3 editions and the Regular edition will be 7 editions, in total there will be 10 discs on sale.

The Limited Edition CD+DVD disc will feature バニスタ! (Bunny Style) plus sub-units of T-ara along with music videos for both バニスタ! (Bunny Style) and sub-unit songs. In addition, the Regular Editions will feature solo music of the 7 T-ara members. That makes 11 new Japanese original tracks!

This single is rumored to involve some sort of collaboration with Sanrio's MY MELODY character (hence the Bunny title) since Soyeon mentioned something about them working with Sanrio at their fanmeeting last month and the merchandise they gave out was covered in My Melody as well.

An SBS show called 'That I Want to Know' featured the story about a man whose fiance disappeared overnight. By investigating the CCTV around her apartment, he was able to find footage of her being forcefully pulled by a group of men while her son from a previous marriage watched on.

He eventually traced her to a mental hospital and discovered that her ex-husband and her son had conspired to lock her up because they were in the middle of dividing their property for their divorce.

Lee Joon and Oh Yeon Seo to end their run on ‘We Got Married’?

MBLAQ‘s Lee Joon and actress Oh Yeon Seo will be leaving ‘We Got Married‘.

On January 29th, MBC revealed that Lee Joon and Oh Yeon Seo are in the process of concluding their run as an on-screen married couple on the fourth season of the show. At the earliest, the two will film their final episode early February.

The stars first became a couple on last year’s September 15th airing of the new season of ‘We Got Married’. They’ve been appearing on the show as a virtual couple for 5 months.

There have been complaints by viewers ever since Oh Yeon Seo’s scandal with her ‘Oh Ja Ryong is Coming‘ co-star Lee Jang Woo erupted. Though Oh Yeon Seo’s agency denied that the two actors were dating, the aftermath likely attributed to the actress and MBLAQ member’s departure.

For the time being, the show will continue with the Julien Kang-Yoon Se Ah as well as the Kwanghee-Sunhwa couple after Lee Joon and Oh Yeon Seo leave the show.

Update:

There are now conflicting reports about Lee Joon and Oh Yeon Seo leaving ‘We Got Married’.

According to Lee Joon’s agency J.Tunes Camp, “Considering that Lee Joon’s fan cafe post unintentionally caused harm to the ‘We Got Married’ producers and his busy schedule was adjusted, it’s true that an amicable finish [to the show] was recently requested.” Oh Yeon Seo’s label Wellmade STARM also announced, “It’s true that we’re currently negotiating [Oh Yeon Seo's leave from the show]. We’ll probably make the final decision by the end of this week.”

However, there is also a news portal reporting that ‘We Got Married’ producers have not been informed about the couple leaving the program, and that Lee Joon and Oh Yeon Seo were filming as usual recently.

If you haven’t noticed, we love K-pop girl groups. They’re perfectly groomed by their labels’ respective training regimen, and know exactly how to tingle our hearts with sugary croons. Their cutesy antics and dazzling appearances also help a great deal. But often times, their actual talents as singers and performers come into question. High heels and coordinated mini skirts can dazzle a fan base only so far.

Fans will soon get a chance to witness more interaction between Girls’ Generation and Shinhwa, for the girls will be the next girl group to feature as guests on JTBC‘s ‘Shinhwa Broadcast‘, following SISTAR.

On the 28th, a representative of the station revealed that Girls’ Generation recently featured as guests during a filming for the show.

Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, Taeyeon, Sunny, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, and Yuri are reported to be the six beautiful ladies of the group who will appear on the show alongside the six members of Shinhwa, raising curiosity about which members of the girl group and Shinhwa will couple up with each other for the upcoming episode.

Rainbow takes the concept of teaser to a new level

Rainbow, who has been hinting at their comeback mid-February, has just revealed a photo that is sure to tease fans for their return!

As mentioned previously, the 7-member girl group will be releasing an album in one year and 7 months, since ‘Sweet Dream‘ in June of 2011, during the upcoming month.

Not much is known about the comeback, and the girls haven’t made it any easier to figure anything out with their newest tweet, which reads, “Rainbow who has lost their tops! Tell me&%#^!?” Along with the photo above, it seems the girls will have us guessing for a bit longer!
