ALi: “I’m a Rape Victim, Too”
2011-12-16 01:04 am
In a shocking revelation, ALi revealed her past as a rape victim. The female singer held a press conference today to address the recent controversy surrounding her latest single, “Nayoungee.” She’s been under fire for writing a song based on a real-life rape victim “Nayoung” that was later dubbed as “The Nayoung Case,” and for naming the song after the actual victim.
“I was raped in June of 2008 by a younger colleague from an organization I was a part of. It was devastating and extremely painful. I got hit so hard in the face that I broke my cheekbones and had to be hospitalized for four weeks. Everything happened while I was unconscious in the cab,” ALi said with tears in her eyes.
“That person got arrested and was sentenced to two years in prison, four years on probation, and 200 hours of community work. But he wasn’t charged of injuring a person because of lack of evidence. The civil suit is still going on,” she added.
Since the release of “Nayoungee” earlier this week, ALi has faced mounting criticism for the song’s lyrics and title. “Nayoungee” is the name of the eight-year old girl that got raped by a man named Cho Doo Soon in the bathroom of a church in 2008. She said she wrote the song to give hope and comfort to the victim, and to raise awareness for preventive measures. But netizens and several celebrities criticized her for raising the issue again when the victim’s still suffering from pain. ALi and her agency later announced they would delete the song from her album.
For those who are curious, here are the lyrics to the entire song:

Global news provider, BBC World News, recently conducted an interview in English with 2NE1‘s leader CL.
The news anchor began by talking about 2NE1′s achievement in scoring the ‘MTV Iggy Best New Band In the World‘ award, before they went on to discuss the global impact and potential of K-Pop. Viewers were quite amazed at how the Korean native responded smoothly in English with little hesitation.
At one point in the interview, the BBC asked, “Talking about K-Pop, how big of a future do you think it will have on the global entertainment industry?“, to which the idol answered, “Well, I think it’s just the start and I hope it gets bigger and bigger, but I don’t know if we want to categorize ourselves into one thing as 2NE1.”

The 4th court trial between Tablo and organization Tajinyo (“We Demand the Truth from Tablo”) has been delayed once again. ‘Tajinyo’ was created after certain netizens began to question the legitimacy of Tablo’s academic background in Stanford University.
The 4th trial was originally scheduled to be held on December 16th in the Seoul Central District Court. The purpose of the trial was to sue the members of Tajinyo for criminal discrimination against Tablo. However, it’s been delayed because the original documents of Tablo’s admission to university and graduation diploma requested by Tajinyo have not arrived yet.
This is the second time the trial has been delayed, with the first delay being in July.
The fourth trial will resume on March 16th, 2012.
Who cares if he got his diploma from Standford or out of a cornflex box?

Seohyun surprised everyone on set when she remarked, “I always write in my journal before I go to sleep. And after I write, I reflect back on my day.”
Fellow member Sooyoung confirmed, “Check her MP3 player. There’s proof that she meditates each night. She listens to music like ‘Sounds of the Forest’, and ‘River Sounds’… One day, I noticed she ordered some stretching music, and I heard a bird chirping in the tracks.”
Yuri added, “One day, Hyoyeon was in a really bad mood, so Seohyun gave her one of her meditation CDs. But Hyoyeon, who prefers hip hop, yelled ‘What is this?!’ and got pretty angry instead,” causing the rest of the cast to laugh.
Seohyun also showed off her piano skills that day, which you can check out below!

Five-member girl group New.F.O is receiving interest in Korea because of their unique dance routine.
On December 15th, footage of the girls dancing the choreography to their debut song “Bounce” was revealed through their official YouTube channel, and many netizens noted that there’s a similarity between New.F.O. and ‘trend idols’ INFINITE.

Recently, SHINee was forced to cancel their event in Japan due to safety issues as too many fans were gathered in the area. However, media in Japan have been reporting that the reason why there was such a big crowd was because the organizer of the event stated that the group holding the event is “a 5-member group with a name beginning with the letter S.” This made the crowd believe that the organizer was referring to a popular Japanese group, SMAP. This has angered netizens and resulted in criticism that SHINee was trying to boost their popularity with SMAP’s name.
