Super Junior, first to surpass 300,000 copies of albums sold this year

Group Super Junior is the first to surpass an album sales of 300,000 copies this year.

On the 7th (of October), according to the Gaon Charts, Super Junior's official 5th album 'Mr. Simple' has set a cumulative sales record of 318,669 copies.

Retaining their popularity, Super Junior clinched the second place (on the charts) through the album sales of their repackaged album for the month of September. The first place was taken by Kara's third album 'Step', which sold a total of 97,667 copies.

Super Junior's album sales for the month of September only showed a slight difference of 457 copies when compared to the album sales of the first-placed Kara. Also, Super Junior who came out as first on the album charts for the month of August with their 5th album 'Mr. Simple', which sold nearly 287, 000 copies last month, has sold another 31,242 copies and is ranked 4th. Through this, their 5th album has surpassed a total of 310,000 copies.

Third place was occupied by Infinite's 1st special repackaged album 'Paradise', selling 34,704 copies. Sung Sikyung, who came back with his 7th album 'The First', came out in 5th place, selling a total of 30,077 copies.

Seohyun and Donghae to sing for ’2011 Asia Song Festival’

It has been revealed on October 6th that Super Junior's Donghae and Girls' Generation's maknae Seohyun will be releasing a special single for the "2011 Asia Song Festival" on October 11th titled "Dreams Come True." The two artists will also appear at the festival on October 15th at the Daegu Stadium, where they will be performing free of charge.

The single has been chosen as the theme song for the "2011 Asia Song Festival" and it is said to be an easy-to-follow song and cheerful melody sung by the dark voice of Donghae and Seohyun's clear vocals.

Proceeds from the digital single will be donated to UNICEF, which will go to the people and children of East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti) who are suffering from famine.

Seohyun was reported stating, "I am happy to be able to use my skills to help the hungry children in the affected areas of East Africa."

Donghae said, "I am honored to have been chosen to sing the theme song for the 'Asia Song Festival' and share the hopes and dreams of people across the world."

The "Asia Song Festival" is sponsored by the Korea Foundation Cultural Industries, who have stated, "Donghae and Seohyun already receive a lot of love globally for their talents. Thanks to their help, the next UNICEF envoy can share the culture even more. Hopefully in the future of the 'Asia Song Festival,' top stars of Asia can evolve the festival into an international charity music event."

KARA gets a record for something that isn't true

According to the Gaon chart rankings released on the 7th, KARA’s third full Korean album, “Step,” has grabbed the top spot on the album sales chart for the month of September. The album sold 97,667 copies in the past month, beating out all the other artists. This is the first time that a girl group has been ranked number one on the album sales chart since July, when 2NE1 managed to secure the top spot back then. Moreover, this is the first time for a female group to exceed 90,000 in album sales, with the 100,000 copies milestone within reach.

After KARA, Super Junior came in second place with their repackaged album, “A-Cha.” The album sold 97,210 in September, as the group lost to KARA by a mere 457 copies. In third place was Infinite, with a total of 34,704 copies of their album, “Paradise,” sold in the last month.

Super Junior also grabbed the fourth spot with “Mr. Simple.” After selling more than 287,000 copies of the album back in August, the group added 31,242 more copies to its record. Rounding out the top five is Sung Shikyung with his album “The First,” which sold 30,077 copies.

The rest of the chart includes: “Protect the Boss” OST with 23,894 copies, B1A4’s “It B1A4” with 20,791 copies, and Brown Eyed Girls’ “Sixth Sense” with 19,285 copies.

N. Korea warns of physical action against S. Korean 'war moves'

North Korea warned on Saturday it could take physical action against South Korea in response to the South's "ceaseless provocative war moves."

The (North) Korean Central News Agency, Pyongyang's state-run media, said the Korean Peninsula was at "the crossroads of dialogue or confrontation and peace or war." It accused South Korea of intruding into North Korean waters in the Yellow Sea and of sending anti-North Korea propaganda leaflets across the border.

"In September alone, more than 80 warships of the South Korean navy intruded into the waters of the North side in the sea, while anti-communist right-wing conservative organizations scattered a lot of leaflets and undesirable USBs and pamphlets into areas of the north side (of the border)," the KCNA said in an English-language dispatch.

TVXQ to release ballad single in Japan

Tohoshinki's NEW SINGLE (title TBA) will be released on 11/30!!! It will be a ballad song that fits the winter season. There will be three versions: CD+DVD version, CD version, and Bigeast version.

[Update about Bigeast version]: The limited Bigeast edition with special first press privilege items is only available for Bigeast members. However, you can order the regular Bigeast version at mu-mo shop (note: this site is only available in Japanese) even if you are non-Bigeast (see HERE).

For international fans, right now CDJapan (CD+DVD, CD) and HMV.jp (CD+DVD, CD) has started to accept the pre-orders of the new single. More to follow when there is more information on international ordering.

I feel sorry for Woohyun. Personally, I believe his vocal talent is considered to be extremely good for an idol but it was overshadowed by the other pure blooded singers such as Shin Young Jae, Hong Kyung Min, Minkyung and ALi.

So whose performance was the best, OMONA? I feel in love with ALi's and Hong Kyung Min's performance. They need to stay in IS2 forever!

Tablo Set to Release Single "Airbag" on October 14

Epik High's Tablo, who recently signed a contract with YG Entertainment, announced his come back after two years.

On October 14 Tablo will release his first solo single "Airbag" as digital single. The song is featuring R&B artist Naul and it will be included in Tablo's first solo album set to be out on November 1.

Tablo explained the song's meaning, "Like in a car accident, where people are protected by the airbag, how great would it be if there is something that can protect us when we encounter sadness or adversity in our lives?" He explained how he used this thought to create the song with acoustic sound with his poetic lyrics. Tablo composed the melody for his new songs and wrote the lyrics. The album also includes songs about his past two years, when Tablo took a break from the public scene after he was accused of providing a false Stanford degree. Of course the singer proved that his Stanford degree was in fact real.

The CEO of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, declared that Tablo's album is the one which he lately enjoys listening to the most. The album will not only be a declariation of all the hard moments he encountered during these two years, but also every song will have a different feeling thanks to all the artists who were willing to collaborate with the Epik High leader.

Expections are high from the Epik High fans, since it will be the debut of Tablo as a solo singer for the first time.
