SM pulled a YG in that the original did well enough for them to discard the rest, I think (like what happened with Lee Hi/Supearls). FWIW there are some mild fan-theories about SNSD making another sub-unit to focus on the Chinese market (with people like Jessica, Hyoyeon, and maybe Yoona or Sunny idk), but it's mostly wishful thinking. Apart from that, the 'rotating sub-unit' idea seems to have gone.
