nominations for the 2015 mnet asian music awards are out!

so, it's that time of year again. after the announcements for the 2015 melon music awards were released earlier this month (which are set to air on november 7th), the nominations for the 2015 mnet asian music award have now be announced. the show will take place on december 2nd in hong kok (as per usual). nominations are below along with criteria, ect. (apparently the eligibility timeline for last year's show was october 23rd-ish? so, anything that was released between the time after eligibility ended there and yesterday kst was eligible for this year's show.) (also: ignore the weird or delayed captions on some of the screencaps. the nominations were announced via naver's v application and we kinda delayed.)

Group EXO is reportedly preparing for a Christmas album!

On October 30, the producer team Joombas confirmed on their social media that the EXO members are currently recording new songs with a new Christmas release in mind.

They posted, “Coming this winter #EXO #Christmas #EXO #SM #Joombas,” inciting curiosity in their fans. It appears as though they have since erased their post.

EXO debuted in 2012 and has been breaking records since 2013 with their album sales. In addition, their previous Christmas album was a hit on charts and with fans.

Meanwhile, EXO is looking forward to their Japanese debut in November. They are set to release their first Japanese single on November 4 and will be embarking on a Japanese tour, rounding out the Tokyo Dome from November 6 to November 8 and the Osaka Kyocera Dome from November 13 to 15.

YoungstarMiny feat. Issue & 朴 - 밤공기 (Night Air)

Night Air mixes traditional-sounding string and flute instrumentation with rap, and manages to combine the two without sounding forced. This makes YoungstarMiny's second entry into the monthly indie roundup, so hopefully we'll hear more good music from him in the future.


MaseWonder - Summer Night

Although a bit seasonally late, "Summer Night" still makes a nice, low-key song to turn up when the sun goes down, though I could live without the weird breakdown starting about 2 minutes in and finishing when the song just sort of falls off. MaseWonder (real name Kim Jisu) has his own Youtube channel and Soundcloud where he's done covers of Zion.T and Lee Jin Ah songs, as well as some original stuff.


Bamspicnic - Crooked Lips

This four-piece band brings us a dreamy, Britpop-inspired tune with some soothing vocals. Their full "Dizzy" EP is available on iTunes.
