A girl group trainee has been forced to pay hefty fine for leaving just ahead of the group’s debut.
As of May 18th, Seoul Central District ruled that trainee Kim is to first compensate 12,470,000 won out of 55,700,0000 won for leaving early.
The agency stated, “The trainee’s one-sided cancellation of contract has caused a loss for our agency.” Reportedly, trainee Kim has signed a short training contract on October of 2013 in order to join the agency’s rookie girl group that was planned to debut last July. However, trainee Kim left during practice and never returned last April. Following another trainee leaving, the agency delayed the girl group’s debut for another five months.
According to the court, “(Due to Kim’s violation of the contract) under the condition of termination, the trainee is to compensate twice the amount that has been invested. The compensation amount is not excessively heavy as well.”
The court has denied trainee Kim’s statement, “Agency ‘A’ required unrealistic weight loss and excluded me from practice due to my physical appearance” as an excuse for early termination of contract. However, the court has also rejected the agency’s claim that Trainee A is responsible to compensate for the five month delay of the girl group’s debut, as the reason behind the delay seems to be because of the other trainee’s leaving and not because of trainee Kim.

Some may be surprised to learn that there are requirements in some Korean resumes that would be considered shocking in other countries.
Many companies require a photo, height, weight, and even family backgrounds of the applicant as part of the application process.
The photo taking is a huge stress to those looking for a job. Park Eun Mi, a young applicant, said, “It costs a lot of money, since you would probably get your hair and makeup done professionally for those photos. Even as I’m getting the photos taken, I think I wonder why exactly I have to do this.”
On the Internet, tips as to how to take a good photo just for application purposes are everywhere.
Of course, this type of resume is hard to understand for many foreigners. American Santana described the practice as ‘shocking,’ saying, “In America we don’t put our picture or our birthday, things like that on our resumes. It lays the groundwork for discrimination whether it be on age, gender, or appearance.”
Since 2007, the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor is recommending a standard resume that forgoes pictures and family backgrounds to try to stop employers from focusing more on looks than skills; however, not many companies have adapted the standard resume.
In fact, motion to make photos and physical appearance requirements illegal on resumes was made, but it has not gotten much attention and has been on the back burner for three years.

On May 17 episode of “King of Mask Singer,” Girl’s Day member Sojin shows off her smooth and sultry voice while hiding her identity under a cute pink mask.
She performs the song “Like Rain and Music” as a duet with a fellow contestant. One of the judges says that her voice is very unique, while another comments that her tone is amazing. Several of the judges are convinced that she’s EXID‘s Hani, not only because of her voice but also because of the way she walks!
Unfortunately she loses that round, and so she slips off her mask to reveal her identity as she performs “Caution” by Tashannie. The judges remark that she showed off a powerful voice that was very different from what they’re used to hearing from her when she performs with Girl’s Day.

Ice queen Kim Yuna has updated on her life post figure-skating for magazine Allure Korea.
In the fashion pictorials, Kim Yuna displayed a more composed and natural poses differing from her time as a figure skater. In particular, the natural day light accentuates her unique feminine and down-to-earth charms.
During a follow up interview, she mentioned, “I still don’t know what I really want to do. Currently, I am attending a graduate school, looking after my juniors at Tae Reung, and enjoying time off for photo-shoots like today as well as roles as an honorary ambassador. GOT7 Jr will play the younger counterpart of the male lead in the new JTBC drama "My Love Eun Dong".
The fans are really excited with Jr's short participation in the drama are even more excited after the announcement of My Love Eundong "The Beginning", a webdrama that will show more about the love of the main characters during their late 10s and early 20s.
It'll be a 5-episode webdrama with 10 minutes each episode on May 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 and 29.
The webdrama's going to be aired prior to the original TV drama that is scheduled to May 29.
