The casting has been finalized for Answer Me 1988, the third installment of the popular tvN Answer Me series. The production just released the confirmed cast and it includes the following: Hyeri of Girl’s Day as the female lead, Park Bo Geum is the male lead, and the supporting cast consists of Go Kyung Pyo (a Tomorrow’s Cantabile reunion), newbie actress Ryu Hye Young (last seen in Spy), movie actor Ryu Jun Yeol, Lee Dong Hwi (Lee Jun Ki‘s buddy in Joseon Gunman), rising young actor Ahn Jae Hong, with the parents played by third time returning veterans Sung Dong Il and Lee Il Hwa. Filming is scheduled to start in the summer with an eye towards a fall air date on the cable network.

im just........... why do bad things happen to good people. there was a blind rumor about d.o & irene auditioning but tbh im sure everyone and their mom auditioned. idk how hyeri got this part since she's unbearable in everything. but maybe we'll be delightfully surprised. im not counting on it tho.at least we have park bo geum. edited more knetz into it mods!!.

They snuck Eunji past the post without much netizen comment bc no one was checking for a 90s-set cable show when they were casting, and by the time ppl noticed her they loved her, but ia about after that.

I'm convinced the Reply team likes to troll with female lead castings/picks the worst ones on purpose now so we can be surprised @the transformation. Like, having shown acting talent in any recent work previously is prob a liability if you want to be the leading lady here. And I'll still take Hyeri over Jin Se Yeon etc, any day.

Makes no fucking sense to me, it's not like she is an unknown talent (Eunji) or someone with untapped potential (Ahra), she is honestly terrible, horrible, and this comes from someone who loves and supports most idol actors if I believe they have some sort of potential acting wise, or at least has charisma and on screen presence to fill that void and entertain the public and to me Hyeri lacks it all.

Hopefully she will prove me wrong, making me bite my words and will be delightful to watch, showcasing a new side of her.
