Honey G has got a jam or two just for you

Honey G is a trio of boys named Park Ji Yong, Kwon Tae Hyun, and Bae Jae Hyun. They made it to the top 7 of Superstar K4.

Last week, they released a self-titled studio album. (There is a song called "Wolf" fyi, it is in this post.) A few months ago, one member of Honey G recorded a duet for Lee Hyori's latest album. (This is also in the post.)

Taeyeon to Throw Opening Pitch with Seohyun Batting at LG Twins and Nexen Heroes Baseball Game

On August 27th, Taeyeon and Seohyun will make a special appearance at a LG Twins and Nexen Heroes baseball game at Jamsil Stadium. Taeyeon will throw the opening pitch of the game with Seohyun as an honorary batter. This will be Taeyeon’s first time delivering an opening pitch, making her the seventh member of Girls’ Generation to do so, following Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Yuri, Yoona, and Seohyun. Seohyun has also previously been the celebratory batter at a Doosan Bears and Kia Tigers game in April of 2009.

The members of Girls’ Generation have been honorary pitchers at two baseball games this year alone, with Tiffany throwing the opening pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game in May, and Sunny throwing the opening pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds baseball game in July.

After more than a year since Girls’ Generation’s first subunit mini-album, Girls’ Generation – TTS’s “Twinkle”, was released, the trio of Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun will now release an official English album next month. Not only was “Twinkle” extremely successful, reaching 126th on the “Billboard 200″ album chart, but the three ladies also worked well together during their run as MCs on MBC’s “Show! Music Core”.

The information was revealed during the second day of KCON 2013, first tweeted out by Soshified. Soshified’s booth was also the first to show off the English version of “Twinkle”.

Additionally, casting company Global One in Los Angeles, California sent out a casting call for dancers who would like to be in Girls’ Generation’s new music video. According to the announcement, filming will begin in October.

Don Spike to Produce K-Pop Audition Program in Kenya

Composer and producer Don Spike will be bringing K-Pop auditions to Kenya.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the International Exchange Program, the project team A.S.K (acronym for African Sing Korean Soul) will head to Kenya on August 30 and the audition will last for ten days. Don Spike and saxophone player Shin Hyun Pil along with one or more musicians currently active in Kenya will be the judges for the show.

It’s been revealed that this audition program will not just be a simple show where Korea finds new talent, but an attempt for cross cultural exchange.

Don Spike comments, “The emotion and soul are national characteristics that are imprinted in the music. The biggest goal for this project is to introduce Africa’s emotions and soul. Thurs, rather than introducing unfamiliar African music right away, we needed a new way of effectively introducing their music.”

He continued, “I think that if K-Pop, which is known by Koreans and people abroad, contains Africa’s soul, it would be great. Also, I think that African musicians will be able to naturally convey Korea’s emotions through practice.”

The audition winner will be flown out to Korea at no expense and have the opportunity to record and release a single in Korea. The winner will also not have to worry about recording and living expenses during the trip. To make the deal even sweeter, the winner will also have the opportunity to work and collaborate with the top musicians in Korea. When finished, the single will be distributed worldwide for free.

This is an interesting turn of events. Earlier in 2012, Don Spike made a slew of negative comments against audition programs and their monopoly effect on the music industry.

[News] “Running Man” Shinhwa’s appearance, Minwoo “Dongwan fell into the sea on his way here”, burst of laughter

Shinhwa appeared on Running Man.

On SBS’s “Good Sunday - Running Man” broadcasted on the 25th, Shinhwa made an appearance after transforming into pirates.

The Running Man members mentioned about Dongwan’s absentee by saying “It seems like one person is missing” and Minwoo made a quip, saying “He fell into the sea on his way here.”

The actual battle between Running Man members and Shinhwa will air on 1st September.

New 'Actor group' 5urprise debut with 'Hey U Come On' OST

Acting idols 5urprise have made their singing debut with an OST for upcoming drama 'After School Randomness'.

The debut single is "Hey You Come On" a fun track that also serves the dual purpose of proving that the actor-hopefuls can also sing.

5urprise is a 5-member group made up of not 5 singers, but 5 actors. The group is made up of members Seo Kang Joon, Lee Tae Hwan, Yoo Il, Gong Myung, and Kang Tae Oh. The members are in their early 20s and were chosen through the 'Actor's League' program, which auditions actor-hopefuls.

The boys were also trained for 2 years in singing and dancing on top of their acting. Seo Kang Joon is the leader of the group. The drama, of which several members will appear in, will begin airing on September 2nd.
