"Gangnam Style" Steals SNSD's Thunder; SONEs Attempt To Reclaim The Record

After 49 days since it's release, PSY's "Gangnam Style" has become the highest viewed K-Pop music video on YouTube.

Girls' Generation's "Gee", released back on June 8, 2009, held the crown for quite some time with the highest views for a K-Pop music video. However, with the viral power of "Gangnam Style", PSY surpassed Girls' Generation and became the first K-Pop artist to surpass the 85 million view mark.

Over the past week, PSY’s "Gangnam Style" has been averaging nearly 5 million views a day and it seems it won’t be slowing down any time soon.

As of this posting, "Gee" has 83,999,904 views (with 250,374 likes and 22,721 dislikes). Meanwhile, "Gangnam Style" has 90,893,117 views (900,520 likes, 37,025 dislikes)

In an attempt to reclaim the record their girls held for three years, SONEs are attempting to make "Gee" reach 100 million views. They claim they are doing this for Hyoyeon's birthday, but obviously we know better.

How are they going to do it, you ask? By replaying "Gee" at least 10 times every day! Their plan is posted all over the video's comment section. Check out some of the highlights here.

Big Bang’s Seungri cast in his first Japanese drama

Big Bang‘s Seungri is doing great in Japan. He just wrapped up his first solo fan meeting in Japan and now he has been cast in a Japanese drama.

On September 1, it was announced that Seungri would appear in the upcoming Nihon TV special drama “Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo - Hongkong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case” that will be broadcast in the winter.

CRAZY + G-DRAGON = G-Dragon’s Comeback Single

G-Dragon’s new comeback single, as a solo artist, is titled “Crayon” and is the second track on the track listing released on YG Entertainment‘s blog. “Crayon” was produced by YG’s representative producer Teddy along with G-Dragon, with G-Dragon penning the lyrics.

The title “Crayon” is two-fold in meaning. It comes from combining “CRAZY+G-DRAGON” and also is short for “CRAZY ON.” As G-Dragon’s selected comeback single, it is expected that new single “Crayon” will strongly display G-Dragon’s special brand of crazy and his uniqueness.

G-Dragon’s comeback mini album “One of a Kind” will be released online on September 15.

FT Island to release 4th Korean studio album, "Five Treasure Box," next week

Over the weekend, FT Island performed their 2-day concert "TAKE FTISLAND" in Seoul at the Olympic Hall, raising expectations for their comeback further as they took the stage with a compelling performance and explosive energy.

At the concert, it was reported that fans from all kinds of nationalities attended including those from Japan, Denmark, Spain, Italy and Poland.

During the concert, FT Island's Choi Jonghoon and Lee Hongki announced to the audience, "Our new album titled 'FIVE TREASURE BOX' will hit stores on September 10th. 'FIVE TREASURE BOX' is composed of ten tunes and all the members worked together on composing five tracks in the album. We hope to show a different color of our music through the release."

Jay Park gave his own version of “Gangnam Style” on the set of his new CF!

Recently, a video titled, “Park Jae Bum Horse Dance,” was posted online. The video, reportedly filmed at the CF set of fashion brand Googims, shows Jay Park dance to the tunes of PSY’s megahit single, “Gangnam Style.”

Although the impromptu performance only lasted for 30 seconds, Jay Park showed off his full arsenal of moves for “Gangnam Style,” making the entire staff on set scream in excitement. The video was later dubbed “Jay Park’s b-boying ‘Gangnam Style,” based on his more refined “horse dance” moves.

Netizens commented, “Jay Park and the horse dance…I’m going crazy!” “This is an absolute beauty,” and “He’s the best dancer in K-Pop.”

6-KISS reveals teaser image for upcoming 7th mini album ‘STOP GIRL’

After unleashing their digital single “Cinderella“ last week, U-KISS is set to release their 7th mini album ‘STOP GIRL‘.

On September 3rd, the official U-KISS Twitter account shared the photo above which was taken from the set of their upcoming music video. There’s only 6 members in the teaser image as AJ is studying at Columbia University. The mini album is scheduled to be released on the 7th.

SECRET releases Hyosung’s teaser image for ‘Poison’

The group revealed member Hyosung‘s album jacket photo on September 3rd for their new mini album ‘Poison‘.

TS Entertainment is planning to release ‘Poison’ on September 13th and released the first teaser image today, showcasing Hyosung with short hair. The leader looks gorgeous in a red outfit as well as a noticeably slimmer face and body.

SECRET will be returning with ‘Poison’ after almost a year, as they ended promotions for ‘Love Is Move‘ in October of 2011, and was composed by producers Kang Ji Won and Kim Kibum, who produced their previous hits ‘Magic‘, ‘Madonna‘, ‘Shy Boy‘, and ‘Starlight Moonlight‘.

After having revealed their first part of their duet project album ‘Love Story’, which topped music charts, Seo In Guk and A Pink‘s Eunji are back with their second duet for ‘Reply 1997‘!

The song, titled “Our Love Like This“, is a remake of the OST track for movie ‘Love Wind, Love Song‘ by composer Chu Yong Hoon, and still remains popular today as it is often used as a wedding song.

After revealing their first teaser photo for Hyosung, SECRET has released the second teaser photo for ‘Poison‘ featuring Ji Eun!

Much like Hyosung, Ji Eun is also seen sporting a vibrant red dress and a short hairstyle, adding to the anticipation for the group’s new transformation.

SECRET’s stylist, Lee Eun Ah, revealed, “SECRET’s style this time is based off the 1940′s British ‘lady look’ and ‘espionage look’. We have used a vivid red color and a outfit that is both classy yet sexy, along with the accessories and hair pieces.”
