If you didn’t know who Jung Eun Ji was, or that this girl is a member of the idol group A Pink, you could take her to be a very skilled rookie actress.

From her sorrowful sobs to her antics as a crazy fan of H.O.T., every act she puts on makes her seem like an actress who’s received a lot of training.

Jung Eun Ji, however, is a first-time actor who has never been taught how to act, and yet she’s doing well with her role as Sung Si Won in tvN’s Reply 1997. Her teamwork with her partner, Seo In Guk, is also very good.

Local clothing brand Super Junior’s Siwon and Donghae arrive in Manila
By Catherine Deen | oK Pop – Tue, Aug 14, 2012 7:46 PM PHT

Bench is seriously going K-Pop as it celebrates 25 years in the fashion industry. Fresh from their confirmation that top Korean actor Lee Min Ho ("City Hunter", "Boys Over Flowers") is the newest addition to their growing international endorsers, Bench prepares another big event for K-Pop fans.

After selling the Super Junior inspired "Sorry Sorry" shirts by the truckload, Bench fulfills their promise of bringing in the much-loved Korean idols Siwon and Donghae from Super Junior.

The Everlasting Friends (E.L.F.), Super Junior fans, welcomed Siwon and Donghae when they arrived in Manila for a Bench fashion event at the Trinoma Activity Center on August 15. Due to the huge demand for tickets, Bench had to run a raffle where 700 lucky fans got a chance to have an up-close view of the boys.

Loads of SiHae in Manila pics here

Donghae tweeted that over 20,000 people attended the fanmeet, but I estimate it at around 5,000. Big crowd for a small venue, nonetheless.

So thanks Bench for bringing SiHae here, but you know we know we wanna see their shirtless bodies plastered on the billboards of Guadalupe, Balintawak, and C5.

Also, Lee Min Ho also endorses Bench?! ahdjfglahgakjfsdfafdf...

G-Dragon, Kpop has its Idol

1

At Boulevardier, we are fascinated with the Kpop phenomenon that is starting to radiate on large Europeans communities. We asked Claire Solery, passionate follower of Korean culture, to tell us about current star G-Dragon. Claire is the author of Out of Korea, where she shares visual and artistic observations from Korea, especially if they have a link with France. Contemporary art, photos, cinema and Kpop are her main interests. She currently is in Seoul and you can follow her tumblr “One month in Seoul” and on Twitter (Out_Of_Korea).

On June 28th during the men's fashion week in Paris, a mini hunt happened on Twitter. Photos of G-Dragon (aka GD), leader of South Korean boy band Big Bang, attending fashion shows of Rick Owens, J. Juun and Yohji Yamamoto were posted on social networks. These attracted a handful of young girls and very young women, motivated to get a glimpse of his pink hair in Paris.

Recently, 4minute and BEAST joined forces and held the groups’ first concert in Macau.

After putting on some great performances for the fans, members of 4minute stopped by Hong Kong to be judges of tvN “K-POP Star Hunt 2,” as Cube Entertainment is one of the organizers of the contest, alongside popular Hong Kong singer G.E.M.

The event turned out to be a success as over 1,000 fans were in attendance; however, shortly after the conclusion of the event, many local newspapers and media outlets criticized the members of 4minute for their bad attitude.

As reported by the media outlets, while G.E.M. was happy to answer questions raised by the media, 4minute was only willing to answer a fixed list of questions as prepared in advance by the organizers of the event.

Additionally, while the main event was starting, all of the 4minute members suddenly expressed the need to go to the washroom, causing a delay for everyone. Upon their return to the stage, the members only waved to the fans and did not make any introductions.

Much more proof disproving Hong Kong media and other reports )

as someone who's seen 4minute at KPOP Masters, United Cube in London and the MBC Concert in London a few months ago... these girls are nothing but humble and sweet. korean agencies are known to have many restrictions when going overseas but never at events (usually outside of events) and its most definitely not up to 4minute to make those rules...

According to industry rumors, Lee Joon has been considered by producers as one of the nominees of the show’s new couple. Representatives of MBC stated on August 17th, “As characteristic of ‘We Got Married’, a lot of celebrities are being named at the moment, and Lee Joon is included in the nominations. But he’s just a nominee and that has nothing to do with whether his casting will be confirmed or not.”

They added that for the time being, they will be going on with their original couples and the newly announced couple. “We will be going on with Lee Jang Woo and Ham Eun Jung, and Leeteuk and Kang Sora as well as the newest addition of Julien Kang and Yoon Se Ah without any departures.”

As Leeteuk is slated to begin his military service this year, that leaves a new opening in the ‘We Got Married’ slot, one that has left fans wondering whether Lee Joon will fill the gap, especially with the news of actress Oh Yeon Seo having already been confirmed as part of a new couple starting in September.

Lee Joon’s agency stated, “There has been nothing confirmed yet, and we have nothing as a company to say further on the matter.”

‘We Got Married’ will begin its broadcast with their newest confirmed couple Julien Kang and Yoon Se Ah on August 18th.

Ratio_women_450

Kim Jae-Won of The Korea Times writes:

Women hold only a combined 12 seats on the boards of the country’s 100-biggest companies, according to official data.

This confirms that all the speechifying about progressing equality between the sexes and improving corporate prospects for women has so far been a hollow promise.

The 12 women account for just 1.5 percent of the 801 seats occupied by men, according to records provided by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) and Statistics Korea.

There are only a precious few businesswomen who have made it to the upper-reaches of the corporate totem pole. And many of those women owe it to being the granddaughter of corporate chairmen or their daughter-in-laws.

Struggling for acceptance, gay Christians find their own place of worship

SEOUL, Aug. 13 (Yonhap) -- On Sunday evenings, the Rev. Daniel Payne begins his sermon beneath the glint of a disco ball. Standing before a small congregation on love seats and bar stools, he talks about piety, prayer and prejudice -- a topic his flock is all too familiar with.

They are members of the Open Doors Community Church, a congregation of mostly gay and lesbian-identified Christians who reject the notion that their sexuality conflicts with their faith. Unwelcome at more traditional houses of worship, the church has taken up space in the Moonlight Tavern in the back alleys of Itaewon, a district of Seoul known as a centerpiece of the foreign community.

"I want to give thanks for bringing this group together," says Payne, clad in khaki shorts and a shirt with a clerical collar. "It's great that we can have such an open community of people who can just come as they are and just love, and know that God loves them, too." It's a scene of odd juxtapositions.

Some tattooed and pierced, some in button-ups and ties, the group is a mix of expats and native Koreans. Against a backdrop of black-lit vodka bottles and martini-glass chandeliers, they recite traditional prayers, sing modern Christian-rock anthems and participate in group discussions about the challenges of living a Christ-like life.

Though they have finally found a home in Itaewon, it hasn't been easy for the group to find a permanent place of worship.

The government announced a set of measures on Friday to strengthen public education and understanding of a "multicultural society" and raise support for relevant programs.

The number of multiethnic families in South Korea has been on the rise to reach some 250,000 households nationwide last year due largely to an increasing number of Korean men marrying foreign women and a steady influx of migrant workers settling here to take up jobs.

Under the envisioned plan, the government will publish teaching guidelines for preschoolers and textbooks for primary and secondary schools that include contents on multicultural societies, and distribute them in phases starting 2013.

Education sessions on multiculturalism will be held for the general public including for civil servants and employees at welfare facilities, according to the government.
