“Unbowed,” a low-budget South Korean film based on the true story of the so-called “crossbow terror”incident of a college professor, is heating up the local box office, drawing renewed public debate over the 2006 incident.
The movie claimed the No. 2 spot by bringing in more than 1 million viewers at local cinemas as of Wednesday, a week after making a robust debut, the Korean Film Council, a government agency in charge of promoting domestic films, said on Thursday.
The 1 million viewers is double the number of viewers needed for the film, whose net production costs totaled only 500 million won ($445,831), to pass the break-even point.

Mobile gadgets become new source of experience for pro and amateur filmmakers
It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it’s accessible. Welcome to smartphone-filmmaking, which has become the new trend for both amateur and professional filmmakers in the past year.
The trend ― which started about a year ago upon the domestic release of Apple’s iPhone 4 and its local carrier KT’s aggressive-creative promotion of the products ― is becoming even bigger as more capital and talents are getting involved.
In the beginning, everything started as a clever commercial strategy. KT Corp., which was the only local distributor of the product when iPhone 4 was released in Korea in September 2010, teamed up with “Old Boy” and “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance” director Park Chan-wook for the promotion of the product.

Although T-ara fans have the group’s triple crown win to celebrate, their achievement is being overshadowed by Hwayoung’s wardrobe malfunction scandal which has caused an uproar for viewers who watched yesterday’s broadcast.
The malfunction happened during the performance of “Lovey Dovey” on Sunday’s SBS ‘Inkigayo‘ program. Hwayoung accidentally exposed her breast in the middle of her dance solo. A screen cap of the incident has since been circulating around the web via various Korean media portals and SNS services like Twitter and Tumblr.
Since the accident, T-ara’s agency, Core Contents Media has released an official statement: “Because of Hwayoung’s young age, she was very shocked and frightened by the event. Even now, she remains very shocked. The incident was purely accidental as it happened due to the loosening of the tapes that held the microphone wires under her outfit”.
“Rather than celebrating,” continued the Core Contents representative, “T-ara members are more fixated on trying to make Hwayoung feel at ease.”
It’s unfortunate that what should be a joyous day for the group has become a stressful reminder of the perils of live performing.

Fans in Turkey must be excited since the Korean Embassy in Ankara confirmed that JYJ's Jaejoong will be visiting Turkey on February 5.
The reason for Jaejoong's visit is that the Korean Embassy in Ankara will hold a Korean cultural event. The event will have the presence of the Honorable President of South Korea, Lee Myung Bak. Also, after the event is over, Jaejoong will hold a fan meeting. The embassy made available 500 tickets only and fans interested in the event had to simply send an email with their personal information and a question they would like to ask Jaejoong. The list of 500 confirmed fans filled just within an hour.
The event will take place at the Ankara University Faculty of Language and History, Farabi Hall on February 5, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Fans in Turkey, are you excited to see Jaejoong for the first time in your country?

On January 26th, B.A.P released their first single "Warrior," and they will performing their intro track "Burn It Up" and title track "Warrior" on tonight's episode of Inkigayo.
Ahead of the official broadcast, more than 200 fans flocked to the Inkigayo studio early in the morning for the pre-recording. Yesterday, B.A.P held their debut showcase in front of 3,000 fans and introduced their powerful and confident stage charisma. At the showcase, the group revealed their magnificent 4 meter tall and 200 kilogram robot mascot.
The robot was used for their Inkigayo stage.
During B.A.P's "Warrior" stage, particularly during the step performance (stomp), the floor underneath Bang Yongguk collapsed underneath his powerful step. While pounding the floor during their performance, the floor caved in, but despite the accident, Bang Yongguk was not injured.
He continued to perform like a professional, receiving praises from fans.
The incident, however, delayed the pre-recording by 30 minutes. B.A.P continued to perform with high energy, to which fans responded with cheers.

SMTOWN labelmates Kim Heechul and Sulli recently had a playdate!
On January 29th, the f(x) member updated her me2day with a new photo featuring Heechul. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Heechul; we’re going to watch a movie~”
The two labelmates seem to enjoy a close brother/sister-like relationship, even sharing a red muffler which was a gift from Sulli to Heechul.

Girls’ Generation member Jessica has been under heavy scrutiny for being suspected of having undergone plastic surgery on her jawline.
On January 27th, a post titled, ‘SNSD Jessica’s jawline under suspicion of plastic surgery‘ has surfaced with a collection of photos.
The post features a compilation of photos featuring Jessica’s face from her debut days until now. In these, her jawline is highlighted for comparison as the writer attempts to point out the changes.
The writer went on to say, “At the time of her debut, her jawline had a small protrusion to form an angle, but recently it seems to have become smooth. Her face line has changed.”
While accusations of plastic surgery are often defended by the possibility of naturally growing through puberty or varying camera angles, it’s been pointed out that all of these photos were taken after Jessica’s debut and showcase her face from similar perspectives.
Netizens have responded by saying, “Did she really get jawline plastic surgery?“, “I wonder if the change is from dental correction,” “It does seem her jawline has changed since her debut days,” and, “Maybe the photos are to blame for the difference.”

This is a spin-off from We Got Married that focuses more on the dating aspect. The couples in the first episode are... Lee Taesung (actor) and Seungyeon (KARA), Lee Joon (MBLAQ) and Lizzy (After School), Sungmin (Super Junior) and Hyorin (SISTAR), as well as Park Hwisun (comedian) and Sunhwa (SECRET). I am not 100% on if the show will continue with these couples, they make it seem so.

It looks like being a young gamer in South Korea is getting tougher and tougher. Last year the country put into effect a "Cinderella Law" that prohibited online gamers 18 and younger from logging in to popular games between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m.. Now the government is taking a close look at an additional law limiting the amount of time played each day for minors.
The proposed policy comes from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) and would yank account privileges for minors if they played either more than two hours in a row or more than three hours daily. The MEST is concerned about game addiction in minors, citing that it may come from the duration of play sessions.
The game industry is concerned about possible over-regulation by the government spurred by theories on addiction that haven't been proven. Some are calling for earlier shutdown policies to be overturned if this one is implemented.
