Jessica’s jawline transformation sparks plastic surgery rumors

Girls’ Generation member Jessica has been under heavy scrutiny for being suspected of having undergone plastic surgery on her jawline.

On January 27th, a post titled, ‘SNSD Jessica’s jawline under suspicion of plastic surgery‘ has surfaced with a collection of photos.

The post features a compilation of photos featuring Jessica’s face from her debut days until now. In these, her jawline is highlighted for comparison as the writer attempts to point out the changes.

The writer went on to say, “At the time of her debut, her jawline had a small protrusion to form an angle, but recently it seems to have become smooth. Her face line has changed.”

While accusations of plastic surgery are often defended by the possibility of naturally growing through puberty or varying camera angles, it’s been pointed out that all of these photos were taken after Jessica’s debut and showcase her face from similar perspectives.

Netizens have responded by saying, “Did she really get jawline plastic surgery?“, “I wonder if the change is from dental correction,” “It does seem her jawline has changed since her debut days,” and, “Maybe the photos are to blame for the difference.”

For once the pictures actually are from the same angles. Well done netizens. She looks beautiful either way, and I think most people didn't notice a difference, so if it was ps, why get it done? And when would she have had the time? O.O

Well, judging from these photos, it's very likely she got plastic surgery.

Wouldn't you need to get to the bone for that? Damn, that looks painful. I think the pictures are manipulated but I wouldn't know, I'm not a huge fan of SNSD so I don't even know how her jaw should look like.

I can see why some people care about whether or not a celeb gets plastic surgery or not. Some people obsess over the issue of "natural" beauty and look at it as though it was like the person was graced with holy genetics, venerating them for their "naturalness." Others would argue that they had to "cheat" to gain the popular opinion of "beauty," so it somehow undercuts their personality and makes them shallow.

But honestly, I'm sitting here like who the fuck cares?

If she did get plastic surgery, that's her business.
She's a part of a lifestyle where looks matter and she's going to obviously care about her appearance. If she wanted to get some work done to gain confidence or whatever, so be it. She isn't waving a knife in your face telling you what to think of plastic surgery.

I think people, by saying "shame on you," are trying to combat the perceived need for plastic surgery in order to achieve a beauty standard in Korean society. Of course it doesn't matter if one individual gets plastic surgery, but on a whole, it should be discouraged because it promotes things like elitism, frivolousness, and impossible body ideals. Of course this isn't the fault of any celebrity, it's the fault of society and the entertainment companies who encourage these things. So yeah, it is kind of "who the fuck cares" in one sense (like I wouldn't particularly care if some acquaintance got cosmetic surgery, though I would wonder why), and surgeries like these aren't the ONLY part of this big problem, but it definitely matters.

It's a possibility. I can see where the accusations are coming from because some of her recent (her violent romance filming) pics her jaw has been looking "rounder" than usual, but she still has a pretty prominent Sica-jaw. Judging by the pictures I wouldn't be surprised if they did a shallow shave on her jaw, but then it doesn't seem worth it to do a surgery for such a minor change... though you never know with these entertainment companies. However, I'mma go ahead and just assume it's because she's been gaining back a lot of weight recently.

This. One of my main problems with plastic surgery is that some people don't realize it is SURGERY. It always comes with risks and is dangerous. I'm not saying plastic surgery should never be done, but the decision should not be taken lightly and the risks need to be weighed.

Plus, it just sounds painful. :o
