*Story of the Year
This category was for created for international fans to vote on the most interesting/shocking story of 2011 and it went to:
“KARA’s Hara & B2ST’s Junhyung confirmed to be in a relationship!“
This was one of the first idol couple announcements, one in which both parties admitted to the relationship. Although the news shocked and upset many fans, it was also admirable, that for once, agencies admitted to their idols dating. This forever changed the landscape of K-Pop idol dating, where fans started to accept and encourage more idols to date openly.

China is stepping up mobility of its troops stationed in areas bordering North Korea in preparation for contingencies in the North, Japan’s Asahi Shimbun reported Sunday. Asahi quoted an unnamed Chinese military officer as saying that “we are stepping up our military mobility.” If contingencies happen in North Korea, Chinese troops could reach Pyongyang, the capital, in just two hours, the officer said.
According to Asahi, a Chinese military think tank has activated a Korean Peninsula crisis management team since 2007 when North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s health began to show signs of deterioration. Kim died of heart failure on Dec. 17 last year at the age of 69. The team came out with a report in 2010, the newspaper said. The report described the Korean Peninsula as an important place that is (closely) related to China’s security. It said it is important not to prompt North Korea to make any provocation, thus ensuring peace and stability on the peninsula. The report asked the Chinese military to collect information on the North Korean regime which is totally closed to the outside world, and strengthen measures to prevent China’s northeastern region from being plunged into confusion resulting from possible misinformation provided by media and Internet outlets.
Noting that North Korea’s nuclear weapons programs may lead to war on the peninsula, the report stressed that in case of contingencies on the peninsula, top priorities should be placed on prevention of nuclear proliferation. Asahi said alliance between China and North Korea was cracked after the latter’s two rounds of nuclear tests, but the two countries have enjoyed close ties since the second half of 2009. However, China has refused to conduct joint military exercises with North Korea and sell its J-10, a domestically developed third-generation fighter jet, it said. The newspaper said Beijing and Pyongyang have maintained ties, but distrust between the militaries of the two nations remains deep.

Reports are flaring up in Korea over how JYJ‘s Yoochun is being investigated for violating the Ships Safety Act.
Earlier today, YTN had reported than Yoochun was charged for violating the Ships Safety Act for not having his yacht undergo a standard safety check.
Yoochun’s agency, C-Jes Entertainment, had responded with: “We are currently confirming whether or not this is true… We will let you know when things are confirmed.”
As it turns out, the report was based on a misunderstanding. The Southern Sea Province Maritime Police Agency cleared up the issue when they told TV Report, “It’s not Park Yoochun who has been charged with the offense… He was just being questioned as a reference in our process of investigating the company he had entrusted to take care of his yacht.”

While South Korea's cousins to the north are busying themselves with their new glorious leader, the folks in the south's Ilsan districts of Gyeonggi-do are being entranced by American technology. An entire theme park has been created using Microsoft's Kinect tech combined with RFID wristbands that allow attendees to create avatar representations of themselves and move through the park while interacting with its various "attractions."
But what are these attractions, you ask? They're just as bizarre as you might think, with things like "The Ender Mirror" allowing photo-taking powered by smiles, "Live360," which creates a 360-degree video game "with multiple story endings in a huge space," and much more. The park is being touted as "the world's first 4D avatar theme park," which we find hard to argue with. The question then becomes whether the world asked for such a theme park, which we find much, much easier to dispute.
