2011 SBS Entertainment Awards Winners + Shin Bong Sun dances better than your favs

On December 30th, stars from all over Korea gathered for the 2011 SBS Entertainment Awards, which honored the best and brightest of SBS’s programs this year.

While many were looking forward to seeing Kang Ho Dong nab his sixth consecutive award, the talented host was unfortunately nixed from nominations due to his tax scandal. Still, many of his colleagues sent him a shoutout as they received their awards, acknowledging his importance and contributions to the entertainment industry.

2NE1, TVXQ, and KARA perform at 53rd Japan Record Awards

On December 30th, the Japanese music industry held one of its most prestigious events of the year, the ‘53rd Japan Record Awards‘, an event honoring the best and brightest of 2011.

The award show aired through Japan’s TBS and some of Korea’s brightest were also in attendance as 2NE1, KARA, and TVXQ put on wonderful performances for everyone. 2NE1 performed ‘Go Away‘, TVXQ performed ‘Why? Keep Your Head Down‘, and KARA performed ‘Go Go Summer‘.

Additionally, 2NE1 were also rewarded with a rookie award.

Korea to expand support for 'hallyu' next year

Korea plans next year to increase efforts to promote the overseas boom of Korean pop culture while pushing policies aimed at luring 20 million foreign visitors in 2020, the government said Thursday.

Culture Minister Choe Kwang-shik reported that and other key policy plans for next year to President Lee Myung-bak.

Anti-sex buying campaign causes stir

“You will get 410,000 won if you promise not to buy sex during year-end drinking sessions.”

This is a campaign a male rights group is promoting in a bid to criticize the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family’s anti-prostitution policies. But the campaign is causing a stir, as the prize money is fake and the ministry’s policies which the group stated have been non-existent.

Jihyun and lachatagirl reveal hot pics from 4minute's 2012 Season's Greetings!

4minute‘s Nam Jihyun took a commemoration photo with 4minute’s new 2012 calendar.

On December 29th, she tweeted, “Did you hear the breaking news that 4minute’s calender has come out? It was there when I came to the office, so I was surprised. It’s been a while since we took these pictures, but seeing them again makes me feel very good. How do you feel about spending 2012 with us?”

The idol shared a small smile for the camera, giving off a demure and sweet vibe. Many fans felt that it was a refreshing change from her fierce image on stage.

Netizens commented, “I think I will be very happy if I spend 2012 with 4minute”, and “For some reason, you look like miss A‘s Suzy in this picture.”

In related news, Jihyun is currently playing the role of ‘Jang Soo Ah’ on MBC’s ‘A Thousand Kisses’ .

Netizens discover poorly photoshopped photo of Girls’ Generation Hyoyeon

Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon‘s head was previously cut off from their full-length album “Oh“, and this time it looks like one of her legs is participating in a disappearing act as well.

The above photo surfaced on an online community site with the caption, “Hyoyeon’s leg seems to have disappeared. Why is it that these things only happen to Hyoyeon?”

The revealed photo was taken when the girls were serving as endorsement models for a gaming corporation, and Hyoyeon’s leg seems to have been photoshopped out.

Member Hyoyeon also previously had half of her face cut off on the album jacket of SNSD’s 2nd full length album Oh!

On the outside of the album jacket, the CD is held in place by small slits, but unfortunately, when the CD is inserted, it cuts off the top half of Hyoyeon’s face!

Netizens who saw that photo remarked, “Photoshopped in a hurry“, “Her leg is missing“, “Sunny’s legs look weird too“, “Why does this only happen to Hyoyeon?”, and more.

Remember back in 2009 we did the Best of Omonatheydidnt? We are bringing it back! 2011 brought us some lulzy/fail/memorable posts so we thought it would be nice to look back and see what happened.

The Best Moment of 2011 KBS Gayo Daejun Upsets Some, Makes OP Happy

SISTAR is causing quite a stir amongst some of those who have viewed their performance at the 2011 KBS Gayo Daejun. That's because Hyorin seemed to have a bit of a wardrobe malfunction at the very beginning of their performance of “So Cool,” where some of her bottom is exposed for one or two seconds.

This has upset quite a few YouTube users who saw the performance on the video sharing website. Here are some of the negative responses:

Well, i really think their dresses are too short... The dresses they wear habitually are good, so why did they shrink them? I don't care but Hyorin must feel really embarassed :S and i think Korean people will create a scandal of this accident :(

Showing your ass isn't being sexy! You're sexy when you have, at least, a little bit of class! For me wearing a dress of this size is being "slutty" (when you don't wear anything under)

OMG I SAW THEIR BUTT ~ Omg Hyo Rin wear your shorts . Bora can't really see but still ... ?! You guys wear underwear right ?

Not everyone who viewed the video was offended, though, and some of the other viewers thought some users were being too harsh. Here are some of their responses:

I don't know you like SISTAR or not... but please don't hate them because of this... we should blame the stylists T-T

they wear one dress, dance a few moves and they're suddenly slutty? overreacting much?

Anyone who thinks this is "too sexy" or "too revealing" has been living a f&*ked up sheltered life and should go out more.

In the photos, Super Junior is found dressed in black suits standing in front of their entrance ceremony banner.

Gary talks about Leessang's success in 2011

Leessang owned the K-Charts over this past summer when they released their new album and the entire top 10 of the charts belonged to them. It looked as though there were errors on all the music sites, but it was simply that Leessang captured the hearts of fans with their sincere lyrics and genuine style of music. They promoted themselves on entertainment programs making their faces known, and their explosive fame seemed to know no end.

With their original music and witty entertainment skills, they easily jumped from ‘artist’ to ‘entertainer’ in 2011, which is why Leessang is #4 on the list of ‘2011′s Hottest People‘.

As Leessang prepared to round out 2011, Gary remarked that he could not pinpoint the reasons for their fame. He is not sure why their music did so well, and why he suddenly became the ‘nation’s boyfriend’. He was too embarrassed to answer, and bashfully continued to say, “I really don’t know what the reasons are.”

Regardless, Leessang’s popularity this year was quite explosive. Gary remarked that people recognized their faces a lot more, and that played a huge role in their success this year.
