7-member girl group T-ara is thankful for free snacks from a company with the same name as their song.

T-ara will come back on July 1st with their new mini album, "John Travolta Wannabe" with a comeback track being released called "Roly Poly". They are currently in full-scale preparations for their comeback stage.

T-ara's company Core Contents Media expressed their thanks and told Star News on the 22th, "With T-ara's promotions with their new song 'RolyPoly' ahead, a snack product with the same name gave us their support by sending us their snacks free of charge."

Followed, "During earlier promotions of 'Bo Peep Bo Peep', a company sent T-ara a truckload of toilet paper which was a funny experience for T-ara. Like during 'Bo Peep Bo Peep', they had a good feeling after receiving the product."

T-ara's new song "Roly Poly" was written and composed by Shinsadong Tiger and Choi Kyusung. It's like disco songs popular in the 80s' but with a modern musical factor.

T-ara's agency said, "Roly Poly has an easy melody, arrangement and dance that will be addictive and can attract a wider range of audience, such as people in their 20s-50s. T-ara will have their comeback stage on the July 1st through KBS2TV's 'Music Bank' with a retro spin."

Meanwhile, T-ara will be in Japan on July 5th to have a large showcase.

South Korea is building a new facility to hold North Koreans arriving in the country, officials say.

Most defectors - who include economic migrants and political refugees - spend their first three months in a government centre known as Hanawon.

They are taught the skills they need in a capitalist country - such as how to work cash machines, or get a job.

Seoul says almost 3,000 North Koreans arrive each year and the current centre is danger of becoming overcrowded.

The "Korean Wave," or hallyu, started in Asia focused on TV dramas and K-pop but is now spreading to other genres and reaching a broader global audience.

The term "Korean Wave" was coined in 2003 when the hit soap opera "Winter Sonata" attracted huge fans in Japan. The fever has grown into a worldwide phenomenon with children in a small remote village in Manipur, India, saying "Thank you" and "I love you" in Korean.

Bekhzod, a college student in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent starts each day listening to the song "Gee" by Girls’ Generation that goes, “So cool, dazzle my eyes, can’t breathe, I’m shaking.” He sets the alarm of his mobile phone with this music and also watches the Korean drama "Queen Seondeok" on Samsung TV while having breakfast with his family.

The South Korean government said it will nurture diversity in Korean pop, which is heavily idol-group centered, as part of its strategy to boost the global competitiveness of Korean pop culture.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced a package of plans to promote Korea’s pop culture as a new growth industry overseas, along with the celebration of the re-opening of the Olympic Hall as a K-pop concert hall at the Olympic Park in eastern Seoul on Wednesday evening.

“Although K-pop’s popularity has surged on the back of idol groups, Korea needs to secure diversity in its pop music especially to sustain a continuous growth of K-pop,”
the ministry said in a statement.

“In detail, small concert hall Muse Live at the Olympic Hall and marketing service Hongdae Indie Club will play a central role to spur indie music,” it said.

Producers and directors of soap operas and movies may have difficulty shooting as scheduled after a group of management agencies announced they were refusing to let their actors work due to unpaid wages and performance fees.

The Corea Entertainment Management Association disclosed Wednesday a list of companies responsible for 32 dramas and films, which have failed to pay actors, along with the names of the productions, production heads and directors who made the dramas.

It said actors of the agencies will not participate in films made by the companies in question.

The collective action follows a chronic overdue payment problem in the film and drama production industry.

“We concluded that we need to take action. From now on, our actors will not appear in soap operas and movies filmed by the named production companies,” the association said in a statement.

According to a survey conducted on actors at the member agencies, the performers are owed 1.5 billion won in overdue payment for dramas and 700 million won for movies.

It’s a rare opportunity to be able to look into the homes and personal spaces of Korea’s most popular idols. Fans are always curious about what their homes are like, but usually are only able to see passing scenes in reality shows if they’re lucky.

As such, Sports Donga took it upon themselves to solve the curious case in celebration of their 1,000th edition. They decided to visit miss A’s dorm, which was never once revealed to the public. Interestingly enough, the Sports Donga journalists were also the first ‘men’ to step foot inside. (that's a lie, oneday and jyp where there before)

it's nice to know that the maknae has an extra bed for me )

okay, i already knew that their dorm was big, but i didn't expect to be this big! and i love that unlike most girl groups they don’t live only on diets, in fact i fail to see the usual salads in their fridge .

Last week we took notice of 3 Korean groups being in the top 10 of the Oricon Daily charts in Japan. Now a week after the release of those three singles, Beast and Supernova have made it to the 3rd and 2nd place, respectively, of the Oricon weekly. Boy group The Boss just fell out of the top 10 and ended on the 11th spot with their second single "Love Bingo!".

Supernova's "Kuriunnare – Kimi ni Aitakute!" snatched the 2nd spot by selling an amazing 53657 copies, the most any of their singles have sold in Japan since their debut date. Beast's second single "Bad Girl" was revealed to have been sold 42386 times. Japanese group Kinki Kids came out on top with 150661 singles sold, revealing they're still one of Japan's top groups.

Even though last week's charts featured 3 Korean groups on the list, this week's has their own with the release of SHINee's Japanese debut single "Replay -君は僕のeverything-". The single sold 50270 copies on its first day, which is an amazing feat for a Kpop group's Japanese debut. With that many copies sold, SHINee ended on the second spot for today's Oricon charts just behind popular AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda who sold 102483 copies of ther debut solo single "Flower". SHINee managed to outsell popular Japanese groups AAA and T.M.Revolution, who both released their new singles on the same day.

With these great feats, we can say that the popularity of Korean pop groups in Japan, is still going strong.

Park Yoochun’s ‘This Empty Place is For You’ has taken over various online music charts.

In Part 3 of the ‘Miss Ripley’ OST, Park Yoochun sang Song Yoo Hyun’s theme song ‘This Empty Place is For You’ and became a hot topic for doing so.

Part 3 of the ‘Miss Ripley’ OST, which includes ‘This Empty Place is For You’, was released online at midnight on the 21st and immediately became the most searched term on various portal sites as well as the most popular song on various music charts such as Naver Music, Daum Music, Melon, Dosirak, Bugs and Cyworld, effectively making an ‘all-kill’ on domestic music charts.

On the afternoon of the 21st, ‘This Empty Place is For You’ was still the most popular song on Daum Music’s Real Time Charts and Cyworld Music’s Real Time Charts, and was the second on Melon’s Recent Songs Chart and third on Bugs Music’s Real Time Charts. The song was still highly ranked in other online sites such as Dosirak and Naver Music as well.

‘This Empty Place is For You’ has been praised for perfectly portraying the longing for a woman by blending Park Yoochun’s emotion-filled voice with sentimental lyrics. As it shows what Song Yoo Hyun is feeling in the drama, it is expected to better complete the drama and Song Yoo Hyun’s method of showing his love for Jang Miri.

The song came on during the 7th episode of ‘Miss Ripley’ on the 20th when Song Yoo Hyun confessed his love for Jang Miri and proved Park Yoochun’s popularity as ratings shot up during the scene.

A representative of the production company stated, “Park Yoochun’s soft and warm voice was perfect for the song ‘This Empty Place is For You’ and this allowed him to make an ‘all-kill’ on the music charts,” and “He’s as passionate about his music as he is about acting, which makes us believe that Park Yoochun is a true entertainer.”

The ‘Miss Ripley’ OST will be released offline as a full album on July 4th.

It has been revealed that ballad group 2AM's Changmin will stop appearing in 'Immortal Song 2'. This has aroused confusion as to why so many contestants had entered the show despite their hectic schedule.

Changmin's agency expressed through Starnews that: 'Changmin's last appearance on KBS's Immortal Song 2 will be on the 4th of next month.'

One of his reasons to leave the show is that he is preparing for a HOMME comeback with 8Eight's Lee Hyun. They are scheduled to release the single in July and both members are very busy preparing for the piece.

Changmin has appeared in Immortal Song 2 since the very beginning along with SISTAR's Hyorin. Others who first appeared in the show were IU, Beast's Yoseob (preparing for Japanese market), SHINee's Jonghyun, and Super Junior's Yesung. Secret's Song Ji Eun made her debut appearance last episode and has revealed she will step down from her position.

New substitutes will replace the exiting members, and many are conscious that Hyorin is the only member who is still in the program from the very beginning.
