Lights will never go on again for Beast

At the 2008 Dream Concert, Cassiopeia, ELF, and Triple-S all turned off their glowsticks and stayed silent during Girls' Generation's stage. The incident was covered up by editing on broadcast, but many fans who were there disproved the broadcast with pictures and fancams.

The silent treatment is dubbed "Ten-Minute," because the audience stays silent for the ten minutes that the artist is on stage. It received a lot of criticism not only from Sones but also from other members of Cassiopeia, ELF, and Triple-S.

However, it may be happening again at Dream Concert 2011, and its target will be BEAST this year. Some B2uties have set themselves apart from many fanbases because of how they are acting toward members of other idol groups. There have been many incidents where some B2uties have gone into other idols' fan cafes and started to bash the idols and compare them to BEAST, saying things such as "BEAST sings better than SHINee," "BEAST is better looking than TVXQ," "BEAST dances better than 2PM," and have even gone to say "BEAST is just better than MBLAQ."

There have been cases on the color dispute regarding Junhyung's glowstick. The glowstick in question creates a pinkish purple color when the red and the blue parts are put together. Since blue is Super Junior's color, red is TVXQ's color, and pink is Girls' Generations', their respective fanclubs have spoken up in protest. However, their protests have been either ignored or laughed at by some B2uties, making fans furious.

However, some fans, B2uty and others alike, are suspicious that it may be antis instead of actually B2uties that are causing such a havoc. As a result, many fans are against the "Ten-Minute" against BEAST, and B2uties have pleaded with other fans to not punish the BEAST members for something that some bad-mannered fans have done.

infinite's to-ra-wa on japan's ringtone charts

The seven member idol group, INFINITE, has hit Japan with a bang.

INFINITE debuted their first single, “TO-RA-WA“, in Japan on January 26th. Within a day, the song leaped to #1 on the daily charts of the K-POP section of Japan’s top mobile website, ‘music.jp‘

Also, on the J-POP daily chart that tracks the overall popular songs, INFINITE placed 19th – only seven spots behind DBSK/TVXQ, who placed 12th. With popularity usually depending on time spent in the market, the rookie team is showing their power through the rankings.

The song “TO-RA-WA” is the same as “Come Back Again” that INFINITE released in Korea – with only a title change.

Even though it was their first debut single, the fact that INFINITE was able to float to #1 on ‘music.jp’, which is a service provider in association with major record labels in the Japanese digital music market, is an impressive feat. This surprising result is gathering much interest and expectations for INFINITE from the Japanese music market.

In addition, INFINITE has made contracts for Japanese promotions with CCC, the parent company ofStar Records – a large music retail chain. The group is also developing large and thorough promotions through TV, newspaper, magazines, radio, and other media outlets.

INFINITE is planning to showcase in Tokyo on April 2nd, and they plan to captivate the Japanese fans with their powerful choreography.

Mnet to air guerrilla-style special program feat. TVXQ & Seungri

After making impressive comebacks this month, TVXQ and Seungri are going to appear in a surprise guerrilla-style special for the Lunar New Year holiday!

Mnet will document 48 hours from the lives of TVXQ and Seungri, the cuts from which will be aired at random over the course of two days.

The broadcast station will begin their guerilla-style airing on February 2nd with TVXQ’s segment, “Tuk! TVXQ“, followed by Seungri’s cuts, “Tuk! Seungri,” for the 4th and 5th.

Teasers for their program were already revealed during January 20th’s and 27th’s “M! Countdown” MCD Paparazzi, which gave fans a brief glimpse of the two preparing for their comeback stages.

PD Kim Young Bum further revealed, “The guerrilla style was something we’ve been wanting to do ever since we began 2NE1 TV and Big Bang TV. This concept was based off our desire to give viewers a careful glimpse of their favorite stars’ private lives, as opposed to just ‘watching them on TV.’ We hope viewers will look forward to it.”

2PMs lead vocalist, Kim Junsu or Jun.K is said to release a mini solo EP, the information was just posted on the Korea Music Copyright Association site. Looks like the release date is March 9th, 2011 and features 2 tracks. The first, HOT, which could be the same song he sang at the 2PM fanmeeting in 2009. Second song is called 편지를 쓴다 or Writing Letters.

Won Bin wants to improve, remains sexy while doing so

Hallyu star Won Bin garnered a special award at the award ceremony for the "Japan Jewelry Best Dresser" held at the Tokyo Big Sight International Exhibition Center on January 26.

The award ceremony selects the "celebrities who go well with jewelry" in different age groups from teenagers to sixties every year, and Won Bin received the special award at this year's event. Won Bin gave his thoughts, saying, "When a good stone has been polished enough for a long time, it becomes a glittering jewel. Like this, I want to become an actor who continuously polishes myself and becomes a glittering actor for my entire life".

In addition, the Administrative Reform Minister Renho was selected in the category of female special award, but she could not participate in the ceremony due to the recent spread of Avian influenza. In last year's award ceremony, Hallyu star Lee Byung Hun and Miyuki Hatoyama, who is the wife of former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, had garnered the special awards.

Cerritos man charged in execution-style slaying in O.C. of childhood friend

A Cerritos man was charged Thursday in the execution-style slaying of a childhood friend who was in the area on vacation from South Korea, prosecutors said.

Beong Kwun Cho, 51, is accused of shooting Weon Lee once in the head Tuesday and then leaving the body in a broken-down vehicle in an industrial lot in Anaheim, the Orange County district attorney's office said.

Cho is accused of taking his friend's identification papers and tossing them in a nearby dumpster, prosecutors said. A city worker cleaning streets found the body and contacted authorities.

Lee, who was traveling alone, had been staying with Cho and his family. The two men attended elementary school together in South Korea, according to prosecutors.

Cho is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Santa Ana.

S. Korea rice consumption falls to record low

South Korea's per-capita consumption of rice fell to a record low last year as more and more people chose different diets, Statistics Korea said Friday.

Consumption per person was 72.8 kilograms (160 pounds), a 1.6 percent decrease on the previous year. Over the past decade the figure dropped by 22 percent.

"As diet becomes more diversified and convenient, consumption of alternative products such as bread and instant noodles increased constantly," the statistical service said in a statement.

Diet and health issues were also cited as reasons for the decline.

Korea still eats more rice than some neighbouring Asian countries. Japan consumed 58.5 kilograms and Taiwan 48.1 kilograms in 2009, Statistics Korea said.

Korean director Im Sang-soo stretches boundaries

South Korean director Im Sang-soo seems to delight in courting controversy. His films have been at the center of a storm for being sexually provocative. His 2005 film "The President's Last Bang" set off a court battle because of its incendiary portrayal of South Korea President Park Chung-hee. Almost four minutes of the movie were ordered removed before it could be shown in theaters, a decision that was overturned a year later on free expression rights.

Sooyoung asks Avril Lavigne to write a song for SNSD!

On the January 28th airing of TV Asahi’s “Music Station“, SNSD’s Sooyoung praised Avril Lavigne, who had also performed on the same episode to promote her new album, “Goodbye Lullabye“.

She asked if Avril wanted to write a song for SNSD, since they were big fans. Avril, who had a translator by her side, smiled and replied, “What the hell, why not?“

SM's new band "M1" sound like ~wonderful~ people

SM Entertainment has announced that a new boy band named "M1" will be debuting in March or April 2011. When fans heard this news, they immediately connected the name to the "female Girls' Generation" that SM had been preparing.

Sungjong, from the 7 membered idol group, Infinite, revealed that he had recently received a ‘doll play set’ as a gift.

Sungjong is the member in the team that displays a pretty look. He attracts attention from those who look at him with his shocking, but beautiful, blonde hair and his skin that’s white enough to be cold. Sungjong has a leading look as a male idol that’s prettier than a girl that even raised a gender controversy through one licensed fashion magazine pictorial, at the time of his debut, and a recent picture of him parodying the group Orange Caramel heated up online sites with ‘the looks of a goddess’ level.

In a recent interview with Osen, Sungjong was asked if there’s a fan’s present that he remembers and replied, “I recently received a doll play set. Besides this mini album’s title song, ‘Before the Dawn (BTD)’, the sentimental pop-dance number, ‘Can U Smile’, ‘I Don’t Know’, ‘Voice of My Heart,’ shows off high perfection that even if all of them were the title songs, there would be no regret. And they also created a hot topic with their group dance, the ‘scorpion dance’, that looks like a wired action move.

So when management company InterVidiEntertainment announced that they were going to debut a ‘classical music girl group’, they immediately hooked everyone’s attention.
