SM Entertainment and Mnet Media have declared that they’ve resolved the kinks in their relationship by announcing that TVXQ will be making an appearance on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on January 20th!
It’s been two years and two months since an SME artist last appeared on Mnet’s music show. SM had boycotted the company and all their music projects due to various controversies surrounding the company’s standards.
TVXQ will be performing “Keep Your Head Down,” “How Can I,” and “Maximum.”
Producers of “M. Countdown” spoke on January 17th and commented, “As it is TVXQ’s first stage on the show in nearly two years, we are paying extra attention to it. We’ll be preparing something extravagant enough to maximize the duo’s charms as a big present for the fans who have waited for them.”

F.CUZ’s Kan has been reported to have suffered a car accident on his way to Seoul after filming for SBS’s “Athena: Goddess of War.”
Near Incheon Airport, the car slipped on ice and crashed into a guardrail. According to his agency on January 17th, Kan, his manager, and four stylists were in the car. Three were immediately moved to a hospital for serious and slight injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
A representative revealed, “They’re receiving detailed examinations. Kan dislocated his shoulder and was forced to stitch his forehead and nose. Due to the injuries on his face, it will be difficult for him to participate in any schedules.”
F.CUZ will be halting their “Wanna Be Your Love” promotions for the time being.

Kang Ho-dong, host or participant of major TV entertainment programs, is estimated to earn 4-5 billion won a year, seemingly a walking small- or medium-sized entrepreneur.
He earns 9-10 million won for one appearance, according to those involving the broadcasting community.
If he received 9 million won ($8,000) per appearance in conservative estimate, he earned about 1,980 million won last year in four TV entertainment programs.
He was also active in the commercial film division. He was ad model for six brands last year Doctor You of Orion, Ssen(strong) Cook of Dongwon, Uri (Our) White Milk, Donguibogam Bokbunja, Digital Cable TV, Shinhang Financial Group. His model fee is about 300 million won in six months and about 500 million won a year, according to the advertisement community.

On the afternoon of the 8th in a theatre in Los Angeles. Caucasian female, Sarah (28), who was wearing a pink T-Shirt with “Soshified” written on it danced along to SNSD’s big hit “Gee”. Sarah is one of the 120,000 members of America’s SNSD fan community “Soshified”. She participated in the first planned Soshified meeting. 500 people from all over America came together to participate in this event. “Soshified” comes from SNSD’s abbreviation “Soshi” and the English world “Satisfied”.

Up until now, America is a place that Korean singers can’t overlook. American pop is just a “textbook” that Korean singers imitate. But, by the 2nd half of the 2000s, they began to challenge that. Rain (Bi), BoA, SE7EN have all stood on the American stage. Wonder Girls became the first ever Korean singers to appear on the Billboard Charts at 76.
Last September 15,000 American fans gathered in LA for the “SM Town Concert”. SNSD, Super Junior, SHINee and other SM Entertainment artists participated in the concert and the tickets to the performance were completely sold out one month before.
On this day at “Soshified”’s event location you could see people from various races. Black people, white people, Asian people, etc… were all present equally. SMUSA said, “Of those in attendance, more than half were Hispanic, white or some other non-Asian race”. At the event venue they played the Korean produced SNSD videos. The venue had cheers of joy as they watched the SNSD members dance and sing on the video. Uncle fans were also noticeable. In a lively voice they did the fan chants “SEO NYUH SHI DAE!”. With a moustache and long beard Grimmy (49) introduced himself, “I’m a long time SNSD uncle fan”.
— How did you come to know Korean girl groups?
“Through YouTube and other internet sites. But, not just SNSD, KARA and Secret too, I like mostly Korean girl groups.”
— Why do you like Korean girl groups?
“In American groups, it’s typical that only 1 member is noticed. In Korean girl groups, all of the members are charming. All 9 members are Beyonce in SNSD.”
They finished up the day by flying paper airplanes with what they would want to say to SNSD written on them. On Twitter they also expressed their wishes for SNSD in the “Tell me your wish” corner. The main way for K-POP to broaden and cross over from Asia into places like America and Europe is through YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and other global networks. Even though SNSD hasn’t debuted officially in America, they still have a large-scale fanclub such as this.
On the 13th in America’s Wall Street Journal they had a special feature and reported, “SNSD was successful in their Japan debut thanks to the PR efforts on YouTube. Using YouTube for PR doesn’t cost much at all and you could see the response in the market before their debut. Korean entertainment companies are being proactive with their YouTube usage.”

Actor Lee Byeong-Heon will begin filming the Hollywood movie "G.I. Joe 2" in June, his management agency BH Entertainment announced on Sunday.
Lee gained worldwide fame when he played the role of Storm Shadow in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" in 2009. The film is an adaptation of a comic that involves clashes between the G.I. Joe Team, who defend world peace, and an evil cabal called Cobra Command.
The first movie made US$321.3 million around the world, which is the highest for any Hollywood film with a Korean actor. The sequel is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the screenwriters of the hit movie "Zombieland".
Lee will start preparing for the new film in May and leave for the U.S. for shooting in June. The movie is slated to be released in the summer of next year.

JYP Entertainment has established a building office in New York to coordinate and work on their activities on the US. The building has a practice room and recording studio in order to practice and prepare there.
JYP Entertainment has been preparing for expansion to America since 2003 with the help of Woo Suk Lee, who is the vice president of the company. He said, "Until now, the game was just practice. Wonder Girls will begin authentic US debut this year."
For him the biggest barrier so far has been the language, that is why the girls have been taking language and acting classes and been living there to adapt to the lifestyle.
He revealed that the new Wonder girls’ album that will be released in March will have 6-7 new songs and that people like Rodney Jerkins and Claude Kelly, who are famous American musician/composer, will be involved in it. In addition, Wonder Girls EP album will be released by one of the three major record labels here in the US.
According to him the US market is saturated and that Asian music is just starting to grow, specially the Korean pop.
He finally commented that the use of YouTube is a way to have a connection to a wider audience, but that it just a part of many more things.

JYJ member Park YooChun said, “Now I want to try dating.” revealing his wish for the new year.
Park YooChun, who is of blood type O, said, "I have dated a girlfriend of blood type O and a girlfriend of blood type A for 3 years each, and we really clicked with each other. Now I would like to try dating a good person with marriage in mind."
Park Yoochun had an interview with Chosun.com during the afternoon of the 13th and said, “My father is not well. Until now I have never introduced my girlfriends to my parents before, if I get the chance, I would definitely want to introduce her before his condition gets worse.”

Actor Kim Sung-min yesterday was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 904,500 won ($900) on charges of smoking marijuana.
“Since Kim is a popular actor, his crimes were dealt with more severely. But he is very repentant,” said the Central District Prosecutors’ Office in a statement.
Kim will not require treatment for drug abuse, the statement said.
After the sentencing, Kim, wearing a blue prisoner’s uniform, spoke to the press at the front of the courthouse.
“I couldn’t fight the temptation from those who offered me the drugs,” Kim said.
The actor, who was once popular on the “What Makes a Man” segment of KBS’s “Happy Sunday,” said his drug use was accompanied by a case of severe depression following a series of failed investments, his breakup with his girlfriend and having been the victim of a con.
He also said that although he did smuggle methamphetamine into the country, he did not offer the drugs to others.
“It will be a long winter and I will live through it by trying to meet the expectations of those who care deeply for me,” Kim said.

On the 15th, Hyun Bin attended the "Secret Garden OST Concert" held in the Gwangjin-gu Children's Park in Seoul. When asked about the cappuccino kiss in the drama, Hyun Bin replied, "Depending on different locations, the kisses would also be different." His reply caused huge laughter in the crowd.
Kim Sung Oh, who plays Kim Sung Woo (Joo Won's secretary) in the drama, was the MC for the event. He asked, "On the shore of Han River, you are drinking coffee in the car with your girlfriend. Major music site Soribada chose the top 100 best albums of the 2000’s and began revealing a bit of the list each day since September 30th. The list will run for a total of 100 days until finally revealing the full list on January 14, 2011.
Soribada stated, “We chose these albums with 39 music professionals including music critics, journalists, composers and writers, that work with major music magazine, ‘100 Beat.‘”
The CEO of Soribada, Yang Jung Hwan, continued, “Music reflects the life style of its generation and holds so much more meaning in its content. We believe that this list is a necessity not only to look back at the memories of the past 10 years but to advance the current music market and to hopefully predict the future. In order to fulfill such meaning, Soribada has agreed to participate in the project in finding the top 100 albums of the first ten years.”

4minute are learning Thai culture from Nichkhun's brother, Nichan.
Nichan is the older brother of Nichkhun, a member of a pop group named 2PM. Being featured with the famous 4minute on their upcoming hit TV show, "Mr. Teacher," (starting 1/19) will be his first major step into the Korean entertainment industry.
"4minute's Mr. Teacher" will feature the smash hit group, 4minute, as they travel around Asia. The girls will meet a handsome local from each country and the sexy guy will help the girls learn about that nation.
The four teachers who will wholeheartedly instruct the lovely girls of 4minute have extraordinary appearances. Taiwanese teacher, JL Lim, who is currently a major model in Taiwan, will give the girls the know-how to survive activities in Taiwan. Japanese teacher, Hikumi Nori (22), who is currently a songwriter, composer and producer in Japan, will give the girls lessons based around the Japanese music scene.
Finally, 4minute's Malaysian teacher, Lin (24) is currently a student in Seoul and dreaming of becoming a pilot. He will teach the girls the particularities and unique parts of Malaysian culture. He debuted through the drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and received three awards for Best Newcomer award, Best Couple award, and Netizen award. Park Yoochun with JYJ will soon publish essay album, it’s a major hit in many bookstores, he is very busy everyday.
Congratulations on winning three awards. The competition for the Best Newcomer award was very fierce, but you alone won the award has attracted many topics of discussion.
I was also really surprised at that moment. I thought after my name there would be someone else as well, who would get on stage with me to receive the award. I didn’t have 100% confidence of winning this award and felt the burden. Winning this award is different than from winning awards as a singer, with so many seniors setting in front, I felt very embarrassed and felt lost.
You chose a historical drama as to debut, what surprised me is, everyone’s attitude toward your “acting ability debate” was not tough, you passed very easily.
I didn’t specifically pick a historical drama, but I thought this is a very good drama, so I decided to act in it. In the beginning, I didn’t have much expectations for myself, just hoped everyone’s evaluation for me in the outside world isn’t too bad. There are very few singer born actors acting in historical dramas at first the producer was uneasy, and suggested for me to take any role other than Lee Sunjoon. However, the next day, I send the producer a very long text, the content including how I really want to act as this role.
( Standing in front of the mirror after taking a shower, looking at myself I feel Ah, not that great. Once, I even thought hard about getting plastic surgery. However, I must thank my dad, for giving me very long eyelashes (laugh) )
